a darker shade of romance
When i started watching this series, I wasn't sure where the story was heading - there were these wierd cases and there was female lead's relentless pursuit of her friend's case and her excessive care towards her students - No teacher can be as selfless towards their students as she is, despite knowing protecting them could mean she could sufffer losses, she still does it, her excessive care tells you she went through something, but it wasnt apparent in the beginning what it was and dont know how to tie it all up, it took a few episodes for the story to establish what the story want to say and where it is headed. I was shocked by some of the stuff, and very grateful to the makers for bringing this story to life. As someone in the comments section said, this series helped label excessive, manipulative behaviours that were difficult to understand oneself, and explain to others. This story is a must-watch for all genders, not just women. Manipulation can happen to both genders, though it seemed skewed towards one gender in this series.Spoilers Ahead... Read only after you have watched the series
Coming to the story itself, FL had a great childhood, with loving parents and a comfortable life. All changed one fine day when her father died in an accident that turned her life upside down. From a safe, loving childhood , it turned the surviving parent into an emotional abuser and a trusted family friend to prey upon her. A one-night stand at her emotionally weak moment made her a single parent. And the scandal of her association with an older man made her the subject of gossip on the lips of her contemporaries, someone unworthy of respect. Though life/fate served her badly, she stubbornly headed forward with positivity, completed her education, secured decent employment, and raised her son exceedingly well.
Coming to ML, he comes from a relatively poorer family , raised in a faraway place. An abusive father, a meek mother who couldn't protect herself or her children. A childhood filled with beatings and more beatings. His only salvation was his sister's protection. His sense of 1st betrayal was from his parents - one abusive and one useless (to protect him from abusive one!) , his 2nd betrayal was in his perception from his sister - who was his shield and protected him from his abusive father - betrayed him by finding herself a boy friend , then find life away from the family .. he sees this a betrayal 2 ways , one loving someone else more than him and abandoning him and going away. Though his sister was probably a young lady herself with a strong protective instinct , who took immense beatings from their father in his stead, was probably trying to find a ray of light in her dark world in her boyfriend, and going away was her way of trying to secure resources, funds to help her much smarter younger brother to have a higher education that she herself couldn't have. If there was someone who is the epitome of selflessness in this series , it would be her.(along with FL )....
ML couldn't handle these betrayals - and turns into something he probably abhored in his childhood- a monster . ... while FL , though she had every reason to hate life, people, society, and hit back at the world for not protecting her younger self,
She becomes an epitome of kindness to the needy,
same dastardly circumstances turns one inhuman and another a divine person....
different shades of love-
though i labelled this series as darker shade of love/ romance..there are actually some varied shared of love in this series
- divine pure love
mother -son love of FL - though she saw some huge upheveal , FL
sister - brother love
friend 's love

-- the moralistic , honorable hypocrite's love
--> guilt love
--> dark love

Light vs Darkness
No matter how fiercely the darkness prevails, light will always triumph in the end. - this quote sums up this dramaFinished watching Vendetta of An., finally This is one of the best dramas that has come out in 2025 year-end. I enjoyed watching every bit of it, craving for more episodes. I had so much to vent while watching, about humans acting worse than animals, and also wondered if living is so important that one would kill to live. . ML's side answered my question, they killed too , so that others lived , not for greed , not for power , but to bring peace to the realm. they killed only the garbage parading in human skin . .. they have mostly forgiven or protected innocents (even if they have done mistakes , unknowingly) . I loved and hated the deposed king. it took so much death and destruction for him to grow a pair! On the contrary though I started off being suspicious of his brother, i ended up admiring him in the end. He came out as being more compassionate , politically matured and more deserving of the throne , and i felt bad that he died in the end. Some of the moments felt so helpless, and i was worried ML's side wouldnt be able to succeed . and only a miracle would help them succeed - and that miracle is ML himself - the ending was so intense and he indeed strategised the win so brilliantly , and convinsingly!
I immensely enjoyed the series, no doubt about it! And I will follow the original author's works more closely. I think the author is immensely talented.
The drama captured the essence and presented it powerfully and convincingly. I loved the fast pace .my only grouse was, it needed more episodes to do justice to all that content (choppy editing didnt help) - in the later episodes i sometimes struggled with names /characters /context , when some references made by various character , more episodes would have given us more context , breathing space to catch up. the fast pacing though i loved was so fast that i found myself racing (albeight not as fast )playing catchup.... Otherwise good content , acting , direction ..... will revisit this series again.

my forever sunshine
i enjoyed the series , atleast when I didn't permit the FL's bad dress style , atrocious hair , forever clinging backpack and childlike/childish mannerisms bother me .it was a good series , at least for the timeline it was made.
i loved the younger versions better.. both luo yunxi and janice wu did such a fabulous job. In comparison , I found the old versions pale in comparison. don't get me wrong. i love both wallace chung and tiffany tang. but it seems the younger and older versions seemed like totally different people , not in the way "they grew up , so they are different " way.... they felt different people..
if I ignore this part and try to enjoy younger and old versions as independent stories , I had a better time enjoying the series. I loved the story of younger version - I liked the exuberance and initiative taking personality of FL - the initial hesitency , but "all in " mode of ML when he accepted her. i felt sorry , somewhere life took away that naiveness and full of life personality of FL.. and reduced the ML to "if not her , then no one " stage , where mere indication of travel on her part could trigger PTSD in him and get him to attack her. i hated it , but it also made me think the intensity of his feelings for her. such love is rare. its nice to see it had a great ending .
talking of love, what is it with Cdramas , there is always some character who doesn't give up and keep pursuing unrequited love. i don't mind waiting when one is/was in an acknowledged relationship.. but , waiting for someone who though not confessed, knew about it , and clearly not acknowledging it or rejecting it or taking it forward. such love I feel is a mental issue . being in such constant delusion is what? ML's meimei is clearly always looking for a "seemingly valid reason" to keep pursing him and justifying it.
and I never understood this concept of "being worthy of loved" I keep hearing it in c dramas and k dramas .. as if there is a list of qualifications to be eligible to be loved or to love.. dear c/k drama writers.. there is no such qualification - anyone can love anyone - qualifications of any kind doesn't matter -- it happens , people fall in love - and who the hell is bystanders questioning it?
ok, enough ranting - its a nice series if u ignore few things , so don't mind my ranting

my forever sunshine (series) too
Where shall I start - it is a masterpiece in every sense.. How many times have I watched this - for its story , for main leads , for the side characters, the OST and so much more. This is my go-to everytime I miss watching a soulful series . I have spent many many hours discussing the story with friends and my pov on the happening in the story- esp who bore lions share of responsibility in the events that happened in 5th ep , which was a huge shock for me when I first watched it. i hated peang when I watched it 1st time. and every time I watched I understood her - and why events happened the way they did. and now I strongly believe she is the only other matured person in the entire series after athit's father. rest , everyone , had no character development from beginning to end. not even Mark. At one point I also held the view she should have gone back to sunshine farms , but should have never gotten together with athit . going back was important for her emotional wellbeing , as she was stuck in the past , and needed to move on -as said by uncle , which I agree. but given that she has everything now- beauty , maturity , money and good academic credentials , she should have moved on and married someone else. and not gotten herself entangled with athit and dwellers of sunshine farms again.nevertheless , I still immensely love the series - that's to Mark and Kao, esp Kao.
Mark and Kao are my forever favorites now , thanks to this series.
