Also, I really enjoyed the scene where he found out she was the little girl from his past. To be honest, I was a little afraid of him finding out so soon would undermine how he felt about her on his own accord and merely relying on the sole memory of the past but the scene exceeded my expectations and was not a cop-out just to fasten the romance. He clearly keeps thinking of her and keeps seeking her out under the pretense of seeing his bride, and the key he hid before he found out was a great addition. The scenery of the reveal, the gentle background music plus the look of longing and regret in his eyes when he found out. Greatly done. I have a feeling this is a sleeper hit drama that won’t get the appreciation it deserves until it’s done airing, much like “imperial coroner” but I’m liking what I see.
Tell me you are in love without telling me you are in love lol. He keeps thinking of her and not wanting to unlock the bracelet. Taking a beating for her just so she can get the medication for her mother. And then leading the investigation to help find out her mother’s death. I love that the drama does what most dramas lack so dearly, “Show, not tell.” The ML never says to the audience how he feels, but instead he SHOWS me through clear actions. So that’s a big plus in the romance for me. Also, I greatly admire the FL. Such resilience and determination in her beliefs, to go above and beyond for the mother who raised her. To defy the patriarchy and her family, takes a great deal of perseverance, which is where I feel some of the audience dislike her because they are used to a FL who is basically a “Mary Sue” that can do no wrong. But she feels very real to me. Not perfect, with much flaws but that’s what I like about her. She acts her age, she’s smart when she needs to be and makes mistakes because that is what you are supposed to do when you are young. So far I am enjoying the progression of the romance, the buildup is genuine and you can pinpoint where both character felt what. I’m loving the crime plots as well, it gives me a bit of “Imperial Coroner” vibe which is a huge plus for me. Continue on, little drama, keep shining.
I am actually kinda hoping the ML doesn’t find out that the FL was the little girl until much later. I would like to see him fall for her on his own accord rather than just finding out she’s the little girl from the past. I like the flow so far. Good chemistry, witty banter dialogue, meet your match kinda thing. Tit for tat.
Did anyone feel that we didn't get much scenes of FangShi in the last two episodes??? I was like when are they…
I honestly think Ti Lan and Emperor love story had a lot more angst and I guess a more sexy setup which I feel like why people gravitated more towards them.Which is ironic considering what little interaction they had in the book. I also think they made the male lead too passive in the beginning.
My god Ti Lan and Emperor’s love story just has so much complexities and details. Im so much more invested in them as a couple than the main lead. They had such a memorable ending I cried.

I saw the yang mi interview about the candy emoji. I don’t know if she meant that is a happy ending or if it’s just sweet moments that the characters will have. Idk honestly I feel like none of the couples will get a happy ending but we will see.

I don’t think Ti Lan and Emperor will survive, there was a shot in the trailer that showed the emperor’s face with blood that hasn’t been broadcast yet which is most likely his death. And bts of Haishi in empress clothing with a young child. So I think Ti Lan also died after childbirth.
I don't get how Haishi can become empress if the child is not hers? Never heard anything like it before and doesn't…
Really? In recorded history that has happened. If the king dies and the mother of child also dies, then the consort takes on the role of the “adopted” mother and becomes Empress Dowager right?
Rumor is Tilan dies giving birth to a still born baby
Omg that would be awful and downright cruel. But I can’t imagine Haishi inheriting the throne with the kid as future king with no royal blood in him if that child is actually Shifu and Haisji child.
Anybody found the boy talk between DX and FJM adorable in ep 34? Haha, despite the craziness, we get to see a…
Yeah it was the first time I’ve seen that they felt like actual friends and not just king and guard. It hadn’t felt like that every since back then when Zizan was alive.
I have a question. Why was Haishi punished at the hot spring in Ep 31? I feel like I missed something...
The Emperor was jealous of Haishi believing her to be a man. In the previous episodes the emperor believed Ti Lan and Haishi liked each other or something like that and he was jealous. He didn’t want her peeking at Ti Lan while she is in the hot spring so he made Haishi sit somewhere that was out of sight from the hot spring lol. Telling u this emperor is nuts haha
