Wait what the heck? Are they not aware of the characters condition? Jeez it's not okay but it was never meant…
It's alright, Alex Stefan is true that my behavior is a bit annoying. But I cannot help it, I have this pettiness to let the world know that this semi-woke culture that originated in 2020 is toxic. This is something confused for hating on IONTBO, but it is not. I tried to explain how dangerous cancel culture was also with BR, but not a lot of people agreed because they were blinded by a certain controversial character and therefore could not see the bigger picture/problems. With IONTBO I can now let these same people know that this shit cancel culture is totally random. So sometimes I go overboard with my comments, but I do not mean it bad...
I wouldn't worry about it too much. This drama only received like 50 official complaints while there are dramas…
- It led to the disbandment of X1 - Affected promotions of Iz*One -PD Ahn Joon-young was fined ₩37 million and sentenced to two years - CP Kim Yong-beom was sentenced to 20 months - Assistant PD Lee Mi-kyung was fined ₩10 million - Agency representatives identified only as "Kim", "Lee", and "Ryu" were fined ₩7 million apiece, while two additional representatives both identified as "Kim" were each fined ₩5 million
Don't care about the rest, but the disbandment of X1 is the main one. A "disbandment" of IONTBO would be banning the show - definitely in Korea. Also, until so far, there is also no new Produce-season... Probably never will.
By the way, both cases are not comparable. Whilst one concerns vote rigging - an actual crime. IONTBO contains " glamorizing sexual harassment on a children's timeslot". The MNET-case was a case that they could not turn a blind eye too, but still sort of did. With IONTBO they could easily look away - not a lot of people were bothered by it (only 50 people). Even if the KCSC did not like it, they could hand out a warning, a fine, deduct some points of TVN, but why court sanctions? That is a step too far.
The KCSC are just a bunch of antis or they have some serious beef with TVN. It seems personal and that makes it different from the Produce-series... If the KCSC would punish IONTBO for showing too explicit scenes, they could increase the age restriction or cut out the scenes (such as with TWOTM and Backstreet Rookie). But instead the KCSC accuses the show of condoning sexual harassment, which is an act that cannot be solved with an age restriction or re-editing of the scenes. My opinion: The KCSC is out there for blood and wants this show banned.
But what is weird - some of the K-netizens also mention it - is that almost no one reported about it. TVN and CJ ENM are doing a good job getting it out of the news.
Yes, your article is correct. Court sanctions are inevitable (whatever that means):https://www.sportsworldi.com/newsView/20200826525852I…
The real haters are at the KCSC. I am only a bystander. My comments will hardly have an impact, whilst the pettiness of the KCSC will ruin any real chances of this drama ever winning awards... Which is a pity. Although I did not like this drama, the majority seemed to enjoyed it. So if it would win, it would be fair game.
I am not the type of person that will go on the street and riot just because the majority of the nation voted for a prime-minister/president that I do not like. I am mature enough to accept the result. I also have the same attitude towards award shows and such... The best deserves to win, not the one I like the most...
So who would have ever thought the call was made from a bar? That threw me for a loop! Ji Won knows her husband…
What if the real BHS fell for the same trick as the other victims of the serial murderer?
This is my theory:
BHS hits DHS and brings him to his parent's house. BHS feels guilty and runs away from home, because he cannot stand the nagging of his mom... He has no income and is afraid to get arrested for hitting DHS with his car. So he needs a job that does not do background checks and accidentally gets in contact with those gangsters. Those gangsters think he is good "raw material" and feed him that weird, white substance that they also tried to feed DHS. Et voila, due to the poison he is paralyzed and becomes a vegetable.
BHS' dad knows the accomplice (hence the phone number in his flip phone), perhaps he does business with the accomplice to get organs from the "raw materials". Does a deal and discovers that this time that the "raw material" is his son - BHS. Instead of taking his organs, he is taking his comatose son back home. So I think that the accomplice is a middleman for both BHS' dad and DHS' dad
I wouldn't worry about it too much. This drama only received like 50 official complaints while there are dramas…
Exactly, so why would they punish CJ ENM/TVN? They would rather punish the minnow, which in this case would be the show itself. Furthermore, why would the KCSC attack CJ ENM/TVN when they could also let it slide (there are only 50 complaints)... You need to realize that a court action is much more severe than how they treated BR, TWOTM and other controversial shows. CJ ENM/TVN must have insulted someone at the KCSC...
