I couldn't get through the whole movie. The first 15 minutes, especially in the locker room, was a repeat of many…
I definitely know what you mean. This movie was also very hard for me to get through. Even though I'm much younger than you, I've grown up in a very conservative and very Catholic country, so I could still sadly experience some of the things they touched upon in the movie. But still, I feel like watching it until the end was worth it, even though the movie is not "original" or revolutionary, the tropes are sadly universal and I feel like they did show them in a refreshing way (the setting is very interesting, not many movies/TV shows set during that time period in Taiwan, also the Catholic school setting).
We should celebrate the world and society moving forward but we still shouldn't forget that for many people it's still very hard and for hundreds (if not more) of years a lot of people have had these experiences. A lot of potential and real "love stories" were wasted in the process, and for a lot of people know even though they are happy that it's getting better, they still feel like it's too late for them. That their youth and "first loves" fell victim to the rampant homophobia, whether from other people or from themselves through internalized homophobia. Apparently that was the message the director wanted to send and I feel like he did it perfectly.
It's okay to stop watching something if you can't handle it or it is triggering for you, but maybe sometimes it's also good to face your traumas? It can be therapeutic in a way. Not forcing you though, you know yourself the best, I just wanted to latch onto your comment to leave my thoughts.
I'm surprised to see a lot of people hating on the Su Ying/Xiao Yu Er pairing. I thought it was very fitting how the only girl he really falls for is the one who can match him in wits and that their relationship started by her locking him up lol While I did like Tie Xin Lan/Xiao Yu Er in the beginning I thought she was just too bland for him in the end. Not a good match. And they had menough development in my opinion, yeah she first appeared in like ep 34 but that's still 10 episodes of constant screentime.
I am done with HIStory 1 and 2. The comments are scaring me. I avoid tragic endings like the plague. I will watch…
I think this is perhaps the most tragic ending you can imagine. I'm okay with bittersweet endings and even sad endings but this one legit made me hate life for a moment. (not sure if that counts as a spoiler or not)
I have been enjoying this drama up until the episode where Xiang Haoting basically rapes Yu Xigu. And they downplay…
I wish I dropped this drama after that episode tbh, I just finished it and not only did we get some more questionable non-con and Haoting basically being moody because Xigu didn't want to "give it to him" but also the ending was... weird. Like I felt like after episode 18 this drama completely changed its vibe. It's not that I didn't like it (I usually prefer sad endings) but... it just felt off, like I was watching a different show.
I have to say I'm a bit impressed with the second couple. The way they started felt very awkward to me and I had my doubts about the age-gap but they actually made it work and I'm very satisfied with their ending.
I have been enjoying this drama up until the episode where Xiang Haoting basically rapes Yu Xigu. And they downplay it as "he was having a fever and was not thinking straight". What the actual hell? I can't bring myself to enjoy any more scenes they have together. That single handedly destroyed the drama for me. I will still finish it because I really enjoy Sun Bo as a character and it's way too late for me to drop it anyways, might as well finish it but YIKES... just why?
are they really trying to guilt trip Si Tu Feng into marrying Xin Ya? That's fucked up. Not only for Si Tu Feng but also for Xin Ya, no matter how awful she can be she deserves someone who genuinely loves her.
Gu Nan Xi was such a cute little puppy i just wish he wasnt just a second lead and actually got some story.Also...…
same, Fang Fang and Lin Yi Yang storyline is painfully cliche but I can't help it, I'm more drawn to it than the main story. Probably helps a lot that the actor playing Lin Yi Yang is very attractive...
I really want it to be good but I'm afraid of the kdrama curse - good premise and the potential to be a great drama that ends up being a romance drama with a slightly different flavor and the rest just being a background for it. Is that the case?
I just have to say I love Xin Rui's transformation!!! She had a fullblown GLOWUP, them bangs doing WORK for her and she's getting cunty! Stay confident sis!
I really wanted to give it a try, then I saw suzy as main role and remember her poor acting skills in '' while…
funnily enough her acting skills got worse instead of better. I thought she was pretty good in Dream High - not top tier acting but at least didn't make me cringe and she didn't ruin any scenes.
I finished it, overall I liked this drama but I felt like they were dragging things out in the last few episodes, I mean seriously, they kiss and act like a couple and they still think like they're friends and have no idea whether they like each other? lol And did Yuanxin really stop talking to Yaxiu just because she found that hair accessory or were there other reasons they lost contact?
The main storyline was enjoyable but I feel like the side storylines were pretty impactful too, just didn't care much for Yuanxin's brother. I also felt like Yuxuan's storyline could've been explored a little bit more outside of that one episode where they went to her house, I feel like they could've done more with that. Also thank god she quickly changed (but still retained her confidence), I don't think I could stand 24 episodes of her hating Yuxuan for no reason. Dawei's storyline was pretty good too, I felt like it was pretty realistic, I'm just not sure what happened to Dawen in the end, did he die or not? Don't know whether they didn't made it clear enough or if it's because I'm not 100% fluent in Chinese. I know he got lost/disappeared (消失) after he went to study abroad but I don't remember any funeral or anything so I expected him to show up sooner or later.
Why is the audio for Zheng Da Wei so weird? Whenever he talks it sounds so out of place? Is the actor playing him not actually talking, like is his voice dubbed or something?
I'm at episode 8 and it's not a bad drama but the main male lead annoys me so much that sometimes I really want to just drop it. Female lead chasing him even though he's a giant douche bag doesn't help either, actually I can kind of see why he would be so grumpy and annoyed all the time considering how clingy she is and doesn't have any pride. But then why throw tantrums when he sees her with someone else? I guess it is kinda realistic but doesn't make it any less annoying. If not for the other storylines (Bo Song and his dad, the second couple) and the fact that this drama has relatively simple Chinese allowing me to practice I would've probably dropped.
Imho don't watch it if you're looking for a truly good drama. Do watch it if you just want something to watch or if you wanna take a break from intense dramas.
If you're looking for a good Chinese HS drama watch "With You". The male lead is cute and smart and guess what, he's not a complete asshole. Has good side storylines too. https://kisskh.at/16987-with-you
you can watch it here - https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6i2z2r all the other episodes released so far are on this channel as well. Sadly, no English subs. Hopefully somebody will pick it up because it sounds really interesting.

Looks good so far but I'm more interested in the second couple (the step?brothers), hopefully they get enough screentime.
