Not Yuri being the literal worst ugh. I hope there’s a season 3 where Nanno takes care of her and whatever minions she has, because she really doesn’t deserve any powers.
I for one don't want dramas to check diversity boxes and look like American dramas. The reason why I escape to…
I couldn't have said it better myself. There's no 'agenda' at play, and this one Netflix drama doesn't indicate any of their future Korean projects. Yes they're using their money to tell a story that's different than usual, but that doesn't make it any less Korean.
He's a man of service, a caretaker, he studies medicine because he's genuinely into healing people. It's his thing,…
I agree he's not a complete blank slate because of all the things you said, but even then, apart from the DDR and germaphobe thing, all of those traits are just baseline stuff that could either be attributed to anyone or directly relate to Pi. What I really want to know is what he likes doing beyond taking care of his friends and what makes him angry etc so he becomes more of a complex character. But maybe right now he seems basic because we've only seen parts of him in relation to Pi, and now that they're progressing we'll see his personality.
This series gives me Tharntype S1 and Together With Me vibes in the way it's filmed. Like it isn't overedited with bright filters that make the actors really glossy; it looks natural, which is refreshing against some of the recent bl's imo.
This was surprisingly really good. Although the first few episodes felt a bit rushed, it got so much better towards the end. And I think amongst other recent BL's, imo this really stands out. Not only are the aesthetics unmatched, but it all felt very honest and real. Also, the final scene paralleling the first was so soft and moving. Definitely worth watching
I swear I spent the whole episode focusing on the CEO's gloves and then he took them off and I started focusing on the fact that he took them off. Like why he was even wearing them in the first place then lol
Do I feel silly for patiently waiting for Hao Ting and Xi Gu to show up? Yes. Am I still waiting? .... *sighs* Yes.
Anyways it would be a lie to say I didn't like this series. Although it's different from the other HIStory installations and had its obvious controversies, it was still really interesting to watch. Most of the characters were unpredictable, and the actors did an amazing job at becoming them. The fujoshi storyline wasn't nearly as bad as other ones I've seen, and the brothers are admittedly cute besides everything. If they had been written a little differently, I would've had no problem supporting them, but either way, they got better towards the end. LC and MR are still the best imo, though they're unbelievably cheesy. Their scene where LC angrily kissed MR and then did it again softer was just so sweet. Also unrelated but if Tang Yi's still in jail, I hope the VP ends up in the same one as him, so he can teach him a lesson.
Overall, I think this series isn't for everyone. If you're more into fluffy somewhat simple gmmtv style BL's then this might not be for you, but I don't think the comments should discourage anyone from watching it. Although I had my problems, I did enjoy the (civil) discourses that came from each episode. When a comment section is this lively you know it provoked people to think and that's never a bad thing. I'm looking forward to the next HIStory installation.
He didn't drug him, he got him drunk. The evil VP drugged Mu Ren - that's totally different. A 30-year old man…
I do understand more what you mean. It is true that XS drank of his own accord and should be held accountable for that, but I still don’t agree that he knew what was coming. Nor do I agree that in his half conscious state his ‘consent’ should’ve been taken as such. I never called YJ a rapist though. The reason I used sexual assault is because there actually have been cases about this, that's how they're labelled, and I don’t want to dismiss the validity of those victims feelings.
And I’m not ‘ignoring things because they don’t fit my agenda’, I actually didn’t remember much of the actual beach scene. But again a ‘mutual sexual attraction’ and any prior actions does not mean XS knew what was going to happen, nor that if he consented to those prior actions that the same went for whatever ensued next.
Also by brushing it off I didn’t mean the previous episodes. I thought they did an okay job at addressing that what YJ did was wrong. What I meant was at the end it was brushed off with XS’s ‘I was upset you didn’t want to be my brother’. What I and a lot of others read was that he was saying that what YJ did didn’t really matter, it was what he said that had made him upset. Which was just a weird message to give.
And I definitely am not calling the people who don’t see it as rape the romanticisers. I was talking about the people I’ve seen who have said what YJ did was okay because he just ‘loved XS too much’ or because it was ‘for the greater good’ in terms of the father video thing. Also the actual people who said even if XS had said no, YJ was just infatuated.
And finally, the ‘some of you’ that you’re talking about doesn’t include me. I don’t think a bad start categorically excludes a good ending, nor do I despise complex characters. And even though I don’t like the way most of their relationship was written, I still accept that if XS’s happy then that’s what matters. Even if I have my qualms, I’m not saying the show has to change. I don’t know how it’s entitled to want to question certain things though. I normally leave the brothers out of my comments, and I don't call the people who support their relationship rape apologists or anything. I simply want to know why some people think a different way about the situation than I do.

Of course sex isn't black and white, and if it happened to you and you're okay with it then that's cool. But everyone's different and for me, regardless of any hidden feelings or whatever; if I was about to do something that I (really) wouldn't do sober (because this isn't just a random drunk hook-up, it literally affects the fabric of their household), then I would want the other person to respect that and not take advantage. Even if I initiated it, for a decision so important, I think it should have "clean-cut" consent. XS wasn't in the headspace to make the choice to change his relationship with his brother; YJ had planned for and calculated this - he put him in a situation where his inhibitions would be lowered (XS thought it was a normal brotherly weekend, where it would be okay to relax and drink with his brother) and used it to get what he wanted. At the very least I don't understand how this makes for an acceptable romance, and the fact that the show eventually brushed it off and people romanticise it is not okay.

I agree that it's not nearly the same as the VP, but don't you think especially because YJ knew that was the last thing XS would do sober, that it was sort of sexual assault? If it isn't something XS would consent to in his right mind, then it's not excusable just because he was drunk. YJ who was sober knew this and still took advantage of him
HIStory5 has already been confirmed to air later this year so I think they'll be closing the MODC arc story here…
Please that's so true, with BL's you never know what could happen, the plot possibilities are endless. I wouldn't mind if they pulled a He's Coming To Me though, but I'd prefer XiGu alive.
I thought maybe he was a germaphobe at first but now I'm just confused
