i want to try this drama despite many negative review about it...but l'm still in hesitation mode .. Should I…
If you want to watch it just watch it - I mean if you dont like what you are seeing you can always stop watching it. Dont let what other people say influence you too much. I mean everyone likes different things so who knows you might enjoy it ^^
My kind of feel-good story. I like the female lead in here a lot, the male lead as well though I do think the possessive behavior of both parties (esp. Male lead at the beginning) was a bit annoying. But overall the relationship of them was so nice to watch because they were both very understanding, talked things out and did a lot together. The relationship felt so natural.
Probably because LMH is a much bigger star compared to KGE. Most articles consider KTEM a LMH drama. Plus he has…
Well back then that one drama called Boys over Flowers was really popular as hell. I am not even sure why but yeah, I think this was how everything started for him. He is very attractive but imo very overrated as an actor. He isnt bad, but pretty much every role I see him as so far wasnt very interesting. He also does not seem very versatile with the roles he plays. So I do believe a large portion of his popularity is indeed due to his looks
Still miss them like crazy. I want a season 2, or just more of Saint and Zee (even in another story) :( Their chemistry is so real that it made me feel like they might be dating for real >w<
In my opinion the problem is the script/dialogues, im a sucker for romance and I expected much more for this one…
I agree with this. I have seen criticsm towards LMH's/KGE's acting but to me pretty much every actor in this drama is top notch, its just that the script/dialogues and the characters themselves are so butchered that even with their great acting they can't do anything about it
In some of my previous comments I kept on trying to come up with theories, but in the end I realized the writer doesnt care at all about giving answers and writing the drama in a way that makes it understandable and followable without having to rewatch episodes and scenes for the nth time - and even then there are so many plot holes and inconsistensies it actually makes me angry.
Lets take the latest episodes as an example: Compare how the characters act now to how they did in ep 1. Do you call this in any shape or form character progression? I would say it is character derailment, if anything.
I initially started watching this drama and was happy because it seemed like Tae Eul is a capable inspector - instead she does a 180 and follows the King like some abandoned puppy and cries in pretty much every single episode. Also, she became a damsel in distress AND she literally, as an INSPECTOR, followed a criminal (Luna) ALONE as if it's nothing. Yeah, just no, this drama is beyond saving.
The problem is pretty much all time travel movies dont make sense if you use our current scientific knowledge, this show is no exception but I dont get why people are so super critical when there are so many other time travel stories that are not that good either. Our current knowledge (as far as I know, I am not an expert in this field) indicates that wormholes on a microscopic level may be possible. These wormholes ( = a tunnel connecting spatially separated regions of space-time) then would serve as the time machine. The problem would be obtaining/creating such a wormhole. So probably in this story the flute is used to create said wormholes, making time-travel and adjusting either the size of wormholes or humans possible. So the sci-fi aspect of this show is the flute, which is pretty much like god at this point.
Oh and to add to that: wormholes pretty much dont exist in our current universe, which makes the parallel universe thing so interesting. In another universe, maybe it would be possible to create negative mass to stabilize a wormhole (because they are unstable). Well, I will stop here. This show is not good for my brain lol
Also, I dont believe the Alice in Wonderland references are just randomly chosen. They place a significance in the story. Remember, Tae Eul literally said "I am Alice in Wonderland right now"). So Alice is Tae Eul and the Red King is well.. Yi Gon.. Maybe this series will end like Alice in Wonderland does. Oh and the queen might be the prime minister (?:D) .. and didn't Alice checkmate the King in the story? At the end Alice wonders if everything was her or his dream.. hmm
He's dreaming now,' said Tweedledee: `and what do you think he's dreaming about?'
Alice said `Nobody can guess that.'
`Why, about YOU!' Tweedledee exclaimed, clapping his hands triumphantly. `And if he left off dreaming about you, where do you suppose you'd be?'
`Where I am now, of course,' said Alice.
`Not you!' Tweedledee retorted contemptuously. `You'd be nowhere. Why, you're only a sort of thing in his dream!'
`If that there King was to wake,' added Tweedledum, `you'd go out--bang!--just like a candle!'
`I shouldn't!' Alice exclaimed indignantly. `Besides, if I'M only a sort of thing in his dream, what are YOU, I should like to know?'
`Ditto' said Tweedledum.
`Ditto, ditto' cried Tweedledee.
