Wasn’t it the same scene and the only change is that it landed on his cheek? What other changes were made to make it mor dramatic? I thought they stayed real close to the novel.

I was reading translated excerpts and if I am matching this right they were in a banquet and CSS was watching LBY play an instrument. He looked so handsome that she drank wine from his cup and mustered courage to kiss him. Since she was tipsy it landed on his throat instead. They changed it I think from throat to cheek.
I probably rewatched select episodes more than I care to admit. Now I’m twiddling my thumbs waiting for Tuesday to come. Also lost interest to start watching a new drama that I don’t know what to do. Lol. LLTG what have you done to me?
So while waiting, I want to list out what I am anticipating in the next eps:
1. First kiss I’m anticipating the first kiss so much that I hope it happens next week. Moreso what the circumstances were that lead to it. Would both of them be sleepless again after? The scene were LBY’s bodyguard said he strolled all night bec he was excited was soooo cute. I hope that some kind of confession will happen too so that LBY will feel assured and not take back his heart anymore.
While I’m also wanting more intimate scenes than just a kiss, i know I may never see that here. Lol. Maybe a pleasant surprise will show up.
2. FL schemes to avenge herself Bits of the trailer show CSS getting bullied again, I hope her revenge will be satisfyingly done. Not just a slap but more of a takedown.
3. FL character development I want to see her be more mature (i sometimes forget she is just 15) but have a more realistic view of the world and how she would accept relying on LBY more or accepting his protection.
Trying to untangle my thoughts around Yuan Shen as I am rewatching the episodes. Something that was always confusing…
I actually think he is very attracted to her but at the same time resents her for being uneducated. He cares for his reputation very much and his ego takes precedence over his feelings. What is contradictory is I feel that If CSS shows him even a hint of interest , he would not care anymore about her lack of education.
He was planning to male a move by volunteering to be her teacher but didn’t anticipate LBY will be faster and would actually propose. He thought CSS will be sad and will take time to move on from her broken engagement. That actually made him resent her again for giving in to LBY.
Our female lead is very well written. Not to compare again with other dramas, but I am tired of the weak, plain…
LBY scared her the most, as he has power and influence. She never thought to look at him differently even if people told her that he seems interested. That prob helped fuel LBY’s attraction to her more. She wasn’t even trying to get his attention and even if he left hints - she didn’t take advantage. She looks at him as someone out of her league. She often misunderstood that his moves were to control her and that made her more defensive and put her shield up to protect herself. Regardless of how intimidating he is, our FL does not back down and still talks back honestly. So refreshing to have the FL be this way. She doesn’t care if it turns him off but stays true to what she feels and thinks.
The author should really be commended. The writing style is a great mix of family, love and politics. I wish there…
Our female lead is very well written. Not to compare again with other dramas, but I am tired of the weak, plain and submissive personality. The author had her strong at the beginning, fighting building strong character while in the care of her grandma and aunt. To survive, she had to be cunning, outwit and plan schemes. She also didn’t submit to her parents, voiced out her opinion even if she knows it can get her in trouble. Wow! What a fighter!
When it comes to love, she is very self aware and knowing she lacks education. She chose to marry Yao as she thought he is her ticket to freedom. Finally someone who will care for her, not laugh at her for being uneducated and will cater to her whims. She didn’t care if her parents did not approve as she thought they don’t love her as much anyways and will be glad to get rid of her.
The author should really be commended. The writing style is a great mix of family, love and politics. I wish there is an english version of the book as I want to really read it.
BUT the director was also amazing He was able to capture the flurry of emotions translate over to the small screen so effectively that viewers can feel the characters (with great casting of course!)
The 3 men captivated by CSS is not your typical love triangles. Unlike other dramas who include interests just to incite jealousy.
Yao was definitely puppy love,. It was short and sweet. He was adorable, always eager to please CSS and playful. But I was so moved when these 2 agreed to withdraw the marriage and crying while looking at each other. He didn’t want to let go and she was the same. They tried to hold on and realized that they have to sacrifice for the greater good.
LBY was her greatest love but represents the most challenging one. Both of them were not experienced how to express their emotions and being stubborn opted to “feel” it out. CSS had trouble realizing that LBY loves her and thought he only wants to help her out. She had not felt real love from her parents and being so young, she has yet to grasp how to show her love as well. Their relationship is tumultuous but is the most intense. He brings excitement like no other and you always wonder what will happen next. He is the type of guy your parents would not want for you. A rebel, dark, brooding and oh so dangerous!
I know a lot of people here don’t like YS, I maybe one of the few who likes him. He is intelligent and has a lot of pride. Used to women adoring him, he didn’t know how to also express his interest and couldn’t accept that he liked a girl like CSS. So he ended up trying to get her attention in the most annoying way possible bec that is the only time she would acknowledge him. He is wanting to test if she would Like him back and hope that she would show some signal so he can confess. He doesn’t want to be turned down. For me, He represents the most stable of the 3. You know that kind of man that will be the safest choice. He can give you a stable and quiet life, yet he does not bring out the passion, the same excitement that LBY does.
These 3 to me represent the different stages/types of love.
Wish they make a modern thriller drama ( like City hunter or similar) and call it " Don't be affraid, I'm here…
Yeah and I really can’t get over the way LBY’s expression shift. Fierce and then so tender when he looks at her. Gawd, how can she resist that. That tender gaze makes my knees weak. Such a strong manly man afraid of nothing, overprotective and overbearing YET, when in love can be such an adorable puppy. LBY you have to take responsibility for me. Lol.
Rewatching episodes to get through the wait till Tuesday. Their romance unfolding slowly is what got me hooked! “Don’t be afraid, I’m here” - LBY’s reassuring statement heard many times in different episodes is so swoonworthy, I’m amazed CSS was able to resist falling for him much earlier.