Go to article 100 and see what sanctions they can get. Amongst them:
Article 100 (1) 2. A correction, rectification, or suspension of the relevant broadcast program or commercial; 3. A disciplinary action against the person in charge of broadcast programming or the person related to the relevant broadcast program or commercial;
Article 100 (2) Where the sanction under paragraph (1) is imposed due to a person cast for the relevant broadcast program, the relevant broadcasting business entity shall take an appropriate measure, such as a warning, restrictions on casting for the relevant broadcasting program
And so on, and so forth. I would not be surprised if TVN will throw IONTBO under the bus to give KCSC some recognition. It is definitely within the powers of KCSC to pull this show from syndication...
See, I can't understand why some people find happiness when others have some problem.Once again I will quote 'Haters…
Based on this development, the political correct folks at the Baeksang's will never give this drama an award. It was already a dark horse, as it was not a massive hit in Korea and the competition is very tough in 2020/2021... The legal punishment is definitely the last straw for them to win anything.
I wouldn't worry about it too much. This drama only received like 50 official complaints while there are dramas…
There is a difference though. The complaint-part is over. The amount of complaints is now irrelevant. KCSC took on the case and decided they want to push for legal sanctions.
See, I can't understand why some people find happiness when others have some problem.Once again I will quote 'Haters…
But here is the things though... This is Netflix... They caved in to criticism regarding racism such as with Little Britain, It's Sunny in Philadelphia and Fawlty Towers. They will not market a show that is OFFICIALLY AND LEGALLY punished for sexual harassment. I think there is a good chance Netflix will pull the show (voluntarily), if IONTBO is found guilty. Correct me if I am wrong, but some areas cannot watch the show yet, right? Do you think they will launch the show in those areas after all the criticism? Certainly not.
You said it best: Let's hope for the best and prepare for the worst.
I don't know why you are targeting part of your anger towards BR, because I truly believe that this same restrictive…
I agree with you, but you do realize that BR only had one kiss throughout the whole show? So even watching paint dry would be more sexually arousing haha... So "steamy" is relative...
I don't know why you are targeting part of your anger towards BR, because I truly believe that this same restrictive…
The dreads-guy of BR was not an issue to the KCSC. They did not punish BR for that.
They punished BR for the "sexual-part", but you have to be honest that IONTBO was definitely steamier than BR. Also, IONTBO is broadcast earlier than BR, so that works against them as well.
When people were complaining about BR, they should have only complained about the cultural appropriation part. After all, that is what people were the most offended about. Instead, people were so eager to destroy the show that they took the liberty to criticize everything. But this attitude backfired and now every remotely steamy scene in a drama will be punished.
It is my own speculation that they will remove it from the streaming platforms. Because the show has already finished, so there is no way to re-film the parts.
But there will be certainly some consequences. The drama already ended more than two weeks ago. The fact that they are still investigating it, shows that punishment will be inevitable.
Court sanctions sounds like a serious punishment tool though... I wonder what will come from it?
Guys what is this fuss about sexual harassment? Tell me it's not something too serious! The show didn't even have…
I don't know why you are targeting part of your anger towards BR, because I truly believe that this same restrictive attitude is what will destroy the legacy of IONTBO. Due to the overreaction regarding BR, artistic freedom has strongly be limited. People should never have tried to censor BR, because it basically sets a precedent to punish every mildly offensive show.
Koreeda is one of the best directors and screenwriters in the world. His stories are always simple and raw with real people... No unnecessary shit, no crazy twist and turns, no false hope.
He will work with great actors. Definitely looking forward to his first Korean movie.
I am very excited for this year award ceremony because this drama will definitely win the Grand Prize (Daesang).…
Don't think it will win it anymore... The Korea Communications Standards Commission has announced today that there will be court sanctions for the usage of slander, genitalization, and justification of sexual harassment... The show will be lucky if it will not be removed from any legal streaming platform. These award shows are politically correct, so even if the show deserves the win, they will not give it to them... I guess you should start rooting for "Flower of Evil" then...

I guess there won't be season 2 and definitely no Baeksang Awards for this show...
