While I understand where you are coming from, I'm not so sure boycotting a live-action adaptation would have any…
Firstly, thank you for your polite response. I absolutely understand the point you are making. Here, I was not arguing for people to boycott the series. That's everyone's own call to make. To many viewers, these things do matter. It was simply a matter of informing viewers and then leaving them to make the choice they are comfortable with. But even that got a strong reaction in defense of the author. I suppose I should not be too surprised. We see more people fighting for celebs and the rich than people who actually need society's concern. I've done my own share of idolizing. :)
As for calls for boycott, they do make a difference at times to at least some degree as other production companies avoid working with such authors/artists in future. Eventually they lose out on money (from foreign investments at least) because the enough of the public decides they will not watch such content even if made. But even if it doesn't make an impact, it is the right thing to do. That's why I try to speak up. I'm also aware it's not easy for everyone to speak up nor for everyone to be aware of every issue that requires a voice. Laws differ in different parts of the world but where people can, they should try to be the voice of the weak. For example, you may not be able to speak up for people in your country but you can still speak up for people suffering in another whose government cannot restrict you. At least that is my personal take on it.
Do have a great day too! And if you wish we can speak privately on this further instead of the comments section.
That's so funny because Obama is a HUGE fan of the author, has spoken gushingly of his works on interviews and…
Speaking of Youtube, I recall some Youtubers who went missing after highlighting what was happening in Wuhan. Obama, whether informed or not, does not necessarily care about human rights as opposed to what is beneficial politically. So I do not wait for Obama or other leaders to call out what is clearly wrong. That is why human rights groups and people of conscience exist. To do what leaders often fail at.
I’m pretty sure at this point that SHR is very close to the psychopath end of spectrum. I find it interesting…
Is it that or does he merely believe he is better than most people and that's why he doesn't engage with them? Although, now that you mention it, he does seem to lack empathy.
Myung se is the reason he doesn't have his job now !!!! Remember please. Also he always worked with Psycho brains…
Not really though. Firstly, it was his own actions that let to that. Secondly, Myung Se didn't intentionally wish harm on him. Whereas, Ha Roo even got Myung Se's head shaved and never apologised. Myung Se is still so nice to him. Being a neurologist, he should be above pettiness.
Can anyone tell me if this is worth the watch. I watched the first episode and honestly had a hard time following…
TBH, if you skip it, you won't be missing much (as of the 8th episode). The investigation aspect could be better. Some of the cases are interesting but the comedy feels like a filler. At first, I didn't care for their "bromance" but it's gotten a bit better. Although, I still don't care for the neurologist character. If you are mainly looking for a light-hearted show, then Brain Works is good in that aspect. As others said, how you feel about this show is pretty subjective. This is just my perspective.
The bickering is growing on me but the 8th episode was pretty unimpressive overall. It's taken me 2 days to try and watch it and I still haven't completed it. They should have just cut down on some episodes then it would be perfect.
Also, Shin Ha Roo's actions were so cruel! That's almost villainous. I'm still annoyed with him. Geum Myung Se did not deserve that!
Is it all's fair in love and war? Is it plain jealousy?
Yeah, I don't even want to refer to him as the SML as his actions are so hypocritical. He's nice to Eun Woo but he doesn't care that she's not interested.
In the olden days perhaps. Then again we have returned to backward thinking in current times as well.
Indeed. Globalization and exchange of ideas also helps bring about change. I've heard that the newer generation is starting to challenge old mindsets. Hope modern dramas also explore the idea of widows remarrying. Haven't seen this as much as divorced leads. I also wonder if the FL was not a virginal widow, would people's perception towards her be different.
