If Kidnap Means Unfreedom, Then I've Been Kidnapped Since I Born.
A remake of South Korean drama with the same title. A mystery, escapist, suspense, and slight science fiction. Following a man who's gonna kidnapping a young girl from a wealthy family. Once, the kidnapped agenda turns into uncovering several veils. Layer from layer, lie within a lie. Discovering the odd facts.
The dynamic chemistry that built between kidnapper and the young girl was clearly exciting. I love to see their assemble, their chaos, their love-hate, even their sincere that never be fooled. Especially the way they highlighting the different subject's name within each other, the girl that slowly calling him 'Papa', and the kidnapper who slowly call her 'my daughter', Oh that's light-hearted. I'm sobbing for those two.
The performance of both Saitoh Takumi and Nagao Yuno were perfectly balance and fit each other as papa-daughter. Nagao Yuno, girl, you're just a kid but your acting was chef's kiss. The way she could clearly portraying as 'fake cry' and 'real cry' was hella good. Age is just number, and she prove it. I could clearly knows the different either while she's fooling Masamune, or while she does a real crying.
Although, for me, some twist was kinda predictable, but they're success to giving another surprise moment. By only nine episodes, dare to say this is well constructed. Nothing exaggerate, nor filler scene at all. Instead, just serving the packed plot. Some might say the last episode a bit rushed, which I agree, but not that too-rushed. Still on track and neat.
I love the way they crafted it with more Japanese sense. The banding together, forgiving the villain, unveils the villain's background, also the redemption despite they did an anti-hero things. This is what it makes them good. The Japanese sense that different and heart-warming. For me, this is one of the best 2025 summer dorama that I've watched. Just give it a try!
