I loved the drama and the actors had done a fantastic job.
It felt very balanced, had clever writing and a good solemn atmosphere.
But...
(spoilers)
(spoiler alert, come back after you finish the drama)
(no, seriously. ENDING SPOILERS)
I felt like one of the most memorable moments should have been Mei Chang Su's passing, but the details of his last moments were completely got shrouded in mystery.
The previous episodes were full of depth and because of that, it felt like the last episode had ended abruptly and a bit lackluster.
It also lacked the aftermath of the characters from the Alliance that followed Mei Chang Su into battle.
I understand that the drama have it's limits.
Maybe excluding the scenes of his death was also the whole point of it. 'Disappearing without a trace' after he completed his goals, the rest of the characters went on with their lives, and some went traveling how they had planned, and such.
But the drama began with us knowing that he's already dying. Maybe I lack the insight, but throughout the drama I was eagerly expecting to know how they'll portray his death.
Fast forward to the last 56 minutes. Dong Chan is tapping his nephew's shoulder.
Even if you go back and look at it again, it's not clear enough. How can you prove that it is Dong Chan? The part where Soo-Hyun and her daughter was looking at the water was hinting something. But I'm not saying you shoun't have any hopes for it. I'm must saying, there is no facts about him surviving.
i found this on kdramastars A staff member of "God's Gift" said on April 23rd on a phone call with <SportsSeoul.com>,…
They always say it's an 'open ending' when they're avoiding the question. Was it so hard to add him in the scene openly for 2 seconds? It was kinda dumb.
It was going great until the last minute. What in the HELL they were thinking with that ending? It doesn't make any freaking sense. Why the HELL did he thought he had to die to safe her? Total disappointment. The story was mysterious and interesting and then they finish it up with your favorite character stupidly killing himself for no logical reason that doesn't even have an explanation or any relation to the story and it's issue.

Oh I'm taking a break because I felt like playing video games more. And I'm waiting for more exiting drama to release. :D

Yup. I'm taking a little break though, but those dramas that I've finished were worth it. :D
The theme was interesting overall. But the acting was really amateur. It felt like the characters were plainly reading out of the script. It was like everyone became Bella Swan all of the sudden but worse, because they were actually trying.
No trouble at all.
It's actually been a while sense I've watched it. So I don't exactly remember all the details or what moved me, but I didn't regret finishing it for sure.
I strongly suggest bearing through your unlikable characters and try to finish it.
First time I've watched it, I've actually had it on hold after the starting episodes. But I gave it another shot after watching Ji Sung in The Great Seer, and I learned to enjoy it.
So good luck. And I hope you'll enjoy it as well. =)

Yes, Step Into the Past character is quiet likeable. For me, mostly because he's quiet intelligent and logical in his situation. I totally agree with you about Cho Seung Woo in Horse Doctor. He's giving away this feeling of warmth. Watching him in that drama made me watch The Sword With No Name movie. And I've learned a bit about Korean history at the same time.

I'm glad I had such an impact on someone! :) About my introduction, I believe sharing a bit how I got into all this would make people more interested into Asian shows more, as well as watching shows from different Asian countries. I was quiet satisfied with A Step Into The Past, and I strongly hope you'll love it at the end as well. Have a great day, & thanks for your comment. It has made my day! :D
The second episode is not available in the internet, so I was forced to download and watch it raw. But so far it's really entertaining and have plenty of hilarious scenes. Especially with Sammul Chan as one of the main roles. The comedy is similar to 'In the Eye of the Beholder'.