He shouted this so loud that Alice couldn't help saying, `Hush! You'll be waking him, I'm afraid, if you make so much noise.'
`Well, it no use YOUR talking about waking him,' said Tweedledum, `when you're only one of the things in his dream. You know very well you're not real.'
`I AM real!' said Alice and began to cry.
Maybe this is KES imaginary continuational story of Alice and the Red King :o)
I feel, if this drama ends, and the Monarchy in Corea isn't abolished, i'm going to be disappointed. There is…
I believe and hope LG will die. He will succeed in meeting Tae Eul again, or maybe even his "mission" if you want to call it but I believe he will still end up losing his live and someone else (maybe PM or even Luna?) will succeed. Lets be honest LG character is not the most likeable one. In fact I think the majority dislike him (?) and for all the right reasons. He grew up pretty much as believing he is superior to other peoples lives (again, think back on the bookstore scene, but there was also that other scene where he ordered to kill someone, if I remember correctly), contrary imo to PM who rose from literally nothingness. I just hope they dont make her a 0815 villain. That would suck so much and it seems to be headed that way, sadly.
To be frank, the show is not as deep as people think, But this is what you get when you place literature students,…
I disagree. I think it is super fun to come up with theories and discuss different viewpoints. Sure, it might be over-analyzing and reading too much into something very simple, but honestly, isnt this kind of what the writer intended the audience to do?
I am not trying to proof this show is good, not at all. You clearly missed the point I was trying to make. This is why I also said the show is not that good at explaining itself, it fails to give enough explanations so far. Time traveling has been done many times before already, it is not like this is a completely new idea. The problem is the rules of the time traveling/logic behind it needs to be explained properly and so far there are some answers, but still not enough.
Goddamn my head hurts so much from reading thr soompi forums of TKEM. There are so many things I missed and some interesting viewpoints. Pretty unpopular opinion but this show isnt that bad, its just so far not that good at explaining itself...
Something really interesting I found there:

So you got three different philosophical views of what time is :
1) Presentatism:
View that only the present is real, the past and future aren't real Ex: Its our everyday way of thinking of the world We see the present moment as real, the past is but a memory, and the future is a prediction
2) Possiblism:
Mixture of presentism and eternalism View that events which occur in the past or present exist, but those in the future are not real
3) Eternalism:
There is no distinction between past, present, and future, all are equally real
So if you look at the way the show started, which is the "present" (ep1 interrogation scene) and then we go back to the "past" where a bunch of things happen. From there we as the viewers try to make all kinds theories/predictions to fill in the gaps of events that lead to from our view of the "future". just shows how much we as the viewers are a byproduct of this very same presentist view. Then we debate whether if there's going to be multiple timelines or just one timeline that's going to be "real". This presentist view is what also leads us the viewers to debate whether or not there's just one timeline or multiple timelines or multiple worlds etc and which one of them is going to be the "real" one.
Thats why I was trying to caution everyone to think of how each character in the story views time. For example, in ep10, JTE sees LG and she perceives him as "future" LG with her presentist view. How then would that LG see her? Would he see her with presentist, possiblist, or eternalist view? Additionally, it brings up, how do we see that LG?
There are multiple observers in TKEM from us the viewers to each character. Every moment is relative. From our eyes, we may see certain events as in the past, present, or future while from the eyes of each character they may see it as their past and present.
And all of what is going on in the show should force us to then question, what is time? Time is what a clock measures and we live in a world where there are clocks everywhere. For us, its not only important that time passes, but exactly how much time has passed. We have become obsessed with time. From what time so and so happens in TKEM to what date it happens. So if we let go of the notion of time, we can see every moment as equally real. Again this is just a very short post, imagine if I had written my whole post lol.
Luna will die for sure, because she's sick.one of the LG will die also, because TE can't have 2 guys. Or can she?
Thats also my problem. Whatever happens to Luna does not even matter because she will end up dying either way. The only question is what happens to the rest of the characters.. I am kind of hoping for a really sad ending for this drama to be honest. Am I bad for saying I want everyone to die except for Eun Sub? lmao
also a scene that somehow was really powerful and sad and raised questions where the number of pictures inside "the gate" thing. how did the pictures end up there? Do they mean anything? (In any of the previous episodes, was there some dialogue revolving around taking pictures or someone having a camera or something ? I cant recall, aaaah) Also another scene was the multiplying red baloons again inside the gate. I want answers so badly for that ;___; cant wait
