No. That's a completely different story.

Person Zhang Chi
I just finished That Winter Solstice and loved his acting. It's the first time I've seen a series like that. Do…
He played a similar role as a disabled nobleman in the pretty decent micro-drama "The Fire-Making Maid Makes Trouble in the Marquis's Mansion" (烧火丫头闹侯府) (link is right below in the comments section). He was also really great in the mini-drama Hidden Love. He had insane chemistry with the FL there and quite a few steamy, passionate scenes.
Personally, I prefer him in costume dramas - he looks much hotter with long hair.

I agree with you but at the same time, it makes sense for both the FL and ML to be rather entitled.
I think you're overestimating the role of intelligence in acquiring and maintaining wealth. After all, there’s no shortage of rich idiots. Generally speaking, what people live off has a colossal impact on all their actions. I rewatched that scene where the FL talks to her dad. The company she runs belongs to the Castle Group, the chaebol owned by the heroine’s family. She tells her father that she can’t just stay as the director of some regular subsidiary. If she wants to strengthen the family legacy, she needs to become the main heir and take control of the entire fortune. So it’s not really her company at all. It’s her dad’s, and probably soon her brother’s if he makes him the primary heir.

Contrary to appearances, it is not that easy to lose an inherited fortune. The fates of ultra wealthy families have been tracked over the centuries, and the majority of them have retained their status and wealth despite the passage of time and geopolitical changes, and in many cases have even multiplied it. People often believe that most lottery winners eventually go bankrupt because they do not know how to manage a large fortune. That is not true. There are studies involving large numbers of people that have tracked their subsequent lives, and it turns out that they generally do very well. They preserve their wealth and often continue to work if they enjoyed their job. What is more, even among footballers and many other athletes from the best paid sports, and I do not deny that they are hardworking, where inevitably many stars are not the sharpest tools in the shed, you do not hear about mass bankruptcies or about them living in poverty after their careers end.
The old maxim still holds true: money makes money. When you have a high social status, you really have to make an effort to lose it. Climbing the social and financial ladder is much harder.
That is why in this story FL is incredibly privileged, even if she herself may not see it that way.

I agree with you but at the same time, it makes sense for both the FL and ML to be rather entitled.
She might have been able to achieve social mobility on her own, but in this drama her character is a girl from a wealthy family. Besides, the drama shows that the FL had a hard time at school and at work as the illegitimate daughter of a powerful father. If she were some poor girl of unknown background who got into such a prestigious school on a scholarship, she would probably have been treated even worse by the snobbish crowd and wouldn’t have had any chance of being in the prince’s social circle.
And isn’t her company part of the family conglomerate? It doesn’t seem like a business she built completely on her own. She’s only the executive director of one of the subsidiaries belonging to her father. So without her father, there is no company at all.

I did mention that she is hardworking and ambitious, so I wasn’t downplaying her efforts. Let’s not fool ourselves; that alone wouldn’t be enough to get her a managerial position in the family company. Do her talented subordinates have the same chance of becoming CEO as she does? Of course not. If I understand correctly, she wants to take over the family holding and become the main heir. If she truly wanted to break free from her father, as you said, she would start her own independent company. Maybe that’s what will happen at the end of the series. For now, she’s fighting to gain the status she believes she deserves within the family and to prove her superiority over her brother. It’s true that people from her social circle look down on her, just as she seems to look down on those below her on the social ladder, namely her employees. Only her assistant seems to receive any leniency from her. The “boss from hell” model, who terrifies subordinates and makes them work overtime, is still very much alive in K-dramas. Even when they try to give it a comedic tone, it doesn’t quite work here. Anyway, these observations about the FL and ML’s positions in their families are of secondary importance to me in their overall love story. As I wrote earlier, these two episodes were just average entertainment for me. That’s all.

the story is weak and poorly done although the setting is quite good and not much done in the past i can only…
Yes, the concept was interesting: the clash between the old order and contemporary realities. Unfortunately, the boring script and execution don't make it any easier for the actors to convince the audience to root for their characters.

That's true. With so much already given to them, they can afford to expect even more from life. However, when portraying such roles, actors have a difficult task: they need to keep the audience's sympathy on the side of their "entitled" characters despite everything.

The FL complains that her family background is hindering her from achieving her ambitious goals, even though everything she has is thanks to being the daughter of a wealthy man. She's ambitious and hardworking, but that's not enough to graduate from an elite university or become a director in a company that, as I understand, operates within the family conglomerate. The same goes for the ML, who leads a comfortable and luxurious life thanks to his noble background. If the drama is trying to convince us that family status here is a burden and a curse, then it really needs strong, charismatic acting performances to pull that off. In my opinion, both actors are decent at best. The series looks set to be pretty mediocre. Romantic comedy is, contrary to appearances, a difficult genre. The audience will forgive a lot within the romantic convention, but at the same time has a surprisingly low tolerance for a lack of charm and emotional truth, which is the foundation of any good love story. These two episodes felt a bit soulless.

Person Chen Si Spoiler
Okay...seeing another one floating around. Here our super awesome Chen Si plays a violent husband. Stephen King…
Maybe you're thinking of 陈斯 / 沉思? In English, the drama is called 'Don't Talk to Strangers' (also known as 'From Angel to Monster, He Broke Her Legs'): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1UlT_fSY5Ls

You can watch the first 4 episodes for free (and legally) with English subs here:

Mango should start uploading the drama to their official YouTube channel soon. It’s not available on other usual free streaming sites yet, but it’ll probably show up with subs somewhere soon.

Deng Kai playing another psychopath. At least he is good at it. 🤣
It seems like Deng Kai is actually the good guy here, while that missing husband is the shady one. Though ML’s obsession with FL is genuinely unsettling.

And I must say the puppet emperor knows how to act like a puppet emperor! Guy knows acting!!!! So glad with all…
He’s one of my favorite characters. Whenever he’s in a scene, he completely steals the viewer’s attention. His comedic timing is perfect, but there’s always this sad, tragic edge to it. He portrays so well someone who ended up in power completely by accident, by some twist of fate, and who is utterly unsuited for it. He’s a good-natured emperor, but cowardly.
