It helps tremendously that He Changxi and He Yanzhao are in the same company. It's easier to promote together and continue with more projects. I'm sure they will shoot season two. They said in a livestream that they have already met with the screenwriter for season two.

Since they're following the novel, this is expected. The detectives were only supporting characters in the novel and didn't show up much and the same goes for drama. They do have a small side story in the extra chapters after the novel ended but I doubt they will showcase that in the drama.

Ohhh…I went back to watch their scene more closely and it does seem that way. They did a good job with the angles.

I think they will keep this part as it is important. Chusan went down on one knee to propose but Liuyi also did the same right after. So both at the same time. It would be important to show that they're on the same mind and heart. At least that is what I think.

The novel and live drama setting is in Hong Kong and the primary language is Cantonese there. They're trying to stay true to the source material.

I'm only stating the year as the setting because some people were confused about it. It was before Hong Kong returned to Chinese sovereignty (in the novel). And Yes, most people from Hong Kong still speak Cantonese.

That's Xia Liuyi’s original name (Xia Hao). He changed it to Liuyi after Boss Chengqing saved him on Children's Day.

Most of the actors are from mainland China but because the novel is written about the late 80s and early 90s in Hong Kong, they have to dub the drama in Cantonese to fit in with the setting. Most people in Hong Kong, especially in those years, spoke Cantonese. Mandarin and Cantonese are not the same language.
