Pleasant surprise 10/10
I went into this with mixed feelings. I knew the Hong Sisters' writings can sometimes be a hit and missed but boy when they do deliver there is not doubt it would be a huge winner. This is one of them. I was a bit dubious about the drama after the first four episodes, thinking is this all about pretty people in pretty places with no other substance? However the story started to become significantly more interesting after that powered by superfluous acting skills from the leads. I was utterly mesmerized and entertained. Surpassed my expectations exceedingly!!
Oh my - my only gripe is that this needs to be another 5 episodes longer!I read some comments about how good this drama is but I have been hindered by how tricky it is to source the drama. I have an Iqiyi and Netflix account and I don't really want to start another subscription. In the end I had to use a streamed website ( with ad blocker) which I don't normally used. After finishing I realized I should have just paid to join amazon Prime or HBO. The drama alone is worth a subscription.
This drama deserves a 9 in MDL in my opinion. I think the rating is on the low side because it is so difficult to find it. I watched the ever popular Pursuit with Jades in Netflix prior to SOT and I must say the later drama blew my mind away so much more. The story telling and the pace are brilliant. There were no dulled moments and the story kept me guessing right to the end. Scripts are great and kept the momentum right to the very end. It reminded me of my first time watching the drama Reset. There were no fillers. I love all the actors.
Do watch this. It has surprisingly landed in my top 10 list.
