And the fact that Saki's biological father is a rapist makes this 100000 times worse and also the fact that Saki's…
Sorry to put up a correction three years after this was posted – this is for people who want to watch the show so you can ignore this – but the villain wasn't Saki's real father. It seems like he believed it but the mother confirms in one of the last episodes that the biological father isn't the villain but her deceased husband. That being said, I agree that the father's reaction was completely off the mark (based on the dialogue I interpreted it as him not knowing whether to believe Gouzou's story or the wife, but why would you even consider believing the villain's version of the events?)
Where can i watch it with decent subtitles? I tried on dramacool, kissasian etc but there are all from the same…
https://www.d-addicts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=165999&hilit=Shijukara This sub release is better. You'll need to create an account and then find RAWs to download separately (the forum post recommends Hikari riders, I haven't tried them), or in the worst case download the hard subbed release and have the soft subs playing on top
It premiered in Cannes, so must have had English- as well as French-subtitled screenings then. It already was…
It's true that it has had official English/French subtitles since May (and I was able to see it at the cinema with French subs this summer so I can confirm that they exist lol), but it usually takes some time before the official subs of "festival/cinema-first" movies show up online. At the time of me writing the comment there weren't even any fansubs that were out (though now there are, of varying quality)
That's a positive surprise in that case, because around two months ago I found the marketing to be fairly poor compared to e.g. The Handmaiden
I hate her passionately ever since I watched one of her dramas where she made the wife forgive and return to her…
Sorry for asking after such a long time, but do you remember which drama it was (I don't want to potentially end up adding a show with such a bullshit twist to my PTW)?
Thanks for the recommendations - i havent watched any of those. Are the visual quality good? Dramas in the 1970/80s…
Most of these have not received a HD remaster, but most of them have had recent TV re-runs and/or DVD releases and are available in decent quality. However, those are often only available on private sites, so if you don't have access to one of those, it can be hard to find quality uploads.
The 1980s saw a lot of great j-dramas, unfortunately far fewer of them seem to have been subtitled compared to shows from the 1990s and later. The number of shows from the 1970s that have been subbed is even closer to zero. With that being said, I recommend the following 1970s/1980s shows: Ponytail wa furimukanai Chikyoudai (partially subbed) Hana no Asuka-gumi! Seishun Ourora Spin: Swan no Namida Sukeban Deka 1 and 2 (both have been subbed, season 3 is unsubbed and I haven't seen that one yet) Aries no Otometachi Shoujo Commando Izumi (subbed) Sailor Fuku Hangyaku Doumei Akai Meiro Akai Giwaku (no English subs, but it aired in China as "血疑" so maybe it has Chinese subs) Akai Unmei
What hype? The movie isn't getting much hype in the first place.
I've noticed some hype among fans of Korean/Asian cinema, but overall it's been much more muted compared to The Handmaiden. The problem is that a lot of people expect all of his movies to be like Oldboy and are disappointed when it's not
That being said, I agree that the father's reaction was completely off the mark (based on the dialogue I interpreted it as him not knowing whether to believe Gouzou's story or the wife, but why would you even consider believing the villain's version of the events?)

Also, since you mentioned color, I find that a lot of 80s and sometimes late 70s show actually look nicer in that aspect. A lot of 90s (and 00s) dramas seem to have a more washed out color scheme which I'm not a big fan of, though I believe that also depends on other factors such as the production company. You can judge for yourself from some of these openings/clips:

I think I might have seen something about it. I'm not too big on those types of shows and superhero stuff in general though
With that being said, I recommend the following 1970s/1980s shows:
Ponytail wa furimukanai
Chikyoudai (partially subbed)
Hana no Asuka-gumi!
Seishun Ourora Spin: Swan no Namida
Sukeban Deka 1 and 2 (both have been subbed, season 3 is unsubbed and I haven't seen that one yet)
Aries no Otometachi
Shoujo Commando Izumi (subbed)
Sailor Fuku Hangyaku Doumei
Akai Meiro
Akai Giwaku (no English subs, but it aired in China as "血疑" so maybe it has Chinese subs)
Akai Unmei
It’s still showing in theaters so it’s probably going to take a while before it’s out online
It's on Dailymotion though it's unsubbed
