I’ve wanted to watch for a long time and just never got to continuing it. Currently on episode 5 and I have a sinking feeling. Show is amazing and well done so far though, very much enjoying.
What lead me here? Popped up on feed again, plus I watched a film so good recently it’s ruined the romance genre for me lately so here I am back on the dark side.
anyone knows what is the song played at the end when the movie end? i believe it was in the trailer too, tried…
It’s unclear from the movie his real Japanese level due to the attention to detail, but his best Japanese in the movie still has a noticeable accent. Personally I don’t think he’s fluent, but he may be conversational.
I’d imagine the real way to find out is if behind the scenes were ever to be released.
The eclectic mix of familiar faces from both Taiwan and Japan was quite a treat, seeing them all in the same film no less. Jimmy’s (unnamed?) friend also reminds me of the hairstylist in the 2008 Japanese drama, Last Friends, just, from Taiwan rather than Japan.
I’m liking it if equally suffering the second hand embarrassment of how stiff Shirasaki is. Gives me an idea of how it is when someone speaks in honourifics past the normal stage of doing so, eyeballing if he’ll grow later.
hi @Dramalover143 how do you decide what is a BL work and not? does it have anything to do with the tags given…
I’m not who you’re looking for, but from what I’ve watched on this list, the criteria is a romantic or sexual relationship or encounter between two males. At least one (movie) title in here has a single (notable) not-exactly-romantic mxm scene with no romance between those characters.
Most of these have gay romance but not all. I might look at this more as a masterlist of Japanese film & tv that portrays any kind of mxm scene. Call Boy (2018) is not something that is considered BL but appears on this list as it has an element of interest to those who do watch BL.
I just started this, thought it was great, came here, saw the low rating, and thought, "Yeah, it probably is."…
I completely agree with the sentiments here about ratings on MDL…some absolute gems have unfairly low scores while there are some very overhyped undercooked shows with high ratings. There are some high rated gems too, though. (Such as Better Days)
I tend to ignore comment sections and ratings before I get a taste for a drama/film myself.
Wait is this gonna be released like the kdramas where theydo the series and then released the movie.
The speculation at the time was that the events of the movie would be further fleshed out so the pacing is more reasonable, with a continuation post-movie ending. I know this is a really late response, so sorry about that.
I do recall hearing that this would be second half of 2023/4 (heard that a long time ago), but the director, Adiamond Lee, has relatively limited options as far as I’m aware so the question is who would be backing this. I happen to follow her and she’s been pretty quiet for a while now. Weird that the movie is already from 3 years ago.
I have questions! Does this have any romance, post-divorce? Does it have the vibes of a thriller at all? It looks very intriguing but I’d like to know these before I start. (Please don’t spoil who with if there is romance!)
Looks like they did the same thing again. I enjoy competitive shows such as this, but they really haven’t put much thought in for the fact there’s male and female competitors. I had hoped for more thought to go into events that would even the playing field, such as agility and other tasks less focused on sheer force (that, is also largely not considered in proportion to size). It felt as thought the women were less looked down upon than season 1, but still think the PDs could do better on choosing events.
Fitness isn’t just about how much you can lift, or how strong you are in a fight (although I don’t mind the 1v1 concept in Round 1). Agility, balance, coordination for starters. There’s many ways that could make things more interesting. Or, even, combining more elements into one for the games, where one needs strength, agility, and coordination, much more interesting (and less of a strong man competition).
If you like physical competition, I’d recommend Siren: Survive the Island, particularly if you have the same gripes as I do with this.
I didn’t expect such a heavy handed choice to set up a second season in that way. I hope it doesn’t just gloss over what happened.
Having looked up the relevant manhwa info, I guess I’m now looking forward to season 2(?)

If you’re not sure from that, very promising first episode.
