The Atraction is already there from ML but FL is only there for 3 months so he is respectful of that. FL is there to heal and is in no place initially to form a relationship. He gives her the space she needs whilst she works out what she wants but he thinks she has come out of a broken relationship. She doesn't revel her friends death until about episode 30. it is not a smooth path but it is a happy ending.

the first episode is there to set up the healing, its like a warm blanket after that first episode.

The father is worse than useless he is only concerned with face and his reputation which causes most of the chaos in the Manor. Minglans mothers death, there is alot to be revealed about this but her father is not responsible.

Apparently she was raised in a family of scholars who fell on hard times and was given as a concubine as part payment of a debt. Really sad life she lead but made sure Minglan was protected by the only person in the Manor she knew could be trusted. Her death has massive implications later on in the drama.

NGCS is one of my favorite dramas, yes Sun Li's character has 4 men intrested in her but none of them help her in her buisiness, she learns it by being a street busker and then cleaning up near to the buisiness academy and listening to the lessons before eventually showing she has more buisiness acumen than anyone else.

i am only on Episode 7 and i am getting a suspicion that it is a re run of Nothing Gold Can Stay.

it literally caused a tourist boom in Dali and Erhai lake. Shaxi town is where most of the Drama is shot and you can visit the Cafe and homestead if you can beat the crowds!

Princess Pingning beat Qi's manseravant to death because he knew that Qi and Minglan had met in secret. Princess Pingning was far more powerful than Gu's stepmother. Qi would never have been able to protect Minglan from his mother the way Gu did from his stepmother, and Qi ended up with a good marriage with someone who was just as smart as Minglan.

Whilst handsome Duke Qi was looking for fire buckets, ugly Gu was running Aunt Kang through with his sword to save Minglan and their new born.

irs in the top 5 historical cdramas ever made, many would argue that it is the best. BUT it takes a long time to build the back story, we dont see the grown Minglan until episode 4/5 (What a cracking actress the young Minglan is) around episode 20 all the early episodes begin to make sense, then by episode 33 its 'What did Minglan just do'!

The General in 'The Rebel Princess' and he actually looks like he has spent a decade onthe battlefield.

Gu is Great! if Minglan had Married Qi she would have been destroyed by Princess Pingning. Qi didn't have the bottle to stand up to his mother wheras Gu protected Minglan from his mother in law and even advised her how to resist her schemes.

A rewatch is like finding a hidden door and walking into a secret room. Many scenes in early episodes felt like fillers but suddenly come to life and gives new insight into how much Minglan sees which others don't.

Gu is great! once he gets his act together, he is outstanding.

Not so much a triangle, its a slice of life, both leads are intrested/involved with other people but know each other from childhood. it seems to be a relationship that would never work but when they get together they are perfectly matched
