WOW! I don't remember the last time I watched a bad 1st episode like this. It's literally making my blood boil. The writing is absolutely irritating.
How is it that in Korean dramas the police are just a bunch of idiots playing cops? They basically put the woman in jail after a month or even less without doing any proper work. It was like, "Oh, she's the wife? Then go to prison for life."
Like, they are just randomly doing things. Zero evidence of basically torturing the only suspect, and then, bum, they found the murder weapon in the same place where the police already did all the searching WEEKS before.
I'm only watching the rest because I want to know how they can fck this up even more.
Sorry for the little commercial break, π but if you were a BetterMDL user, I have good news, read my comment in the Forum. I updated the script so now it's in a usable beta version.
LOL you just jinxed this one with two poorly written dramas. π
Yeah, but the difference with SWDBS is that it was cringe on purpose, just like Perfect Crown in some cases. It's better this way than being cringe because it's not well-written. π
LOL you just jinxed this one with two poorly written dramas. π
Stop with this nonsense, please. This is a typical blindfolded fangirl "argument." What feeling are you talking about? If the script is shite, why should I feel good things? Just because I care about the story more and not the typical random cute romance, kissing, or even bed scenes like most of you doesn't make me a robot.
It's like saying if you eat the same food 10 times a week, you're going to love it the same way as you loved it for the first time. Nonsense.
I could say the same for you. Why aren't you loving serious real-life dramas like you're obsessing over lame romcoms?
LOL you just jinxed this one with two poorly written dramas. π
"the drama was not trying to do "good sci-fi""
That's 100% true but not a good excuse. I hate this "love conquers all" nonsense. Don't mix it with time travel rules, and it's okay. Just because it's a romcom it still has to be a consistent script. Not realistic, just follow your own rules. If we can't criticize a romcom for its poor script, I don't think we can do that with any other genre. "Moon Lovers" was decent too but they didn't do much with time travel either. I don't even remember if we got any explanation. She just jumped in the pond or whatever, then the lunar eclipse and back in time. Absolute nonsense, but at least in that the writer sticks to the plan; they barely mentioned the time travel or even the rules because they didn't have any.π
I love silly and cringe dramas, "Strong Girl Bongsoon" is a good example. The script was all over the place, but the 2 main leads carried the whole thing.
We will disagree because I'm 10 times more critical with movies and shows in general, and I rate them differently. In 20 years on, I only rated one drama 10/10 and that was Tangerines. Most people give 10/10 to many bang-average rom-coms because they were fun and cute. I can't do that.
Romcoms are the most popular ones because they're viewer-friendly and have all the fun and romance too. That's why it's the most loved genre. It's basically a soap opera. You won't see many people championing for historical dramas (not romcom versions) let alone serious dramas like "The Glory" for example.
I love the romcom genre too btw, I just have a different standard.
She didn't look jealous at all. She was more like angry/afraid because if ML marries FL he can be the king, probably,…
It's all of the things you mentioned. She's power hungry like most people.
My "problem" is that I don't get why. I mean, this is not the Joseon era anymore; the King doesn't have real power. The ministers do everything. They're basically like the Royal Family in the UK, they're like animals in a zoo. π
LOL you just jinxed this one with two poorly written dramas. π
Exactly. It's not crap, but the minute you turn on your brain, it's gonna hurt. Tbf, it's not just LR. We could say the same about so many romcoms. Maybe it's my fault for expecting at least a consistent script even from a romcom.π
LOL you just jinxed this one with two poorly written dramas. π
Time travel is sci-fi. Just because it's a Kdrama doesn't mean it isn't, and the writer can make excuses for not following her own rules. The finale was a mess. She literally erased herself from existence, and yet people still remembered her. Makes zero sense.
I said this so many times. Romcom are the most bland genres in the Kdrama world, BUT the worst part is that fans always make excuses because most of them only care about the cute couple and not the story. That's why writers don't make any effort to write a proper script.
Yes, it's a plot device, just like the guy being an Idol, but at least that part was consistent.
