The main lead pair is holding the drama pretty well but the second female and the "adpoted" brother is quite dull in this version. They have not warmed on me and I don't think they will. The male lead though is quite charming and i now understand why they casted him. Have you started watching it yet?

I thought the same! I still think he is very "baby faced" for the role but maybe he will grow on me...gotta say he is a good actor though, lots of expressions and not "stone faced" like a lot of others these days!

Right?! I was scrolling through and literally nobody had mentioned that and I was like WTH is going on? I absolutely loved the original so was like geeking out that she was also in this remake but on the “other side” if you know what I mean. At first I didn’t really understand the casting of the ML but I’m finding the more you watch him, the more charismatic he becomes. Loving him as Tonghao atm. What do you reckon of the current casting of the ML?
Is no one freaking out that the second female lead in the original drama is Qianyu’s Mum in this remake?! No? Just me, alright....it’s sooo nice to see a familiar face from the original! Although I don’t think she looks old enough to be the mum...Looking forward to next weeks episodes!
Been waiting for a more serious fantasy drama as there are sooo many light hearted/shallow ones these days. Glad to finally see an interesting plot and mature characters! Humour is well balanced soo far. Great time to air since a lot of the world is going into self isolation hahaa
ML needs to be given more main roles. Not only is he eye candy but also has extreme talent. I love a man who can cry so naturally. Wasn’t so much invested in the story but more with the main couples chemistry. Seeing the BTS of them together and their natural skin ship makes you love them more. #secondseasonplease
Honestly it’s 2019 and the writers are still going with damsel in distress for Female Leads?! Really? This drama had such potential. I like the side female roles so much better, like Hong Chen and Qing Mei! Why couldn’t the writers put more of the kick ass-ness into the FL? Or at least make her more smart and less rash. Grrr literally wanted to rip half my hair out watching this. Don’t even get me started on Xiao Tai because OMG what is stupid character. Officially dropped. Would not recommend.

Thanks for the heads up but I truely don’t feel like any of the male leads deserve her. Yes the main lead has true feelings for her but the foundation of their relationship was all lies. Right up until they slept together there was no truth in any of their interactions. The yappy brother really grinds my gears as well hahaa and yes I have watched enough dramas to know that a lot of relationships are forged on lies but the lies in this drama just make no sense to me. Sorry for the second rant but this drama had such great potential so I’m very very dissapionted at the moment. P.S I do love the FL make up pallet though. It’s such a flattering pink pallet for her white skin tone! Hahaa

I was in exactly the same boat as most of you here as the FL is kick ass.....until the poor servant girl of her dies in the forest for basically no reason. The story takes a turn for the worst at that point as it just gets superrr messy from then on. For example, that god awful wedding when s*** hits the fan...literally. One, she has seen all the royalty with the identity of Man Yao but apart from the tiniest bit of suspicion from the emperor outside the consorts tomb, nothing else really happened. Secondly she’s meant to be this smart, skilful FL. Why was she soo helpless in those episodes where she was getting pulled around like a rag doll? From the wedding to the tomb and then staying married to that stupid general. And yes the slips get real old real fast. I have watched some of the later episodes raw and the push and pull between the two main leads is so repeataive and we are only at the half way mark. This drama is officially dropped! But each to their own. Rant over! For those who continue I hope you guys enjoy the rest of this drama ????✌️

What a great quote! Summons this drama perfectly. One of the greatest dramas of all time in my books. None of this backward and forward BS that tends to taint every drama these days.
I think of this drama came out 5-6 years ago when weak female leads were still popular it would be be of a hit but the times have changed. Strong female leads are so much more sellable right now. FL in this one is childish, giddy and a little too impulsive. I love Ariel but I really liked her character more on LOCH.

No I haven’t heard that one...I’m glad I didn’t because I hate “absurd” dramas hahaa how do you feel about the drama so far? I’ve heard mixed reviews. Production already looks a bit cheap even in the opening song.
Uhmmm...am I the only one that thinks the opening song sounds rediculously childish? I LOVE Ariel but the opening song makes this drama feel more like a comedy than an epic love story. She once said she disliked her role in ISWAK as the character was a little slow yet she always seems to go for these naive roles...have not started this drama but the opening song has really dampened my mood. Let’s hope I’m proven wrong as this has been a long awaited drama.
Be ready for a very unpopular opinion coming up...lost interest with this drama after about episode 25...the first ten episodes had great pacing but it then got really draggy and boring after. Skipped to the end episodes because I really wanted to see how NQ & SS relationship would play out but I feel like there was little to no character development for either of them which impacted their relationship making it feel inorganic when they officially became a couple. 60 episodes I think was too long and there were too many gap fillers used.
