If you meant the ML in Back from the Brink is the Dragon King Tian Yao, he's not an a-hole. If it's about that particular incident, there is a reason for him to do that. He just didn't tell her at that moment because the situation is urgent. It's a misunderstanding but it's resolved fast. That drama doesn't let issues between the main couple too long and they communicate well. It's highly recommended.
I noticed that main characters, no matter what gender they are, who are hurt by past lovers, either left (like in this drama) or betrayed (like in BFTB) are most likely guard their hearts against future love and shown as rude or cynical to the opposite characters. If you don't want to watch 'unlikable' MLs, you should check the synopsis or the tags for any hint.
