You nailed it with this review. Thank you for putting it in words. I was disappointed with the adult years, but loved the school episodes. So sweet and full of youthful innocence.
The actors were less convincing in the adult episodes as well.
The comparison with the novel is very interesting. One of the reasons I like this drama is cos Fuyao is so strong. A warrior princess, and not one of those damsels in distress characters :)
Brilliant review! Thank you for articulating my frustrations with this drama.
The episodes were too long, and seemed rather self indulgent. Thank goodness for FF or I would have dropped the show. All the "comedic" bits got pretty annoying halfway through the show.
Jung Hae In was truly mesmerising in his role. He keeps getting better with each drama he's in <3
Love, love, love your well articulated article. Got me chuckling in many parts. I've never thought about this question, and loved how you analysed the differences :)
BTW 90% of the GIFs are familiar to me. OMG I'm a total K and C drama addict! Hahaha
New fan of Mark Chao, as I just finished Eternal Love. This article is helpful in my hunt for new materials to watch him in. Full on withdrawal symptoms here. Haha
Thanks for the recommendation. The 2 lead's chemistry was amazing, and so believable. I knew they were solid actors but I have so much more respect for both of them after this <3
Great review! I watched till Ep 6, and started to get bored. The music was the last straw. Not even sure why Stand By Your Man was selected.
Such a disappointment when compared to One Spring Night. Glad that the writer and director redeemed themselves with One Spring Night which was beautifully crafted and totally enjoyable.
Oooh...we are on the same page regarding Devil Judge. The first couple of episodes were so slick, especially the contrast between haves and have-nots. But then the show was disappointing in the second half. The finale was truly bad and unbelievable. How can that young dude walk around in the hospital and not get caught?! Didn't help that his acting was underwhelming.
Love, love, love Hot Stove League. Well written, brilliant performances by the cast. A total gem!
The actors were less convincing in the adult episodes as well.
Still a fun watch :)

Love this epic romance too. Mark Chao was glorious indeed xx
Totally agree that Zhang Ruoyun was even more amazing in this role vs his Joy of Life character.
I loved the mix of slo mo and intense action sequences. Gave me a chance to understand the fighting. Haha.
The whole show was crafted so well, down to the minutest of details. Such an enjoyable and magical ride.
Thank you :)
I am thankful too to everyone who made this magic happen ❤️
This was my first Chinese drama after watching many, many K dramas. Such an AMAZING piece of TV magic ❤️

Thank you for the article.
I completed this one recently. Watched the American version years ago. Love both.
Ji Jin Hee did well in this drama. I wouldn't have watched this show if not for him. Was impressed with him on Misty.
Thank you for your review :)
