I totally get where you are coming from. I won't say i totally dislike it but i also do not think it deserves…
Hahaha the feeling is totally mutual :) Omg I wanted to watch FoE when it was airing but then I chickened out because I hate angst LOL. I'll definitely give it a go, though, thank you for these recs!! I know Memorist is on my to-watch list, as well, I've heard it's really well done. Yong Pal sounds really good too, I'll have to add it, I love shows like it that are kind of out of the ordinary!
:) Some good slice of life shows are 30 but 17/Still 17, Misaeng, and Touch Your Heart! The first one is kind of melo-esque but it's about a woman who's getting to know herself after being in a coma. Misaeng is just a fun office environment and TYH is a broke actor working in a law firm. Honestly speaking, the last one is suuuuper cheesy hahaha, but it's so fun because it's nice to turn my brain off. I also got super bored watching Something in the Rain! It was so unrealistic that it took me out haha. I also don't know if you watch Chinese dramas, but Put Your Head on My Shoulder is also a really fun, chill slice of life! Something About 1% is great too! I definitely see where you're coming from :)

Ooh! Do you have any recommendations for psychological types of thrillers/horror? I'm not very much into the genre but I'm trying haha! And you're absolutely right, slice-of-life is my preferred genre :) I honestly don't really ever mind others sharing their opinions even if I disagree, we all like what we all like after all! Thankfully there are so many things out there~ :)
Thank you for calling what it is: queerbaiting. The last episode rendered the show nearly nonsensical despite the stellar cast (I mean WOW, SHS and KJH are true powerhouses!), unfortunately.
Such a spectacularly beautiful show from start to finish. It really really took me by surprise but wow, it was such a healing and introspective show. Rewatching it gives everything a new meaning and I've learned a lot about myself with the show, to be honest. Very raw and real without succumbing to "makjang" and I like to think I'm implementing a lot of the lessons I've learned from it into my own life lol. These remarks are great, thanks for sharing!
Genuinely very very happy for everyone who enjoyed it but unfortunately, I felt like that ending was so, so shoddy and it exposed the weak writing that was present throughout the show. There were ways to have made it acceptable but instead of using those 20 hours effectively, they had to create two special episodes to make that ending seem somewhat plausible (I say somewhat because I still don't think CJ loved SY the way he did SB and even if he did, those feelings went away really quickly and it makes him seem fickle). I'm not surprised or disappointed because I saw it coming but I do think it was haphazard, offensive, and unjustifiable, personally speaking. That said, major kudos to the actors! They were all absolutely brilliant and the show would not have been as successful as it was without them and their respective prowess.
Edit: if anyone thinks this should be marked as a spoiler, please let me know and I'll change it ASAP to accomodate! Tried to make the comment spoiler-free, but it's so subjective. :)
woahh why so much hate? if you don't like the genre don't watch it, it's that simple. for me personally, run on…
IMO, people who solely watch K-dramas (with a foreign POV) are unused to slice-of-life as a genre. This show executes it really well with great pacing that it's probably unsettling or uncomfortable for them. This is not to condemn people who don't enjoy this show, but just trying to understand that viewpoint. :) This show is easily a 10/10 for people who want a mature romantic show that showcases loving friendships, romantic relationships, and mentorships. Also, after shows end, people often come into the comments section with opposing views (I've personally noticed it a lot for many shows).

I'll be honest, this show is solidly in the slice-of-life genre that you will undoubtedly get talking over a hefty plot. The plot of this show is characters growing, loving, and learning and if that's uninteresting to you, that's totally alright. However, this show has attracted many people who feel differently! I drop shows like nothing else so if this doesn't pique your interest, I highly suggest doing the same, but there's also very little reason to downplay other people's opinions without very much reason. :) Additionally, this show got its ratings up through word of mouth but it still had very very little prior "hype" and these actors are mostly well-known in Korea and not to foreign viewers so I think that's also important to note. Regardless, hope you find another show you enjoy! We all have different tastes and that's why I never try to put someone else's opinion down for not having their perfectly aligned with mine.
didn't the 2nd couple get back together in the end?
Her father's dead and she's the VP so the potential conflicts are gone because they were familial. But more than that, the issue was that she wasn't ready to let anyone in until the end and when they seemingly reunited some time later (after he graduated because she can't really be hanging around with someone so much younger). Hope that shed some light on the situation.

This show had and still has next to no hype, though? That was more TB and MQ than anything else. Your opinion is totally yours and I won't contest it, but I did want to push back against that claim because it's incorrect.
I have watched kdramas for 15+ years and I think you are praising it too much. Its seriously isn't anything special.…
Oh, sorry if I was unclear! I was speaking to the user dpggyman not Sylvia. I think their initial contrarian comment could've been a solo comment and not a response to someone else's personal views :) hope that makes sense
Because it's not the point. :) The point is that she is someone who would have but the only reason she didn't…
It would've sounded like an excuse to mention it at first and considering her potential acceptance of future payoffs, she wanted him to be comfortable with the real her, not someone she was as a one-off, if that makes sense. He's someone who has repeatedly stated that he dislikes these payments and, often, the people who take them. But MJ's poor and if that happens again, what would he think? Having that boundary and the reality of her situation was really important to her and knowing what we know now (that she used to be paid off by other students' parents when their children bullied her because she was a struggling poor student), it makes all the more sense, IMO :) whether or not he knows--and he'd probably find out at some point--isn't really important to her because it has no bearing on the future. They come from two entirely different classes and this was the first issue that really showcased that.
