Saw the 1st four episodes sub but don't want to start it till at least it's completed.
Not at all. In WeTV the sub is until episode 18 if you watch free, but if you want to be their Vip member (gotta pay) the sub is right on track to episode 24., which is the same as the raw ones

Yeah the English version is up to Chapter 275, the Mandarin version is up to 291. Though the hard copy itself is published in 2016.

Mandarin is not my native language but I somewhat understand the daily conversation. But this drama and other Chinese historical dramas have poetic language and ancient sayings, it's harder to understand the details.

Basically Ming Yue becomes a target for political struggle. Regarding the end, I just checked the original manhua in Chinese, not even finished yet (chapter 291). Although the drama seems like loosely following the manhua story line, hopefully the ending is a crowd pleaser, aka happy ending. Despite of what the manhua writer wanted.
