Thank you for your review. I wandered into this page cos it has the same director of Legend of Mi Yue (which is a brilliant drama).
The comparisons with other top notch dramas are very useful, and piqued my interest to attempt this concubine drama. I usually stay away from this period cos the half-bald men are not so pleasant to the eyes :P
Good review. Bai Yu was excellent. I enjoyed his performances in The Bond and The Wind Blows From Longxi, but he could display his amazing range as Jiang Yang. So glad his voice wasn't dubbed out.
Well articulated review. Agree that the last few episodes were not as good as the rest of the drama. Would have scored a higher rating if the show was more consistent throughout.
Great chemistry between the leads, More sizzle compared to The Starry Love.
Another well written review from one of my fave reviewers 🙂 Was loving this show so much until the last few episodes. Not sure what they were thinking when they put together the ending. Still an enjoyable ride.
And, Jeremy Tsui is such a bonus 😍 That voice.... ❤️❤️
Thank you for the well articulated review. My first J drama, and I loved it. The talented cast, the poignant dialogue and the high production values made this drama a beautiful watch <3
I had stopped watching when the credits rolled. Thank goodness I read your review and went back to the drama :P
Thank you for the review. Love the insights into editors' work and contributions; didn't realise they even analysed the logic of storylines and consistency in characters' actions.
The main leads are not my fave actors in Cdramaland, but they were just super cute together. Their warm chemistry and trust in each other made the watch enjoyable :)
Such a well articulated review, filled with helpful analysis. Thank you.
I just finished the drama. Could only watch an episode a day, but full of respect for the production team and the main cast. Second Bai Yu drama for me, and I totally enjoyed his performance. Chen Kun is of course brilliant.
I'm still in the midst of watching this drama. Sneaked a peek at your review... whilst hoping to avoid spoilers. Hahaha.
I was thinking of dropping it during the early episodes. The not-so-epic title and the poster gave me a romcom expectation. But the chemistry between the leads was underwhelming plus there were way too many obstacles blocking the relationship. Then again the falling in love bit was quite unbelievable.
The second half of the drama was better, especially when I stopped expecting it to be a romcom. I started watching it like a slice of life in the palace 😄
Reading your review helped to highlight the history that the story is based on. Thank you for that. I'm going to sit back and enjoy the rest of the drama...and stop hoping for a happy ending 🤣🤣
Totally agree with your review. Interesting facet of investigation that I've not watched before, but nowhere close to a good crime drama. 2022's Reset and K-drama Through The Darkness are so much stronger.
The con case using AI was eye opening though. Signs of things to come. We have to be wary of videos and not just scam calls, emails plus text messages.

What is SFD by the way?
Bai Yu was brilliant. His transformation from a young idealistic prosecutor to a broken man was heart-wrenching.
The cast for the hot pot gang was superb. Love their chemistry.

Started Love Lasts Forever today. He's soooo easy on the eyes :P

Will use FF but still push on after reading your review :)

I loved this drama too ❤️
