Title: Spring Tide (Spring Tide is Rising) Male: Zhuo Hang Female: Cui Xiaoxuan YT Title Auto-Translated: "Accidentally slept with BFF's cold CEO uncle. Now he's chasing her...to pamper her endlessly" ML is the FL's bestie's cold Uncle whom has had a long-time crush on his niece's best friend. The ML and FL marry before falling in love.
The 7th link that Jwells posted has REALLY good subs. This was such a sweet, cavity inducing short drama. I loved it and wanted more when it was over. No red flags, not one, with ML.
Host clubs are there to make the guest spend which is usually on the drinks which are pretty high. They can set you back if you're not careful. There's also clubs where women are hostess and men are the guests. Here's a YT video about it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1xwLUjk1uI since these women get popular quick if they show charm since if they're just pretty, they won't get along well with their male guests and get them to buy drinks. The amount they earn in a month is crazy.
Edit: My culture shocks added as I try to remember.
Japan -I don't like it when they headflick each other. -Same thing with hitting people offside their head. It's usually hard enough to hear it but even then, big no. -The second hand embarrassment, they love it esp in the earlier dramas. Now it's not so much and played for laughs, which I prefer more. But wow. -Stiff kisses. It's gotten better but ages ago, I wanted to see better. -Super shy characters. I was used to bold characters growing up. -Keeping emotions in/not speaking up. Ties in with the shy ones sometimes, but I always wondered why they wouldn't speak up about things when I first got into it but after finding out, it makes sense. Still frustrating though. -So much train usage but also cars here and there. -Not much public display of affection.
Korea -"Have you eaten yet?" this was easy to get used to after I found out why, thanks to those in the comments at that time years ago explaining it during a drama show about noodles. -Oppa. A lot relate to this since it's so uncommon, but I got used to it quicker since I played on a game that had many players from the Philippine. I got called sis often and when I asked one, they explained it was just common for them. I love how there's always one guy in a drama that I've watched that LOVES to be called Oppa. It's almost like being called Senpai, both sound like they're being looked up to and found to be reliable? -Drinking so much lol it doesn't bother me though. Just a "Oh they drink way more than the others". -Hierarchy of age. -Honorifics. Polite form of Korean. While some are okay with casual, it's pretty fun when they shift it. Leads to some laughs too. -AMNESIA usually way back when it was ALWAYS but nowadays not used as much. I do try to stay clear of it, so I may be wrong. I just cannot stand it anymore. -Awkward af kissing but gotten sooo much better now. -Cars, all the cars. Especially those that are considered shit here in the States. It's a funny one for me. -The amount of rich boys I've seen with poor girl was like a gold mine for young me. The majority were young, too. It's like a coming of age story mixed in. -LOTS of slapping upside the head. Please no more. -The more public display of affection showed ahead of its time.
China -More drinking than Japan but not as much as Korea unless the character loves it which is...a bit sometimes. Mainly elderly lol you go grandpa. -Something like Oppa, but not as much or used the same way. -Hierarchy is also shown here, but I forget how vs Korea's. Still pretty interesting! -Nicknames GALORE. I love it. But also left me confuse at times since their names can be so short already, and I had to remember who was who, especially if they had a similar name in the English subs. For their own language, it's different depending on which kind and how it's written. -Cold kissing and awkward. Still is. Someone please prove me wrong lol -Not much public display of affection, unless you count the eyes. Has gotten LOADS better thanks to the times now. -Super long series that are over the 50 episodes mark. Used to terrify me. I only watch completed series unless I'm VERY interested in it to watch while it goes live. -Dubbed voices are a thing! Yes, there are voice actors who are so quick to over dub due to how some dramas are made, especially when they're working on another set while the actors are filming. Took me a while to figure this out and found out more on YT.
All three: -They all send in photos for resumes. This is definitely not allowed in the States since it can be grounds for discrimination. I know other countries require it though.
