True, her character is quite narrow minded. I don't care about her character in particular, but I will be sad for JC when her master dies only bc JC will lose her family.

That scene was so funny, they were all so awkward. We have two rivals WZ and PY, and then JC who resents them both. Poor CL and Dong’s daughter were caught up in the mist of all that tension 😅

Guys, should I watch this drama? I usually can’t take SE dramas bc I get attached to the characters and don’t want them to suffer 😭. I know Forever and Ever is meant to kind of “balance” out the sadness but is the heartbreak of one and only worth it? Thank you

Why WZ grabbed JC’s hand suddenly when he saw PY’s guard (they were at the market shopping for vegetables) and said “you still don’t understand men’s hearts”?

This happened very early on I think ep 6 or 7 but does anyone know:

I was lowkey expecting a scene where they could actually have the bitterness congee since they built up to it, but then they got interrupted 😭 ig writers said that’s enough romance for this ep

We also have to remember FL was highly sheltered her whole life, and her master is the one that raised her like a mother this whole time. Ofc she will trust and follow someone like her mother first. She also only knew WZ for 6-7 months, and he broke her trust once he used her to lure out her master, so ofc she’s hesitant to trust him again. In some ways FL could’ve handled things better but so could’ve ML.
I agree that the master is also unfairly accusing WZ and his family. I think it’s bcos she’s also been out of society and court politics for 20 yrs. Since the moment her sister died, she’s been holding onto this resentment for 20 yrs, and she saw the result of confronting WZ’s sister as supposedly “confirming” her suspicions. It’s frustrating cos she only knows one side of the story though, and is jumping to assumptions, I hope this gets resolved quickly 😭

As of ep 32, yes, but the trailer for the next ep implies that the marriage won’t go through bc of what happens to her master

Writers made WZ not the best at communicating with JC to increase the angst i guess :/

I do appreciate that he opened up a little when talking about his sister with JC though. But he still omits other things (like the situation with her master)

In these recent eps I feel sorriest for JC, she's trapped in all corners. I miss her happy and carefree era :(

So true, I know many people are complaining about RJL’s apparent no kissing rule but I don’t mind it. IMO their chemistry is already overflowing that a kiss scene isn’t necessary to affirm that

First, all the references to the phoenix - JC painting it on his mask, and again in the recent eps where the emperor commends him in court. For those who know the novel ending, the symbol of rebirth and rising from the ashes of a fire seems pretty intentional, and they chose to associate it with WZ specifically.

Then, WZ’s poem about flowers wilting and blooming again, and ofc the lingjiu flowers being shown to grow again and allow the existence of bitterness congee once more. These are all affirmations of the ongoing cycle of life. What goes around comes around, and after a long and dark night there is always dawn.

I’m sure there’s other references I missed but I really hope a HE is in sight 😭
