Considering I have never seen anything like it anywhere in Europe I would say no, it's a not European cake. The closest thing that comes to mind is the American twinkie cake which is quite ironic considering that's where the gay slang "twink" comes from... 😂

Well, I think he was being sarcastic (probably something he has picked up from being a student at Harrow), but sarcasm isn't really a thing in Thailand is it?

If he'd said that over here in Europe (and especially UK) most people wouldn't bat an eyelid and would likely join him making more jokes. But then we don't take ourselves too seriously - I get the impresson it requires little effort to offend someone in Thailand...

Those accounts are likely managed by a team and not the artists themselves. I doubt Fourth or Gemini even have access to them to post anything themselves!

Hm... Fourth yes, Gemini's acting is passable at best - especially in this series. I don't think Gemini wants to do acting, he'd much rather be a pop/music "idol". Fourth is pretty much carrying this series all by himself (which is saying something as the series is a bit underwhelming and one very long ad). When i first saw the trailer I though his over the top portrayal would annoy me, but he's managed to make it endearing and cute which is no small feat. So, props to him!

GMMTV is/has shifted focus as the money is not on series, it's on concerts, live events, sponsorships and merchandise.

Sorry, this was lazy. What a disappointment - especially considering the other Skyy episodes brought different storylines. Didn’t bother watching after half an episode. Exact rehash of the same story…

The quality of series definitely varies, but you can still find decent series - you just have to be more picky. I don't mind GMMTV but you do need to go in with your eyes wide open. I am not going to name any artist names but seeing some of them after being on their roster for so many years suddenly start doing live music concerts... you kinda go: huh??!!

It's pretty obvious what they're trying to do and what their focus is. I can certainly sense the frustration at times from some of their artists. They're hoovering up everyone they can think of that is popular, and any artists who won't adapt to this new reality will likely either leave or be dropped once their contract is up.

The interesting thing about these live concerts is that they almost always feature certain "guests". The guest tends to be a member of what is probably the most popular pair at the moment...

I agree, they should stop this official pairing and exclusion of others. In fact, they seem to be moving away from that to a degree which I think is good.

However, the issue is a bit more complex for a lot of these actors - FK included. This is my brutal and honest opinion based on what I have seen GMMTV do in the past 2-3 years (maybe even longer). GMMTV has been moving away from being a series producing company to a wider entertainment business with music, variety shows, concerts etc, and of course series as well. But the series are actually no longer its main source of income. They can make a lot more money from things like live concerts and variety shows. And GMMTV is first and foremost a business and not a charity. And as with most businesses profits come first.

The focus on the type of artists they want has shifted. It's no longer about being a good actor (although that is still important). It is about being an all round entertainer. The artists are expected to host, do variety shows, concerts, sing, dance, play instruments, act, promote etc. Look at what their focus has been on recently and the type of artists they are promoting and headlining.

So, you have to ask yourself - who fits that mould? Why do some get more exposure than others? What are the expectations on the artists? Is GMMTV the right studio for some of these artists?

"Some news"...? Would this be someone on X/Twitter by any chance? Unless an official statement is made by GMMTV or the actor himself then I would say no it isn't true. However, he is free and it is his prerogative to choose the roles he wants, and he doesn't need to provide anyone with a reason or excuse.

Well, they sort of have a point. There is no overarching plot as such, it's mainly a story about people's lives. Each couple has its own storyline in a way, with some crossover between them. But a missing overarching plot doesn't mean it's a bad series.

They can indeed be intricate, but as long as you show some goodwill and ensure proper royalties are paid and credit is given where due these can usually be overcome.

As I understand it this is the second "copy" series GMMTV has done from the same publisher (F4 flowers something?). So, my guess is there is history here...

Hm... yeah... That is a very convoluted and unecessarily lengthy explanation to describe the likely fact that GMMTV is, basically, not paying - or hasn't paid - the royalties that are due to the owners of the copyrighted material, and they have been served with a cease and desist letter. My guess is that there's past history of them not paying publishers - or not paying them promptly, and the publisher has simply had enough. All legal mumbo jumbo aside, it all boils down to one simple thing: MONEY! GMMTV is making money on the back of someone else's work and they need to pay for that privilege. Otherwise they are committing intellectual property theft.

There's nothing special about Japanese copyright law that makes it different or more difficult, they operate in the same way as most other nations do. GMMTV is just lazy, unprofessional and greedy. This is not the first time they have copied a series or film (and not done a very good job at it either).

There's a simple way for GMMTV to avoid this problem - stop being lazy and copying other series, create your own instead - or find stories that have not been made into series yet and negiotiate the full rights with the author. And if you are going to copy something - pay the royalties!
