This show isn't as bad or messy as all the youtube comments imply. Like yeah, it isn't the most incredible perfect example of a well written bl with deep characters and fleshed out plot lines, but it is short, cute, dramatic, and cheesy: everything I want in an easy watch. The only very large or jarring moment of discontinuity was Em's flip flop from angry homophobe to not. If you watch this you probably won't fall head over heels for any of the characters or really be deeply invested in any of the situations they find themselves in, but if you are bored and want some boy x boy action in cheesy scenarios this is the show for you!
My only other thought is that I do kind of wish this had been a continuation of the first season rather than its completely own thing, because I definitely was more interested in the characters from s1 than these guys, but oh well.
I absolutely agree with the others who are saying that this story fell flat somewhere in the middle (for me, I can pretty clearly pinpoint it to the second Tine and Wat agree to move in together). Everything ep 10 and later was just paced awkwardly, the writing was awkward, it felt like some of the actors weren't giving their all, and in general the spark of flirtation and cheeky fun that made up the first 9 episode was absolutely gone. I ended up adoring Man and Type, and I am thrilled that while they made up and did get together, they didn't have some kind of over-the-top fairytale romantic ending where they kissed and immediately rushed to move in with each other and were given a bouquet of 100 condoms as a housewarming gift that was probably never used....
where can i find the link of season 2 with eng sub?
There is no season 2. The author originally wanted to make a season 2, and that is probably why season 1 ends so abruptly, but it seems like censorship has currently blocked the production of a season 2. They also filmed a bl cut of season 1, which has yet to be released as well, presumably blocked by the censors.
Ryan is chinese, he can't speak thai so they must dubbed him
I have never seen a show do that before..... Why would they use an actor who doesn't speak Thai? They could have at least given him a plot line like he was an exchange student who didn't speak much Thai or something. I think it would have been better if we heard him speak Mandarin, and they turned it into some kind of running gag.
Is Mek's audio strange on purpose? I feel like his mouth never aligns with what is being said. Is this some kind of continuation of the "he's mute, you'll probably never actually hear him speak" joke from the first episode?
BL fans: There is no need to watch Kiss if you just want to see PeteKao. They are just side/background characters here, and never have a scene alone together (except for “Beside the Scene” ep 12, 14, 15). The most you will see between them are arms frequently thrown around shoulders, and there are several innuendo-laced conversations that imply that Pete and Kao are sleeping together, but there is no explicit bl: no confession scenes, no holding hands, no kissing, no romantic talk, etc. Skip to Kiss Me Again if you want to see PeteKao (which yes, there are cuts of on youtube).
Note—> The one exception is a portion of episode 14, where Thada and June find out from Sandee that Pete and Kao are dating. There is a brief flashback of her finding out about them during their freshman year, and then a brief conversation amongst the friends about acceptance. However, this scene does not seem to align with Dark Blue Kiss, where Thada and June don’t clearly know that Pete and Kao are dating, so, still, if you just want to watch DBK there is no need to watch this scene.
This was a pretty depressing watch, and made me very blue and introspective, but I loved every minute of it. There is just something about how multifaceted each character is, how every one of them is constantly growing and changing, and how they struggle to decide whether stay or go in each other's lives that kept me hooked. It feels very realistic, like a gay film rather than a bl: you won't find any slapstick comedy, annoying sound effects, or ridiculously cheesy bl tropes here. I highly recommend this show.
I can not wait! I'm so happy Korea is finally getting in on the bl business haha. (And no, they haven't had an…
They absolutely have had bls before. Long Time No See, Method, In Between Seasons, The Lover, The Boy Next Door. Others like The King and the Clown or A Frozen Flower. I mean, there aren't a TON of bls, but there are some.
Even though this show was made second, Mood Indigo is chronologically a prequel that shows Kijima's life before…
Kijima has different sexual partners in Mood Indigo and Pornographer. Most folks who watch these don't really consider any of them to be dating or romantically involved with each other, just sexually involved. But some people do think they have romantic feelings (especially Kuzumi). It is up to the viewer's interpretation I suppose.
There is a scene at the end of Mood Indigo that is kind of like a sequel scene that clears up the open ending of Pornographer (that is another reason why most people watch Pornographer first, so the ending isn't spoiled by watching this one first). So, I guess you could say Mood Indigo is like 99% prequel to Pornographer, 1% sequel.
Can someone explain what is the relationship between this drama and Pornographer? Is this a prequel with the same…
Even though this show was made second, Mood Indigo is chronologically a prequel that shows Kijima's life before the events of Pornographer. Some reviewers still suggest watching Pornographer first though, because if you watch Mood Indigo after Pornographer you will better understand why Kijima acts the way he does.
I rarely dislike shows, and I don't often get worked up over them, but I truly got so frustrated watching this. Because of how different most of the characters are compared to the first season (especially Emma) I found myself most of the time preferring them with their respective love rivals. You see pretty much none of the friendly bickering that made s1 so fun, and Pick and Rome's relationship is pretty toxic. Pick is really awful to Rome, and I absolutely don't think he had a big enough redemption arc at the end to make me feel like he wasn't all that terrible. Yes, they did have some cute moments, but so many more awful ones. If anyone treated me like Pick treats Rome I would drop his ass in a second. All in all I found this a very frustrating watch, especially when directly compared to how sweet and fun the first season was.
