Somehow... this drama feels disconnected to me. I'm not sure how to explain this, but I really think something is missing. Also, this whole episode (5) felt really pointless. The only scene that was really important imo was the one with the bad guy (Yi Rim is his name, I think?). And MAYBE that the emperor and the lieutenant decided to start dating (and sealed that "deal" with a kiss that pretty much came out of the blue, lol), though I'm not sure if that is even important. I'm a bit disappointed with this weeks episode..

But I do have one question... so in the parallel universe, jung tae eul's other self is called "Luna", right? Do you think she is alive? If I understood correctly, I assume she is alive (that would explain the scene wherein the emperor chased the bunny costume at the beginning)

I kind of agree, even though I like it. The beginning was so good of this drama - super funny, interesting, engaging dialogues... Sadly they couldn't keep that up for the rest of the series.

The majority of kdrama as well as asian drama have not so good writing. And western tv series are often draggy as hell just so that they can add more and more seasons. Good writing can mostly be found in books but thats just my opinion.

I guess I'll write this here again. If anyone is interested in the novel translation - it will be available in July in English. It is currently still being translated

I want to comment something about the "sudden love" aspect. Please keep in mind at this point I've only watched 3 episodes, will maybe comment again if I've seen the latest one:

I remember them saying at one point "I've been watching you.. for a long time". This is what the old grandma from the palace said to that one girl applying to work there (if you can recall this scene) - the emperor said something similar to the lieutenant, but they didn't really tell how exactly they are able "to watch" or "to overlook" other people yet, So from what I've gathered, the emperor already kind of knew the Lieutenant, even before they met in person. The same thing applies to the grandma and the girl. So for me, it was hinted that it wasn't THAT much of a coincidence and not THAT sudden. Did anyone else notice or think the same way? This is just a wild assumption, maybe I read too much into these scenes as well, I'm not sure.

I don't think the romance is developed at all at this point and we aren't not supposed to really get into it... yet. My opinion though. I think this drama is absolutely amazing so far and I'm not really watching/enjoying it for the romance aspect at all. Only thing that is a bit annoying is that there is SO MUCH product placement and advertisement in this drama. The actors are good at trying to make it subtle but if you pay attention it is very obvious...

I think she is an absolutely amazing actress and to me she is extremely pretty, I don't know what standards other people have but yeah..
I must admit that while I'm not a big fan of Lee Min Ho, I think this role fits him pretty well so far. Might be my favorite from the ones I've seen from him

..and I'm not refering to the first episode with the "consensual sex", but sex at a later time as well (if I remember correctly). The first episode is also nearly unbearable to watch, as in... it's kind of unsure if it was rape or not. I'd say it wasn't, they both were super drunk and neither of them planned anything AND it looked like they both wanted it (at least to me).

Yihwa was literally the best thing about this show and the reason why I finished it. Sorry, but I really don't like Knocks character. I also dislike that the girlfriend has to be the typically bad person. Why can't they for once write a plot and a drama with people that act more... human and normal?! Knock acts as if he got raped after they had consensual sex, he continues to be indecisive and two-times for too long. This is the shit I absolutely hate.

So around which episode is that? I'm also curious

Would you recommend me to watch this version or the ONA (https://myanimelist.net/anime/37208/Mo_Dao_Zu_Shi) OR even the novel? How are they different or the same, which one do you prefer and why? I have no clue how or where to start with this, but seems like it very popular and I'm so curious!

Yeah exactly. I also don't understand this closed-mindedness. I think so many drama can learn from this one, and I'm not just talking about BL ones, but in general. THIS is how you kiss and not just bumping into each other for a few seconds..
