The drama stayed close to the novel, so that is good. The acting and production are watchable. I don't think we can expect too much from a low-budget bl Cdrama. I think some people will feel frustrated with the main couple and their toxic relationship, but the novel is probably worse. Xiao Bao is a spoiled, rich, sheltered young master who doesn't understand the world. Huai En is a weapon used by his cruel father. He has never felt loved and cared for, so he does not understand or accept certain emotions. He is cold and heartless. Both are dumb in love and have no boundaries. The novel does have a happy ending so I hope it goes the same for the live drama.
