BUT it takes a long time to build the back story, we dont see the grown Minglan until episode 4/5 (What a cracking actress the young Minglan is) around episode 20 all the early episodes begin to make sense, then by episode 33 its 'What did Minglan just do'!

Gu is Great! if Minglan had Married Qi she would have been destroyed by Princess Pingning. Qi didn't have the bottle to stand up to his mother wheras Gu protected Minglan from his mother in law and even advised her how to resist her schemes.

A rewatch is like finding a hidden door and walking into a secret room. Many scenes in early episodes felt like fillers but suddenly come to life and gives new insight into how much Minglan sees which others don't.

Gu is great! once he gets his act together, he is outstanding.

Not so much a triangle, its a slice of life, both leads are intrested/involved with other people but know each other from childhood. it seems to be a relationship that would never work but when they get together they are perfectly matched

its encompasses the whole at of the drama. She is a 'Fly by the seat of your pants' pilot whilst he is rule bound because he wants to eliminate every risk for a reason. What she doesn't realise is that he is her biggest supporter and he wants her to be an exceptional pilot and become a trailblazer.

Absolutly worth it. There are a lot of twists and turns and the mother in law from hell, but given your concerns, you will like the ending.

Oh and the best Maid in cdrama in my opinion.

He plays the villain in The Longest day in Chang'An which is excellent.

This is a battle between the old aristocracy and the supporters of the new emperor who has not really got control of the court because of the dowager empress who is a leading member of the old aristocracy. Justice has nothing to do with this power play, it's about manipulating the system to knock down the major players of your opponent. Aunt Kang's family are just bit players in a bigger game.

About episode 40, Minglan has a couple of people she likes but once Gu sets his mind that he wants her as his wife he stops at nothing.

Minglan is keeping her powder dry, nothing is missed by her and she can read her family like a book. She only reveals her hidden side in episode 33 and it's WOW!
