Maybe i should veer off romance for a while or chinese dramas so I don’t compare. Oh no, how do I do that.

Can’t decide what’s worst, waiting for new episodes or now that there is no waiting game anymore and it’s over. 🥲

Tried going back to LBFAD, but I found myself comparing it again to this and finding it too flat. I can’t stay focused.

This ruined me. I should go back to kdramas to reset and check out the longest promise once it’s out.

It does shed a little bit of light, because I was confused if it was related to censorship or rating (w/c doesn’t make sense) the bloody scenes is enough to get that out of the way even the family and politics arc, younger audience will not be able to relate.

It was done in good taste and I wasn’t expecting like a wall kiss (now that I think about it lol) or anything tasteless. Just a humble opinion of young, reckless love where you are pretty much very physical. Haha

Not saying it’s unacceptable just a tad inaccurate if you ask me. His words and actions almost perfect, but with a love like that, I can’t expect a peck. Lol.

But this is just wishful thinking on my part trying to understand if it was a censorship issue or whatever. I know I can no longer change anything ay this point. Still my most loved drama of all
time.

Yeah I mean I don’t expect it to end like in a bedscene or whatever but at least your heads moving! Hahaha

True that. This is definitely the best I have seen from her works so far. She can play both comedic and serious scenes so well. Like I can’t forget when she punched herself after the fight with Wang Ling and she looked cross eyed. The strong female lead is what made me keep watching the series in the first place.

IMO, he shone in this drama more than her, not her fault, but maybe because of the way the story was written.

Yeah you probably guessed it right. How disappointing as it’s the only “flaw” I can see rn. The devotion didn’t come out in the kiss!

That’s why I was confused, the story is not for kids, so why the holdup?

I’m kinda used to it even with kdramas and i feel like it’s always tied to viewership rating. Honestly who kisses like that in real life? Be it in ancient or modern times.lol. So I actually find it refreshing if its more passionate because that’s how life truly is.

But as you get to watch more historical dramas, you would see some have “better” kiss scenes. Hahaha I’m really hung up on this.

Oh its a restriction on his part? Wow didn’t expect that, as I’ve seen quite a number of Lusi’s dramas and she had better kissing scenes in the past.

Uh oh to portray romantic male lead roles would be challenging if they keep it too tame.

It is still a masterpiece, not saying it wasn’t anymore bec of some kissing scenes. While the title conveys passionate love, the drama was not too focused on it so I was wondering why the intensity didn’t carryover in the kissing part. I keep saying the separation would have kindled overbrimming emotions coupled with near death experiences. So tender kisses were not what I expected. Still loved the drama the same way despite this!

Yeah makes sense for the first part of the story, but after the 5yrs separation, they are no longer too young. Both mid 20’s at the time. So i was kinda expecting an intense passion after being separated for too long. Lol.

I think I have not praised the acting chops of the actors enough. While the drama was a total package, it would not had the same impact if the actors were mediocre. I’ve gotten a little used to blank expressions, sometimes it’s only the eyes reflecting emotions or it’s the dialogue expressing the sentiment. But no, it wasn’t the case for this drama.

WL is such an amazing actor and was outstanding in his portrayal. Like he truly embodied LBY to the point where you can’t imagine a different actor in this role.

It’s like he weathered a multitude of life changing experiences, which probably is not the case. His eyes, his face (the shaking cheekbones made its mark), the deep timbre of his voice and even his lips. All of it worked well together, so the audience gets carried away with his scenes. And dare I forget, how he manages to shift his emotions fast like totally murderous/ruthless one second, then tender loving emotion, the next one - it seemed to be changing effortlessly with a flick of a finger!

You love and hate him with so much intensity, that’s how effective it was. If he
doesn’t get an award for this, it would be
very disappointing. While I tried to watch
TLB, he was already showing promise
there but LLTG is like it was made with
him in mind.

Like if the author while writing this epic novel and tried to imagine/picture LBY, She was conjuring WL.

Looking forward to more of his future roles. I want to see him in a lighter type of role but I’m conflicted because it’s a total waste of his talent.

Off topic- why is the kissing scenes so tame? I’ve seen more intense ones in ADOS and would have loved that type of intimacy here esp after the 5 yr separation. Is it because they want to keep it at a certain rating for a wider audience? But the story is too mature for the younger crowd…

The deities didn’t seem to favor these two people. With a strange turn of events, everything that could go wrong- did.

He was backed in a corner and could not fathom a happy life anymore. He felt strongly that he needs to avenge his clan and family. She would find happiness without me, I don’t need to tell her anything - the less she knows the better.

When he was convinced about his plan, she would show up and probe about his thoughts. The young lady would say I will not forsake you as long as you do not forsake me. I will not tell you to stop as long as your honest with me. This confused the young man and he couldn’t let her go. He knows he will hurt her but wanted to be selfish for one last time. I need you badly, he would tell her. Thrice, he almost let everything spill including his identity.

But he told himself - you can’t disappoint her and don’t get her involved. This is your burden, a burden you must bear alone.

She began reciprocating his love, throwing caution to the wind as she confesses her feelings.

The young man was on top of the world, she loves me! - He felt her can do everything. Revenge was at the tip of his fingers and the love of his life in his arms.

His thoughts dared to stray on settling down with her in marital bliss. She will be the mother of my children and I will make her happy for the rest of her life.

It was like a rosebud in the garden, as her love for him bloomed. She started envisioning a future as a family.

But sometimes he would act strangely or ask odd questions, she once asked herself , who is he really? is he keeping secrets from me?

But this young man continued showing his devotion. Until one day - she gave in and took the leap of faith. He is the man destined for me and I do love him, we will build our lives together or so she thought.

Maybe this time I will be lucky and we will be happy forever, she fervently wished.
