1. Despite the major differences between the novel and the drama series, the final outcome of the characters are…
@Erudite, thank you so much for decoding this! Your explanations and insights for this drama are truly invaluable. I’m gonna rewatch and look out for the stuff you mentioned.
Despite everything, I don’t regret watching the drama even though I typically hate vague or unsatisfuing endings. This was one drama that got me so obsessed that I signed up for a YOUKU account for a month just to watch this. Lol!
This can’t be the end! Fingers crossed for a sequel!
Just finished the last ep. Arghhhhhhhh. ???????????????????? Why??????
What can I say? Chang An will forever be her shadow, protecting her, ever ready to die for her. Gong Zi deliberately sent a letter written in Wan Mei’s blood to Chang An. Letter says that she’s in major trouble at Gui Hua Cheng. Truth is, Wan Mei challenged Cha Luo for the leadership title to save Wan Xiang (Cha Luo was picking on her).
Chang An abandoned his troops/camp and rushed to Gui Hua Cheng, knowing that Wan Mei was no match for Cha Luo. Wan Mei and Chang An reunited briefly. She tried to give something to Chang An to go into deep sleep but he didn’t take it and instead, overheard Wan Mei telling a junior that she would take poison and die together with Cha Luo during the duel.
Chang An attempted to assasinate Cha Luo but got caught. Later, he was tortured but convinced Xing Feng to give him time alone with Wan Mei so that he could transfer all his inner strength and powers to her to fight Cha Luo. Without his inner strength, he apparently died from his torture/injuries.
There’s a lot more in between but this is roughly what happened. Argh I was crying buckets for the two ill-fated lovers. This ep really made me angry with Gong Zi!!!
If you have an iPhone or iPad, there’s an app called Moon Video that screens the latest dramas (no subs) and you can download offline to watch later. Enjoy!
As we are both followers of Novoland Eagle Flag, let's just said that I read a prediction that the BR drama might…
I read the novel too and like you said, it’s a fanfic. I’m crossing my fingers that the ending will be nothing like it. Can’t wait for 8pm tonight to watch on YOUKU! Arghhhh. I’m really sad at the same time that it’s coming to an end. Tried watching Ruyi’s Royal Love in the Palace and Story of Yanxi Palace but they’ve done nothing for me so far. Besides, I loathe the Qing period. Lol!
I totally get you. Chang An’s pained expressions or just seeing him clench his jaw (as if the pain is just too much to bear) makes my heart all knotted up in sadness. Can’t believe the actor is only 23 years old! By the way, www.67k8k.com is one of the fastest sites to upload new episodes of C-dramas. However, there are no subs.
Such an amazing drama. My favourite so far this year, even though I was rooting for Legend of Fuyao at first. The story is like a breath of fresh air. Wan Mei is strong and soft at the same time. Li Litong is simply gorgeous and in her element here. Chang An’s quiet, stoic love really moved me and Gongzi is such an enigmatic character! The cinematography is beautiful and you can tell that so much care has gone into the characterisation, details of the costumes, set, etc. Even the songs and lyrics are beautiful. I’ve watched up to ep 30 so far, with and without subs and still cannot stop obsessing about the drama to date. I’ve found my C-crack this year!
