They can indeed be intricate, but as long as you show some goodwill and ensure proper royalties are paid and credit is given where due these can usually be overcome.

As I understand it this is the second "copy" series GMMTV has done from the same publisher (F4 flowers something?). So, my guess is there is history here...

Hm... yeah... That is a very convoluted and unecessarily lengthy explanation to describe the likely fact that GMMTV is, basically, not paying - or hasn't paid - the royalties that are due to the owners of the copyrighted material, and they have been served with a cease and desist letter. My guess is that there's past history of them not paying publishers - or not paying them promptly, and the publisher has simply had enough. All legal mumbo jumbo aside, it all boils down to one simple thing: MONEY! GMMTV is making money on the back of someone else's work and they need to pay for that privilege. Otherwise they are committing intellectual property theft.

There's nothing special about Japanese copyright law that makes it different or more difficult, they operate in the same way as most other nations do. GMMTV is just lazy, unprofessional and greedy. This is not the first time they have copied a series or film (and not done a very good job at it either).

There's a simple way for GMMTV to avoid this problem - stop being lazy and copying other series, create your own instead - or find stories that have not been made into series yet and negiotiate the full rights with the author. And if you are going to copy something - pay the royalties!

Agree about the animals. In my view the story suffered because way too much time was spent on Heart and LiMing's soppy teenage story, so they had to rush through the other stuff. Poor Earth was terribly miscast in this and is receiving a lot of flack. I don't think it's his fault, they should have either hired an older actor or made the character younger.

That's because they were given more than half the airtime! So much for a drama about adult themes. The Moonlight Heart and LiMing show! Just read all the comments... it's all about Heart/LiMing.

Character development for Wen is all over the place in this series and does not make a lot of sense. We're supposed to like him, support him and feel for him but he comes across as a selfish douchebag (sorry Wen fans). Whether that was intentional or not I'm not sure (I suspect not), but it's one of my gripes with this series. I agree with you on your thoughts on Alan.

Episode one of this has not even been out for more than 24h and has over a million views (all parts combined), meanwhile Double Savage can't even muster 200k views all episodes so far combined... talk about a flop 😂

I'm trying to watch this but the whole "master" & "servant" thing is starting to become too much for me... I thought I could ignore it as something cultural but it's incredibly unappealing and off-putting. I don't know how common this is in Thailand but it really needs to be stamped out of society.

Yeah she was definitely rude and elitist. She was facing Gun when saying this. To be honest, there are so many "elitist" artists in GMMTV's roster that it does make you wonder how much nepotism is involved in their decision to bring artists on board.

At least Gun is a talented actor as opposed to just a rich pretty boy (not that there's anything wrong with his looks). He has worked his way up in this business and is recognised as a proper actor.

Never suggested I was the sole arbiter of what is good or bad, nor did I suggest that only my view is valid. Everyone is free to disagree with me as I'm free to disagree with them. I didn't dislike it, it just fell a bit short for me in certain aspects.

That being said, I re-read your comment above and realised I was too quick with my response, which I now appreciate was slightly off topic. My initial impression of your post was that you were being dismissive of views based on a presumptions of people's age. But that's not actually what you were saying. Apologies for that. Next time I will make sure to read the post a couple of times before posting a reply!

Interesting comment about P'Aof. His other shows were pretty decent, and because of that I had hopes for this one as well. However, the others were all warm and fluffy love stories. And it's almost like he tried to do the same with this one, both with Jim/Wen and also Heart Li Ming. So much time spent on the latter two... They got half the screen time!

Hopefully JoJo can pull it back with Only Friends.
