Title Against the Current Spoiler
how would we know since we haven't watched it yet either
Well, there are snip bits released on weibo and I meant to ask the people who have previously read the novel.
Everyone is saying that only after having their first child does Jinqi know her identity but I truly don't want that. It would be like betrayal wrapped in gold and woven with diamonds.
She should at least trust Jinqi this much that when he took her to her families grave then she should've told him her true identity and who she truly is. The only reason their marriage isn't able to move or even start is because of a wall. And that wall is her identity. Jinqi has no idea and nor can he do anything about it. I just feel so pissed off at Lanxiang sometimes. I understand where she is coming from and she was forced into this marriage and I feel she resents him quite a bit due to her past but I also sometimes think that the screenwriters are really dragging this plot to an extent where I as an audience just don't feel excited anymore.

Guys according to the preview of episode 39, does Lanxiang tell Lin Jin Qi about her identity? And what does Jinqi mean in the preview of episode 40 when he says "the child I have never met?"

DAMNNNNN. I am genuinely so amazed by today's episodes. Just when I thought the drama was getting a tiny bit slow, they speed it up and honestly, I can't wait. Will we only get one episode for the next week? And when does she tell jinqi about her identity? PLSSS JUST RELEASE IT ALL AT ONCE NOWWW. I TRULY CANNOT WAIT ANY LONGER

Haha. True. I don't think there are too many true haters who don't want him to learn and find a way to redeem…
@grapejuice lolllll 😂
He deserves the cold treatment though but I am glad his character is slowly improving ❤️‍🩹

I don't hate him and I think that's definitely a testament to Liu Xue Yi's ability but also how the writers have…
@PReid I agree with you, I am also giving his character a chance because he's already showing improvement in his temperament. By hating his character I mean every character in the show also hates his character other than some of his family members, like in a drama the ml is liked by mostly all supporting characters but here everyone has some sort of resentment with him and that's understandable considering his role in the drama.

Im genuinely amused that this is the first Chinese drama I have seen where everyone hates the ML 😭😅
It's low-key amusing bcuz the main leads are said to be likeable and every character likes them but it's the opposite here and I find that really refreshing 😂
And favourite scene has to be the "we are not really a young newlywed couple"😂😂
And ever since jinqi has been dressing more mindfully to look more young

Wait so I saw the trailers too and I'm confused. How did Lin Jinqi rebel and how were those charges placed on him? And why did Zhao Xingting give Lanxiang the evidence? And why was she in such a bad shape?

Nooo if it's a sad ending then my rating will definitely fall 😭
If it's a natural death due to old age then that's understandable and acceptable and watchable but if they kill off the ml early on then I would be so pissed off and upset and then I'll retreat/run off to my butcher couple 😭

Wait, then will it be a sad ending? The other screenwriter wrote love in nirvana and that's sad ending too 😭😭 nooooooo.
Pls make it a memorable ending and not a sad ending. I know death is a natural occurrence which is bound to come to everyone but personally I don't like seeing sad endings especially in dramas like I'm watching dramas to escape the reality for a while so I obviously don't want the characters dying yk what I mean? That may not be the right approach for watching dramas but cmon it's supposed to be entertainment so I certainly don't want sad entertainment 😭

The story also feels so real bcuz the plot was built up not like jumping straight into it yk what I mean?
The writing also feels so consistent for every character is also bcuz of the number of episodes. We are able to see character development for each of the character present in the drama. We can see the character development of the maids, guards, politicians, everyone and I think that makes it so much more interesting and I really like how the characters react to the situations. Every character has a different approach on navigating the situation though it may not always be right.
If Lanxiang was Shen Jialun then I am 100% sure she would've succumbed to Jin qis behaviour and would fit/change herself according to the lin families expectations but after all she went through being Lanxiang was able to make her an independent character with a tough skin who knows what she wants and doesn't succumb to the outcomes.
Jin Qi lacks consent and considering as he's the eldest son, never had his authority challenged and constantly making decisions for everyone made him into who he is. Even though he knows he's wrong, but just because he knows it's wrong doesn't mean he is always willing to change our ways, it's human nature and I am very curious how the writer will develop his character further.

People need to stop bashing LX because the truth of the matter is, you all would feel the same in her situation…
I agree with you. We judge the drama characters on the basis that we can see their future in the drama but as we are living our own life, we cannot see or even predict our future so how can we be sure that we wouldn't have acted the same way when put into such a setting.

Okay, so I'm currently on episode 22 and my guess is the disposed crown prince is scholar han. He is hiding his left hand and he looks similar to the portrait.

OMG I watched blossom and it was good but tbh I am not into resurrection plots 😭
I don't believe in resurrection and I end up dropped resurrection plots. I only watched blossom before as the forward episodes looked promising 💗💗

So I watched til episode 20 and ITS TOTALLY WORTH ITTT. This is the first drama after pursuit of jade that has got me this interested and I am legit binge watching. I am so glad I decided to watch this later and I have many episodes saved up 😋
I really like how the story is building and it doesn't feel rushed. The pace is perfect and neither is the drama too slow. It's at the perfect pace. We can see the ML's feelings slowly building and FL is just trying to survive. I really enjoyed the character of Lanxiang and her ability to survive. I am so glad this is not like the revenge based story. I am so fed up with revenge based stories because we all know that in the old times, revenge wasn't really that easily achievable. Just trying to survive was enough. This story is genuinely so realistic. It actually feels like this was someone's life back then. I actually appreciate the realism.
And liu xueyi is genuinely so underrated and this is the first drama of tan songyun I was able to enjoy full heartedly. She has good scripts but her scripts aren't really my cup of tea so I most of the times dropped at episode 1. Tan songyun is such a good actress, she's able to portray her emotions so well as well as Liu Xue Yi, you can actually feel his emotions through his eyes, as if his eyes says everything before his mouth. I am so glad he wasn't shown as the battle hardened general type man. This storyline/drama is really a fresh piece. I am enjoying this alottt. It'll definitely make it to my list of top 5.
My top 5 historical cdramas currently are love like the galaxy, pursuit of jade, against the current, legend of the female general and the princess royal.
(Someone recommend more of tan songyun's dramas)
