This drama was very enjoyable to watch. The chemistry between the main leads and even with the supporting actors…
Agreed. I definitely thought it started to drag near the end. Unfortunately I always multi-task while watching Kdramas. The last part was dragging so much that all I remember is the first part of the show (which I thought was FREAKING AMAZING).
I just finished reading Zetsuen no Tempest yesterday. It is really good, but they would need a lot of CGI to make…
Zetsuen no Tempest has such a great anime. It's super underrated. There's some slight flaws, but still probably at least a 9 in my books. Can't say the same about the anime Tokyo Ghoul though. Omg... one of the seasons they made was so baddddd. I watched both seasons and it was so bad that I don't remember 90% of the anime.
I'm still not as impressed with this compared to the original chinese version (BBJX). I know it's a…
Haha. Yep I was thinking the same thing about the fanservice before I read your last half. I kind of expected this to be completely different from the Chinese version. Even most of the best korean palace/historical drama seems to pale to Chinese palace/historical dramas. I feel like it's just because they use too many Kdrama tropes.
There's two things that I really like about the last two episodes though. It includes the scenes between the king and the crown prince and IU and the mom-like court lady. I really liked that they added that onto there because it gives us a better idea of why characters act in such a way. i.e. the king protects the crown prince because he fought beside him and had each other's backs (literally). The stuff with IU and the court lady helping her was nice too. It adds some character info/development to what was mostly a fanservicey show up until the last two episodes.

I get what you're saying and I sort of agree with some of your points. However let me elaborate. Imagine that you just met a person who has been undeniably convicted for murder. Do you have the right to judge person and believing that they are a bad person for killing someone (similar to dropping a drama after ep1)? I would say that you're within your rights to believe so. Would you also be within your rights to get to know why that person committed murder? Again, you're with your rights.
The part of your statement that I disagree with is the part where you say "you can't judge a plot you haven't seen". You're right and wrong at the same time. As a person is not judging the parts they haven't seen. So you're right there. Yet at the same time though, they're also judging the parts that they HAVE seen when they drop the drama.
I actually find this ironic and all because I'm currently watching the 2nd episode. It seems I fit the exact mold of the person I'm writing about. I'm going to drop the drama for now and wait to see the ratings at the end before deciding whether or not I want to finish this lol.

You could also say it's being small-minded by believing that people shouldn't drop a drama after the first episode. The job of a drama is to have as many people like it as possible. As it gives them better ratings which leads to more money. How is that the a person's fault if the drama doesn't get the person watching to like it. Should everyone just watch every single episode of every show that they have ever watched just because of the possible perception that a show might get better? I.e. I watch a show and after about 8 of 16 episodes I see that it's crap and deserve a score of a 1. Should i just keep watching because the show "just started"?
Everybody has their own likes and dislikes. Maybe they just didn't like this show. Everyone is entitled to their opinions. They are also entitled to drop a drama per their own liking. Just like how you're entitled to saying good things about this drama as well as watching it until the end.
Gosh the music is so distracting!!! The ost is way too modern for a sageuk. Especially in Soo-So scenes in episode…
Agreed. This is pretty bad for a Korean drama. I don't remember many dramas where I've actually noticed that the music doesn't fit the part. Most if not almost all dramas do a very good job with this. MDL wise, this show is lacking a lot. Bad music, bad actors, and an average to below average story.
Honestly I was hoping for Moon Lovers to be better, but this is currently the best! A simple story that's unpredictable…
Moon lovers just needs to quicken its pace a little bit. Most period dramas need some sort of villain to make it a little more interesting. We've spent like 3 episodes on the 8th prince already. Kind of a waste of time considering we know that she's probably not going to end up with him. On the other hand, the next episode looks promising though. Preview looks to shake things up a bit. The drama needs some tropes too like this one, as you mentioned.
As far as acting goes in Moon Lover, it's not even IU. Her acting is fine, although I'm not sure picking her was best overall for the show. Her known "cuteness" works for her character and dynamic that the writer/director are trying to go for. However, I don't think the audience likes it. Furthermore, I think the audience (us) is construing it as bad acting on her part. I'm more concerned about some of the prince's acting.
On the bright side, I really like the use of the scenery in Moon Lovers. There are some beautiful shots in that drama. I can't tell if it's CGI or not, but the scenery makes it look like a legit big budget film/drama.
Honestly I was hoping for Moon Lovers to be better, but this is currently the best! A simple story that's unpredictable with characters that show chemistry. Not like Moon Lovers where there's bad acting. Or W where there is so many twists that the story doesn't even make sense.
I just cannot comprehend how mature people can like this. What some describe as plot twists I view as plot-randomness…
I agree with your comment. I feel the same way as well. Do I think that dramas need random surprises? Yes, of course as that's what keeps viewers interested. A show's not worth watching if you can predict what happens. Most shows have filler parts where there's dialogue that doesn't need to be there etc. Plot twists keeps it interesting I think the latest episode explains things a tiny bit better in terms of the whole fantasy setting ayacherry was talking about. I think it's kind of BS, but at least it gives some sort of explanation. I.e. There is two worlds that coexist and the comic is basically a gateway. I'm glad they explained that because it fills in some plot holes. Before it was like having Spiderman without having the spider biting him and explaining how it all started.
Oh and I'm not sure how I feel about the score on MDL. Do I think that this show is above average? Yes, I do. However, I'm not sure that it really qualifies as one of the best show ever according to reviewers on MDL. Signal, 1 Liter of Tears, and Nirvana in Fire I can understand as I have watched all of those. Either drama writers are getting smarter, or MDL reviewers are handing out 10/10s like candy. As there are a ton of recent Korean dramas within the 8.8-93 range.
I liked the first episode. The scenery in the drama is amazing. I can't tell if it's CGI or not, but it definitely seems that they didn't skimp. I'm not sure about their choice of modern music though, doesn't really fit in with a period/historical drama. Although I admit that I like the music a lot, just not in this context. Here's hoping that this is not just an idol drama and that it'll be the best drama of the year!
I don't know how I feel about this...it's getting kinda messy. Still like it tho but too much is happening for…
Agreed. I'm not sure how I feel about all of these things that are going on. I mean they never explain how the villain can teleport/steal faces from the real world. Maybe they'll add zombies or Godzilla in the next few episodes. It wouldn't even be that hard to add to the drama.
