Question for the novel readers. Could it be that they merged two characters to create WY?

I must admit I regret reading that part before actually watching it because they did so much more in the novel and diluted the impact of this scene for me. I think I would’ve felt so much more if I had watched it first then read it. Him losing control then his restraint.
