Currently subscribed to Tencent, Viki, IQIY, Netflix and not to mention you tube. Yet I can’t stick to watching a single drama. My continue watching list keeps growing, and I always end up switching back to LLTG.
Nothing can hold my attention the same way. I badly want to move on but why is it so difficult? It’s like a recent break-up and I’m still in denial and living in the past.😂
1. YS - he started off the wrong foot, a bit of a narcissist and always mean to our FL. However, I always had a tender spot for this misunderstood fellow. Similar to the main leads, his upbringing was not ideal, unloving parents and a very lonely childhood. He resisted to fall in love, nobody showed him the benefits, all he knows is that it can be cruel. So while he is not your typical ideal man, I think he was sincere with CSS towards the end. His biggest fault was his pride, as he cannot take further rejection. So when he expressed willingness to be with CSS despite her saying her heart belongs to someone else. I was nodding to myself that he had grown up. He was also unselfish towards acknowledging LBY’s love is far greater than he ever could give and saying that outright to his love rival earned him some points in my eyes. Furthermore, I respected that he never schemed to distance the lovers or intentionally cause any misunderstandings between them. He was not a charmer for sure, more often than not I wanna whack his head with his feather fan. But hey, overall he is not so bad IMO.
2. Mother daughter conflict - This took me a long time to understand and I admit I cannot still fathom why she was that way towards CSS. Yes, she is crude and scheming and they didn’t have a relationship, still unimaginable to me how a mother can treat her own daughter that way. Rubbed me the wrong way with the constant comparison with YY. It’s generally uncalled for as she knows her own daughter was raised by her MIL and unkind aunt. Despite knowing the cruelty they showed her and as a military official, I would expect some retribution, but no - instead she showed favoritism with her niece. She seemed to be more motherly towards her sons and would constantly shame her daughter. Can’t believe a mother would be like that, either she is flat out unkind to all her children or be the best mom.
3. Emperor’s obsession with LBY - he is one of the most loved characters, but I call it obsession bec of the way he is always worried about him. I get that he is the sole survivor and remaining bloodline of the Huo clan, that his “uncle” was like a brother, but he has multiple children to worry about. With how he rarely gets into his own children’s affairs baffles me, as obviously the mothers cannot control them. Blood is supposed to be thicker than water- right? Compared to LBY, his children are far less manageable and mature except for the third prince.

I literally watch it several times a day and late night keep it playing till I fall asleep. He said “I thought you said this drama was over”. And I always retort, there might be important parts I missed. He notices me crying for the last few episodes and exasperated that I do that, then giggling uncontrollably at the end.
So he subtly tries to get me to watch something else, prob for his own sanity. And I don’t pay attention at all! 😂

Hahaha! Thanks for trying to explain. I don’t see this kind of arc with western type dramas w/c is why i asked. Lol obv its hot so they try to blow it but i see this on almost evey drama ive watched. Maybe to depict caring for the beloved or arc to develop the relationship.
Please excuse my ignorance as I have been noticing this for a while now. Again, I’m a relatively “new” viewer but I see a pattern in romantic historical dramas (even see this in modern dramas too) and I’m curious to know why it is so.

I was trying to avoid personal events so I don’t ship them. Lol. That would be harder to get over with and knowing it may take yrs for another proj… ghad. This is torture.
Finally got to watch the finale livestream. It was very entertaining and I particularly enjoyed seeing them in normal getup.
WL so adorable with curly short hair and ZL with bangs! The way they mimicked each other and even pretending to talk using the moon light prop. Be still my heart! I rarely ship actors to end up together but they’re so cute!!! Sad to hear that with their schedules we might not see them together in a project until 2-3 yrs from now. Can we get a modern love centric drama? Maybe I will get my fix of kisses by then (yes! Still not over this. Lol)

It was the same circumstance when it was revealed to the royal court. No evidence and just him recounting his memories. The birthmark, i feel like is what could have had proved his identity.
Today should have been a day of anguish and anxiety. The start of the 4 day wait.
So I rewatched the episode where CSS was trying to prove his identity to the royal court.
Can’t help but wonder, with the close relationship he had with the emperor, why didn’t he fess up that he was not LBY? He could have told the emperor, his true identity first ( the birthmark could have been exposed then) and what he witnessed as a kid. I understand not sharing it right away when he was young as they don’t know who they can trust yet.
Then the Ling patriarch could have not killed off the others and exposed his cohorts. Thru torture and everything, they could have captured everyone and gave them what they deserve, a beheading but legally. I feel this was a deviation from the book but maybe not as well.
Both waiting and not waiting is like torture, only without LBY administering it. Have u seen Alchemy of Souls…
This is on my watchlist too, not really a fan of fantasy type genres. Though I like sprinkles of it evy now and then. Like my roommate is a gumiho, hotel luna.

Reeks of desperation - i know! I like the idea of the uncut ver but i fervently crave the story continuation.
