Probably the only reason is to prevent them falling in love. They rarely comes out as well.. also to keep a secret that they are the demon. Actually the mask is for this very reason, can't show their emotion, hence keeping the demon secret.

I think age 23/27 doesnt make sense for prodigy of this era.. ppl basically married at age 15/16 at this time... unless you put current time frame to historical time.. 😅