I loved this show so much more than I thought I would! I usually never watch bl's that aren't allowed to show kisses or anything like that, but I took a chance on this one and am so glad I did. True, the first few episodes and the last few are a little all over the place, but the central bulk of the show is phenomenal. Xia Yao and Yuan Zhong are very clearly shown to love each other, and you do get an "I love you" and "I want to spend the rest of my days with you" from them in the final episode. I also personally didn't care too much for the side "couples," but both side couples do have unique and interesting dynamics (I just think neither couple got enough screentime for me to really be invested in their storylines).
I really wish Obsessed was longer, and showed more of Yi Chen’s story after he agrees to date Jin Teng the second time around. I think it would have been a very interesting and dark-ish drama that was partially focused on the current relationship but was interspersed with flashbacks from their first time around. What really hit me in the 4th episode of Obsessed was how clearly you could see that Yi Chen was struggling with the decision on whether or not to give in to Jin Teng. Because he wasn’t just struggling against the Jin Teng of that moment, he was struggling with the fact that he knew that if he gave in he would be choosing to reenter into a relationship that he knew was toxic (if the second time around was like the first). I like to be tentatively hopeful that the second time through Jin Teng would be different and (in my theoretical fantasized longer drama) be shown to change his mannerisms in direct comparison to what he was like in the first time. I think the obsession part comes into play primarily with Yi Chen towards Jin Teng, because even though Jin Teng is the one that kind of obviously falls into that category, it is really Yi Chen that has some kind of dangerous addiction to Jin Teng that makes it near impossible for him to leave even though he rationally knows he should. I really don’t like Obsessed, it really wasn’t all that well made, but I can’t deny that the basic plot has my mind very grotesquely fascinated by all the what ifs.
Ok, so, I wasn’t thrilled they killed Xi Gu. I would have preferred if they didn’t kill him, because there was something quiet and mundane and enjoyable about his and Hao Ting's relationship and I feel like I could have enjoyably watched several seasons of them just growing up. But, they did kill him, so how do I feel about that final episode? It wasn’t as weird or non-sequitur as some reviewers made it out to be: it was well done (well acted, and major props to the makeup and wardrobe departments who really made each character look older). The Xi Gu-doppelgänger was really weird, and I feel like even the actor looked uncomfortable playing him: this was one aspect of the final episode that definitely didn’t need to be there. There was also a weird vibe in the air like something for Hao Ting was coming to an end, and I could never quite tell if Hao Ting was finally going to move on from Xi Gu or if he was going to kill himself to be closer to Xi Gu. I did like the little glimpse in on Sun Bo and Zhi Gang. Several times while watching the final episode I found myself wishing that this final episode was actually the first episode of a drama about a man trying to get over a lost love. It held a lot of potential for storylines (I can imagine flashbacks of them falling in love, flashbacks of how he dealt immediately after the death, how he goes through life now, how he meets other people, maybe you could keep the tragic tone and do have Hao Ting kill himself in the end because he can’t get over Xi Gu. Also, I want Zhi Gang’s plot line about reconnecting with his family! It is so unusual to have older bl characters, I want to see how a 40-ish man —vs the usual bl teen— goes about mending bridges.) I just feel like because the last episode takes place six years after Xi Gu’s death there is so much plot that opens up that instead of feeling like a satisfying ending to MODC it felt like it was introducing tons of new opportunities for story lines. Overall, I really feel like the first 9/18 episodes of this show belong to a wholly other drama, and the last episode is some completely other story.
I don't know whether to laugh or cry.... I was halfway through ep 7 of this when I got up to have my lunch, and when I came back the youtube channel that I was watching from was deleted for copyright issues. ಠ_ಠ ..... onward to the next hosting site!
WuXian's song is so beautiful and sad. I love how it captures that kind of melancholic deep, aching, confusion and sadness surrounding who he still is. Is he the person in the stories people say about him? Is he the person he once was? The only thing that is reliable, that is concrete in his abstract confusion is Lan Zhan.
Disregarding frustrating characters and plot lines, I totally understand why this show is frequently so highly praised. It is one of the prettiest, most beautifully shot bl's I have seen ever, with the lighting, wardrobe choices, and sets all so gorgeous. In the first episode alone I was blown away by how lighting was used (like the darkness and neon lights in Third's room at the end of the episode, or the wall of flashing screens at the movie theater). It really set a great precedent for the rest of the show.
My only other thought is that I do kind of wish this had been a continuation of the first season rather than its completely own thing, because I definitely was more interested in the characters from s1 than these guys, but oh well.

TIPS FOR WATCHING: Do not watch from CN Drama on Youtube!!! They cut out a ton of scenes and sometimes blatantly do not translate suggestive lines. If you want to find it on Youtube, watch it from 中剧经典 (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLjjPL6UFQG6pWfJ8UoREcRPcdXPz-RC8h), or go to Dramacool for my preferred subs from Kiyoshi Ryota (https://www2.dramacool.movie/drama-detail/advance-bravely).
Also, guys, just completely disregard the animated segment at the end.
