I think SK is the best portraying horror (I watched horror+romance or horror+comedy). Their costume/makeup/prop are the best.

Though I don't watch these but when I looked them up I wondered too about them being real horror dramas. Perhaps because they're Korean and Chinese dramas that not real horror but up there because of high ratings. I thought the scary horror are like what Japanese and Thai make.

I enjoy reading your explanation on the Basic Words. The Chinese cast is interesting. Vengo Gao as Sulṭān Süleymān, LOL! The Turkish actress who played as Hurrem Sultan is so pretty. You're right, the tropes/cliches actually don't bother me either. They only become noticeable since I have to find more-objective aspects to write in a CW article than "everything is great go watch it you won't be disappointed" message, lol.
