I am at episode 25 and her character has revealed hidden and surprising depths. Her hard nosed money centred persona is hiding the reality of a soft hearted loyal friend who will face adversity head on for her friends. I have watched Ideal City and I think so far Sun Li is as good in this, but I still say 'Nothing Gold Can Stay' is her stand out performance.

Ling is plain nasty, you can see how she manipulates and plays off her team against each other. Manli stitched her up good time, she thought she was having a meeting where Manli was going to surrender to her, but instead Manli hinted that she knew she was in a relationship with a man from blue ocean and then dropped the grenade about the pretty new assistant. Surgical precision.

I have been away for a few days si I am a bit behind. ex is still about due to his mother and the hospital but he is not aware of the new man

he was used as much as ManLi was, at first she is antagonistic to him but then finds he has left the job because of how he ws used and she needs somone in the industry to help her.

no romance between the main leads but he does move into her flat when he becomes homeless and helps her son in his studies. I suspect the professors assistant who is made to look dowdy but isn't will come into it

She broke up because she wanted him to be more of a go getter, which he wasn't. They are a team of equals, Man Li needs him because she is no longer able to sell but has all the experience he doesn't, whilst he is struggling and being ridiculed in his team.

She does start to reveal what's behind her tough exterior later on which is the complete opposite to the persona she shows to the world.

She is famous for her role in 'Empresses in the Palace' which is one of the top rated harem dramas and one of the most watched TV dramas ever, but I think her role in 'Nothing Gold can Stay' is her stand out performance.

Sun Li plays pretty much the same chracter in 'The Ideal City', it's pretty much the same story, a woman looses her job and partner and having to start over again.

So far so good, Sun Li seems to be reprising her chracter in "The Ideal City" without the glam. The only issues I have is the focus on the glamorous lifestyle of the rich and famous and Man Li's attempt at seducing her husband which were cringworthy. I was also surprised to discover that the woman who stole her husband was Sun Li's rival in "Nothing Gold can Stay"!I can't wait to see Man Li discover the MLs background and how he cares for his mother.

They are the perfect match. they have both had mother's die when they are young and been brought up in toxic households. Gu has been a bit of a Rebel, whereas Minglan has survived by not being noticed. Gu understands her better than anyone and is the only one who notices her hidden talents. once Minglan finally let's her guard down she becomes devoted to him but Gu fell first and harder.

it about the mid to late 40 episodes. Minglan looks certain to marry Duke Qi but powerful forces torpedo that and only then does Gu decide he wants her as his wife but he doesn't persue her, he manouveres her into a position where marrying him is her best option, much to her annoyance. Qi is bitter for a while but ends up in a happy marriage himself.

Just completed this. its not going to tax your brain and is totally unrealistic but is great fun to watch. has more female leads than you can shake a stick at and the males are in a constant state of bewilderment as the women outsmart them at every turn. it does deal with some darker issues but it is done with a light touch. just turn your critical thinking skills of and enjoy this silly, stupid wonderful drama.

Her depiction of the young Minglan was overlooked, she did a fantastic job.

Yes, once she is married and is able to be her real self she is able to follow her principles but no longer has to keep her talents hidden.
