Then she met an earnest young man who showered her with affection and allow her to do everything she wants. He…
Oftentimes she misunderstood his words and actions. Her brain tells her - I cannot be controlled! So she remained stubborn and unyielding. But slowly without realizing it, he was chipping away at her wall.
One day she thought to herself- he is not too bad afterall.
Then she met an earnest young man who showered her with affection and allow her to do everything she wants. He…
While she never really thought about him often, she often wondered why he treats her well.
As fate would have had it, their paths crossed again and he asked for her hand in marriage. So she ended up engaged again with this brooding man who she fears a little bit.
A beautiful, poignant story of 2 individuals destined to meet and fall in love. Both headstrong, vengeful, reckless,…
Then she met an earnest young man who showered her with affection and allow her to do everything she wants. He must be the one - that’s what she thought.
Finally she was happy for once in her young life. Then as luck would have it, they had to part ways.
She bumped into this very intense general who always seem to show up in times of need. He would be there to rescue her and even colluded with her to get even with bullies.
A beautiful, poignant story of 2 individuals destined to meet and fall in love.
Both headstrong, vengeful, reckless, protective, smart and with a hidden intense desire to love and be loved.
A man with such a tragic past that consumed his entire being. He shun away from people and remained focused on his ultimate goal -Uncover the truth and the perpetrators behind the death of his family and people. This was his destiny.
He patiently waited a decade to fulfill his oath of revenge. But fate wasn’t kind - or was it? A carefree young lady entered his life, knocked the wind out of his sails as he wondered for the first time - can she be the one?
She was not the typical virtuous noblewoman - in fact she was the opposite. Rough, brave but incredibly beautiful. While his curiosity was piqued, he later learned that she got engaged. So he dismissed the thoughts of love and was content to watch her from afar.
Oh the young lady was not looking for love, only freedom. Her parents abandoned her at birth and upon their return, her mother disliked her crude manners. She couldn’t wait to get out and explore the world.
Oh my! It was the same for me. When that misunderstanding happened, I kinda lost interest and skipped a lot of scenes bec I was curious how they will make up.
The kiss scenes were better than what we got from LLTG though. Lol.
Empress Xuan’s death scene made me cry so much that I can’t breathe. She was such a beautiful person who didn’t…
The Cheng family finally realizing their shortcomings, most especially the mom. She realized her mistakes and owned all of it of her daughter. Even grandma! With a 180 deg change, recognizing her faults and accepting her granddaughter now.
I loved how they stood by her in her most difficult moments, coming in to the rescue for fights. First in rescuing LBY and the final battle at Guo city. They were so impressive charging in the right moments. Honestly thought the women of the family were better in the fight scenes compared to the men (mom QiQi, Xing Cong). I giggled when I saw YY as part of the encourage, i was like how can she fight? Lol.
It truly came full circle with the first and last episode focusing on their family.
Empress Xuan’s death scene made me cry so much that I can’t breathe. She was such a beautiful person who didn’t…
Shaoshang’s last act of defending HBY was so moving. She had a lot of scenes that made me cry a river.
Her ability of picking up on the smallest things and figuring out LBY’s true identity is a true testament of their connection. Almond allergy, facial likeness to general Huo, personality differences with his cousin.
Even with the betrayal, she couldn’t help but still lookout for her man. Playing the flute so he can allow treatment gave me a lot of goosebumps. (Was this in the book?)
Is it okay to talk about certain scenes now? 👀 I’m officially not over it yet and very sad that I have nothing…
Empress Xuan’s death scene made me cry so much that I can’t breathe. She was such a beautiful person who didn’t deserve to be unloved and a mother to such unworthy kids.
Even the Emperor knows that she shouldn’t have suffered that much and felt so guilty.
Her last words will stay with me for a while: I was lucky to marry you but in my next life, I wish I will never meet you.
I’m officially not over it yet and very sad that I have nothing to look forward to next week. Probably my last chance to talk about the greatest drama I’ve ever seen..
I will just share my favorite scenes from the last episodes.
I could only think of the story of Minglan but it's too darn long. Personally my favorite mainland Chinese drama…
Thanks! I know its from the same author and I tried to watch it. It does require a lot of attention and unfortunately it didn’t catch mine. Will it make sense to start at 26? Or I wouldn’t be able to follow along?
Binged watched the express package and only paused to work in between. Funny how I felt work was getting in the way and I’m glad I was still able to finish the rest of the episodes.
Bittersweet to see this drama come to an end, and while I was worried about consistency- the team delivered. The angst, closure for all characters and the reunion was just perfection.
How they condensed the twists and still able to convey what is needed was amazing. I could have used one more episode for our main couple, but I understand. This isn’t your typical love focused drama afterall.
Thank you to the amazing cast, production team and everyone involved in bringing this drama to life. You picked a superb story and to convert such a passive viewer like me - speaks for itself.
I’m now a fan of the director and hope to see more of his work in the immediate future.
Hope you guys enjoy watching and see you in the next life changing drama!
Anything with the same caliber or at least close to it? Please let me know, preferably upcoming or recent releases. ( i have seen LBFAD, TLB, ADOS, WRTW)
I marvel at how actors can play the part of being in love and not get carried away after filming. Is it like an on/off switch?
Some say to be more realistic and get into the character, you forget who you are and be that person. If so, how is it easy to just disregard that after and go back to who you are. Or if you do end up falling in love, do you get attracted to the real personality or the character they played?
How do you resist the temptation of also being surrounded by beautiful people ALL the time? Ghad, this is such a tough yet glamorous job.
Not to mention seeing that person constantly that in some cases are longer than real relationships. So fascinating.
Maybe I’m just weak, if WL looks at me like LBY, I would fall instantly. Head over heels first take. LOL.
The perfect final episode for me is they are already married, the house is built with CSS’s supervision, LBY smiling more and with a relaxed expression, more intimacy (longer kissing scenes) and at least pregnant with their first child. I want to see a playful LBY and a less guarded CSS, their family life.
200% focused on the romance between the main leads for the final episode, please. Lol! 😅
I know I am not going to get it, but one can only hope. Drama gods if you are listening please help! i need my fix.
The grand tutor and his wife are slimey and detestable characters but they didn’t make LBen do those things.…
I understand and this is a touchy subject. I always believe there is a root cause. For every action, there is a reaction. Did it solve the problem? I think it didn’t bec ultimately the tutor and madam still are free, just banished from the capital. Will it make them nicer people? I don’t think so, so some accountability should be in their hands. i know its not easy but I like LBen, he was just unfortunate to be born in this family.
But there's no excuse for murdering a whole family including the women and children, just for a bit of greed or…
Yeah not saying I agree with what he did, murdering people is not the solution to get what you want.
I don’t think he is inherently evil as you can see his sincerity with his wife and brother. It is the circumstances that led him to think he doesn’t have any recourse but to do this. His weakness was giving in to his ambition and not caring about the consequences.
We can also say the same thing about LBY, his desire for revenge consumed his being. He ended up murdering people, doesn’t matter if they were evil. Does it excuse his behavior? No, would you think he is an evil person? Maybe but if you know his backstory, it makes you more understanding of why he is that way.

This scene for me was unnecessary but I’m blinded with the puppy love they had and want to keep it that way.
So i was trying to analyze if this was more for closure for LY? He can finally let go of her and focus on his wife.
He is struggling to cope right now and have to live in Hua county where many happy memories occurred.
Now he can no longer even escape to this perfect memory of his ex fiancée.
