After she threw the stapler at him, he started feeling the effects of the drug and passed out. He fell into the bathroom - probably hitting his head against the tiles/toilet/cupboard/washbasin.
I've been thinking a lot about the ending scene. When Jaeyi sits on the roof, we clearly hear the sound of footsteps followed by Hongrang’s voice calling her name. This could simply be her imagination, but I don’t think so. I believe that, at this moment, Jaeyi dies, and Hongrang comes to take her to the afterlife, the snowy field. The transition is very calm, Jaeyi on the roof, turning back with a smile, the falling snowflakes, and finally, we see her and Hongrang in the the afterlife. It feels as though her soul slowly left the world of the living. Then we see Hongrang, his face heavy with sorrow. I interpret his sadness as grief over Jaeyi’s death, but then he smiles, happy to see her again. And Jaeyi’s last words, “Farewell.” Just as Hongrang said, "Farewell" can mean goodbye, or hello - signaling the hope of seeing someone again. Maybe, in that moment, Jaeyi comes to terms with her death. She says farewell, not as an ending but as the beginning of their reunion. Why else would she turn back with that knowing smile? She must have seen him. She was happy because they could finally be together again. Jaeyi and Hongrang are like the two sparrows Mujin gave Jaeyi. He told her they mate for life—when one dies, the other follows. And that’s what happened. Jaeyi opened the orphanage, ensured the children who had suffered because of the prince were cared for, and then let go of her life, choosing to follow the one she loved.
I had a hard time accepting the ending—it felt too tragic at first. But analysing the final scene has given me some closure.
I feel so deeply hurt by the ending. This drama is nothing but marriage propaganda. I thought we had moved beyond these kinds of stories at least a couple of centuries ago.
Just watched coffee prince recently and discovered the cast and I’m pretty surprised she never made it big by…
She used to be one of the top actresses at some point, but the fashion plagiarism scandal ruined her career completely. Makes me sad to this day, I loved her dramas.
