Imo Shen Zaiye (桃花折江山) is better. He is a love fool and can't outsmart Jiang Taohua. Perhaps bcos he is a tsundere (I hate tsundere btw), so it makes him more humane. The way he runs around to smack his love rivals is hilarious.

But among all ML that MZY has so far (based on novel), Song Mo (Blossom) is the best, while the crown prince (Royal Rumors) is the cutest. But Song Mo's position might be in danger bcos of Yan Shang (尚公主) 😅

She chose the crown prince, who has incurable disease and will die young. She plans to make her son the future emperor.

She didn't expect the crown prince is actually a cruel, manipulative, scheming and coldblooded man. He is poisoned when he was a kid, but he could practice martial arts. He pretends to be a weak man who will cough after two steps, and faint in the slightest wind.

FL is coldhearted. She doesn't believe in love. She believes in mutual benefits. So the ML spends hundreds of efforts to win her heart. Even after they get married, she isn't fully love him yet.

The main couple overpower and outsmart everyone, even the villains. However the ML is coldblooded, he doesn't mind using innocent people for his plans. He only cares about FL, although at first he kept lying to her and manipulated her to prevent his lies being discovered by her, bcos he wanted to gain her sympathy and win her heart.

Tbh there is no need to make Xiao Changqing the third wheel bcos we have his brother, Xiao Changying who is in love with Shen Xihe.

FL has coldly rejected him few times, but he still cares about her and protects her from afar. Also, Xiao Huayong is really evil. He threatens EVERY man who harbors feelings for Shen Xihe and will kill them if they don't stop 😒

On chapter 1-2 you will understand Xiao Changqing's love and struggles towards his wife. I can make a list of how much I love this character 😭

Xiao Changqing is extremely smart, as smart as the main couple. After his wife's death, he deeply hates the emperor and willing to lend the couple a hand to overthrow the emperor. Xiao Huayong (ML) sees him as a pawn, while Shen Xihe (FL) sees his quality is worthy to cooperate. Besides his deceased wife, Xiao Changqing only loves his brother, Xiao Changying.

Though later he is suspicious that Shen Xihe carries his wife's soul, after she manipulated the proof and refutes him, he gives up right away. Reason is: his wife and Shen Xihe are completely different.

MZY and XZX are like siblings, I'm excited she could reunite with 2 of her costars 😆

Well I did NOT open the topic about Deng Wei. You and D aka Diyu were talking about him. So I just casually replied with the melon I saw some times ago about him. 🙏

There is a rumor said Deng Wei is almost positive to film Days of Seclusion and Love, but people are against this drama bcos they dislike the novel.

I assume Xu Zhengxi will be Xiao Changqing. In the novel, after his wife died, Xiao Changqing changed into a living corpse. He then plans to get revenge on the emperor. He is a good guy to the end. Besides the ML and FL, he is the 3rd smartest and also my most fave male character 🤭

So happy for this reunion! Meng Ziyi surely likes to reunite with her costars 🤗 Love love love this pairing! When they acted in TLoH as a couple, I was hoping they would reunite and now it came true!!!

However I must say I HATE Xiao Huayong (ML). I have read the novel and I can make a list of why I hate him 😒 After Bai Zihua (JoF), perhaps Xiao Huayong is the only other ML that idc if he dies or lives...
I don't even hate the major 4 villains. I love all other male characters. The author keeps saying Xiao Huayong is cute, but I can't find anything cute about him.

Meanwhile, I assume Xu Zhengxi would be Xiao Changqing? Oh my most fav male character!
Fan Shuaiqi would be Bu Shulin? I saw her pictures and she will be perfect as Shulin!

If you want to know the whole story, you better watch the drama of Legend of the Condor Heroes first bcos this movie focuses on the war between Mongolia and Song. You will get confused with the characters backgrounds and the plot. However if you solely want to watch it for Xiao Zhan, perhaps, then you can watch it without seeing the drama first.

Usually the dvd/bluray ver should be out in 6 months or so. Although, there might be some illegal sites that share the movie faster once they receive the raw video and finish subbing.

I watched this with my mom purely bcos it is Condor Heroes. So this is my first ever watching Xiao Zhan and Zhuang Dafei. Xiao Zhan did great as Guo Jing. He portrayed Jing's innocence and growth very well.

For Zhuang Dafei, well... I will just say about Huang Rong. She feels more like a good girl next door instead. I wonder why the more remake they made, Huang Rong became more and more underwhelming and flat. Either bcos of the acting or the character written. So far from all the remakes, none could even be on par with Barbara Yung (1983 HK ver), except Ariel Lin.

I was pleasantly surprised they used the same scores for the music 😭 I felt like going back to when I watched the 1983 ver, forever iconic. The music, cinematography, the CG are amazing. However as a wuxia, it depends too much on special effects instead of real fighting. I feel like watching 2 immortals or super humans fighting. They fly and control the wind and fire.

Highly appreciate they speak in Mongolian language! And not just one or two sentences, but they speak in Mongolian for almost half of the movie 👍🏻

Overall it was a great movie. Keep in mind that this ver is just a part of Legend of The Condor Heroes that focuses more on the war between Mongolia and Song. For those who never watch The Legend of the Condor Heroes, better watch this last after you finish the series.

p.s I was hoping to see Huang Yaoshi though...

I just started watching and currently on ep 10 without reading the cast list.

Tbh I was surprised to see Sun Zujun in yet another role of a jerk 🤦‍♀️ I wonder why he almost always got this type of character????

Also I didn't expect to see Bai Bingke. I was still "traumatized" by her character in Everlasting Longing that everytime her character appeared I wanted to chop her 😡 Now she plays a female warrior character. I need time to adjust...

Since I'm still on ep 10, I think Zhen Heng and Qiao would make a good couple. Both are gentle, virtuous, brave and intelligent.

I just started watching and currently on ep 10. I think it is good. This is another "going back to the past" drama, but unlike Blossom, the FL is eager to get revenge of the people who hurt her. So far she successfully changed everyone's fate.

It is a pun bcos the novel title's literal meaning is "Nine Folds of Purple". So the books the sage hold are written "Ten Folds of Purple", "Eleven Folds of Purple", etc.

The ending for his father and brother are so much more satisfying in the novel 🤭
