Irrespective of whether the dramas did well or not, his acting has been pretty good and his roles have always been interesting and worth watching!!
I am sure you know what it takes for a breakthrough right?? Amazing script, fantastic production, perfect ost, one of the best pairing of a lead couple and a strong backing!! Because of traffic idol trend, most of the budget is going towards famous idols. When budget is widely distributed across multiple projects, instead of narrowly tunnelled into a handful of big star-studded productions, we can get more dark horse dramas and masterpieces. If only they could also match the script with correct and competent actors!!
He can really pull off complicated, morally grey, and straight up villainous roles along with being able to give CEO vibes and cutie pie energy.
He has outshone the leads in some dramas in supporting roles but alas you can’t expect a supporting character to bear the weight of bad plot, pacing and bad acting of the main leads.
He doesn’t mind taking good parts in series where he isn’t the main lead actor, which sets him apart from many other actors. Right now, many male celebrities are unwilling to be the second lead for a show with a slightly lower profile; they'd rather be the sole lead and carry the show alone, even if it flops.
Actors evolve. Perhaps the audiences stay stuck in one genre, but the actor's ambition is to explore other roles, other genres, projects and other aspects of the industry.
Good acting is technically proficient and believable; great acting is transformative, authentic, and leaves a lasting, profound impact.
