For me, it depends on what kind of personality you have. Since I’m an intense person and a romantic - I would go for LBY.
This kind of love is a once in a lifetime, passion filled and enduring thing. While tumultuous, it is also the most rewarding emotionally. If I choose the safe path, I would always have what ifs and be unhappy with YS.
As the upcoming episodes will be more intense and as the drama come closer to the end, I thought a little reminder is in order.
Opinions and criticism are welcome. Everyone is entitled to express their feelings, emotions and thoughts. However, there’s a fine line in being transparent vs being downright disrespectful. Healthy discussions are encouraged but it’s never okay to force others to agree or accept your opinion.

Not sure if you’re aware, the novel from where this was based was altered for the drama storyline. She was supposed to be from modern times who traveled back to the ancient era. It’s a topic not allowed for Tv 📺 so they changed it, hence the blurred lines and gray areas.
Despite this, it’s still worth watching. The viewers will have to discern on their own and hopefully focus on its main purpose- entertainment.

IMO, it is not promoting or trying to cultivate downplaying a woman’s role in society or sending a message that being conservative is the right path.
I like it for its entertainment value and a refreshing take of how it was back then. Made me thankful that I didn’t exist back in those days of oppression. Also, I am more thankful I am reaping the benefits of a semi woke society. We still have ways to go but I am hopeful we will get there.
One of my beloved characters (aside from the main leads of course!) are LBY’s aides. Most commendable is Ah Fei with his consistent and effective delivery of comedic relief. He and his buddy (I can’t remember his name), I would say their dynamics is superb. One so serious, a perfect foil to AF with his naive/blunt personality. I hope to see more of him in future eps.
Noteworthy scenes (in no particular order)
1. LBY noticed his wound was dressed and asked him who treated it. Ah Fei admits it was CSS and praised the young lady that she wasn’t afraid of blood and gore. He got confused why LBY seemed upset and asked his buddy, who retorted, you should have cut your arm off instead of having it treated. His confused face got me laughing. 2. Rattling to the emperor that LBY’s wound got infected because he rushed to save CSS and not the governor. His buddy tried to hush him and it was too late, he had to tell the emperor everything. 3. Accepting Princess Yuchang’s invite and getting punished for it, then mentioning to LBY that CSS will attend and he was confused that the general changed his mind . He admitted throwing the invite away and LBY said are you healed? If you don’t find the invite, you will get beaten again. His expression was priceless! 4. Yawning as they were escorting CSS to the Palace and saying he accompanied the young master in his midnight stroll. His buddy explained that it was due to his first kiss and that the general was excited. Ah Fei responded that he would gladly not kiss girls if he could sleep in longer. The other aid then retorted, you can forget about sleeping in, we have to do this for sometime as the general is worried about his bride to be. AF groaned and I was rolling in laughter. 5. Ah Fei hunched down to serve as the footstool for CSS and she said why didn’t you prepare one? AF responded, if we prepared a footstool, how can the young master carry you in the carriage. His timing and delivery was perfect!

Someone else said that in this forum that he planned to die. I interpreted that more as the risk and potential consequence of his revenge plans.

It’s okay to feel irritated. We are all invested in this drama that we want to influence or question what the characters are doing. Said this many times, that’s the beauty of this piece.
We have multiple interpretations of the whys and it affects us when things don’t go the way we expected it to. It’s like life and thats why I love this dram so much!

While I do not completely disagree,I think it’s simply human nature. He didn’t sought her out, fate brought them together, too many chance encounters with near death experiences. Love is not predictable, you don’t know when and who it will be. BUT when it does, rarely do you decide with your head and rely on what your heart tells you.
Isn’t that how love is often described? Those who go through it almost says the same thing. It was unexpected, overwhelming and decisions are hard to make. There is a tendency to go for happiness and sometimes this results to hurting the person you love. People had said love make you irrational and reckless.
This was not an exemption for LBY, he didn’t plan to fall in love, so when it happened he acted on impulse. He wanted to be with her, bec CSS = happiness. I found that especially more intense for him since he has not experienced giving or receiving love. Yet for a first timer, he was more transparent and burning with passion. I don’t think he thought this out that carefully which unlike his plots/schemes which is almost always perfect, he also didn’t know what to do.
What he knows is right now, he is happy for the first time ever in his life. His protective instincts are on overdrive as he wants to shield her from harm (w/o realizing he can bring her the biggest hurt) and that he is always looking forward to seeing her.
It’s easy to judge from where we are standing, but I think most of us know this - it’s hard when you are the person involved. If you were the person in the relationship, you will have a hard time letting go of the person you love. Again , heart over head, happiness first over everything. That is human nature.

I think everyone here would agree people don’t exactly plan when to fall in love and if it does happen, you cannot control it. You tend to act selfish sometimes because it makes you feel good. He doesn’t realize yet how it would hurt CSS and all he knows is he wants to make her happy. Loving someone tends to blindside you, you don’t intend to hurt anybody and end up doing so anyway.
Both are first time learners of love. So for me, they are expressing it the best way they can.
