Ziqi's love for Mu Yao is more out of loyalty and sense of family. It wasn't romantic, but he didn't know that because basically he didn't know what "being in love" is. He had nothing in life as a reference. He realizes it later on when he does things and reacts to Ling Miao Miao that he wouldn't with Mu Yao. But of course they might change it all up for the drama adaptation. I don't know anything about this drama's director so I don't know what to expect.

I know, coz after hearing the rumor I looked for the season 2 drama page and it's nowhere to be found here. I think at this point I'm still hoping, since a rumor is better than nothing.