The finale was like, You give me $100, but I travel back in time, so I don't have to pay you back. I'm gonna erase myself from your memory, but in the finale you still remember me. Why? It's like thinking 1+1 = 3. π
LOL you just jinxed this one with two poorly written dramas. π
It can work because it would be just the same copy and paste romcom. Nothing special in it other than the time travel, and the writer didn't even do a good job with that. Not to mention the 100% meaningless crime plot too.
LOL you just jinxed this one with two poorly written dramas. π
Read my comment I just wrote to KinnPorsche, I don't want to copy and paste the same thing. π I have a Lovely Runner and QOT review here on MDL, you can read it if you want.
LOL you just jinxed this one with two poorly written dramas. π
I'd watch QOT again without the main guy because that wasn't as poorly written as LR. It just had some huge missed opportunities with the story, like the miscarriage. As for LR, it was a decent rom-com if you remove the whole time-traveling plot. That was a HUGE MESS. But I'm sure I'm in that 1% who are big fans of time travel plots. I mean, I'm a MASSIVE "Doctor Who" fan so that says it all.π That's why I have high expectations, but let's be real, the writer couldn't even follow her own rules. That finale was absolute nonsense.
LOL you just jinxed this one with two poorly written dramas. π
The one and only thing that matters is quality, nothing else. The rest belong in the bin. Money and popularity will fade away, but quality and art won't. Like, no one's gonna talk about Lovely Runner or QOT in 5 years, people barely mention them now, but many people still talking about dramas like "Crash Landing", "2521", "Flower of Evil", "My Mister", "Tangerines" will be on this list too, "Atty Woo" etc.
These are not only just popular shows but also some of the best-written ones as well.
Not sure what fans you're talking about btw. I mean, many people watched LR and QOT, but I wouldn't say they became huge Kdrama fans too. It's like music, most people only care about the TOP200 charting songs and artists and barely know anything about the other 99% of the industry.
So far so good. EP3 had everything a Pilot should've had, tbh. Maybe this one will make the haters shut up, 'cause I'm done reading all the nonsense about bad acting.
We had a bed scene, too. The comedy of this drama is really good so far.π
IU and that crazy b-tch carrying the drama so far. I'm sure Do will have a love triangle soon, too.π
The chemistry between IU and BWS is good, not as strong as with Bogum or Lee Joon Gi but they're good together.
Hey wait! Can someone please confirm if the Kingβs mother has a thing for the Uncle? π³ Is she really jealous?…
She didn't look jealous at all. She was more like angry/afraid because if ML marries FL he can be the king, probably, and have kids, so she and her son will lose everything, including her dad.
I haven't seen EP3 yet, but am I the only one who thinks the OST is not strong so far? Other than BIBI the rest is kinda bland. Not a "Hotel del Luna" quality for sure.
That last paragraph, Idk why they did this, I donβt think baeksang needs to chase buzz that much, itβs quite…
I'm sure they're biased. They're judges, but people just like us with different opinions and also have to care about the views too. I mean the Baeksang rating.
That last paragraph, Idk why they did this, I donβt think baeksang needs to chase buzz that much, itβs quite…
It's just like Oscars. They need people to tune in. Barely any people watch it anymore, so the Oscars (and even CANNES Series) are using Kpop Idols and Baeksang nominating mainstream and successful Kdramas.
Tbh, I agree; they should make a separate category for the most popular dramas.
"Dear X" don't deserve any nomination. Kim You Jung was great, but that's all. The drama itself only lasted for 2 or 4 episodes at best. It was repetitive, and her acting was only impactful because she never played a psycho character. The first 2 episodes set the bar too high, and they not only didn't stick to that but fell off so hard I can't even describe it. Especially the finale. It was all over the place.
As for psycho characters, Go Hyun Jung should've been nominated for Queen Mantis and not Kim You Jung. Her character was much better written and played as well.
If anyone, Park Shinhye should've been nominated and Miss Hong as well but we all know Baeksang need a Popcorn drama every year, like "Lovely Runner" last year.
