It's one thing to have feelings for someone after 7 years IF you actually had a relationship with that person,…
"Love Scout" is one of my all-time faves. That's the type of "romcom" I love. Mature, meaningful, no nonsense. My only problem with that drama was the unnecessary "we have a past" cliche. That's why I only rated it 9/10. I like it more when the main leads don't know each other from childhood or have some connection, like in "Can This Love Be Translated?"
I think they made a mistake with the kid, because he's only 2 years old so he can't be in many scenes or the creators don't know what to do other than adding some cute scenes with him. The fact that the girl in Love Scout was 5 or 6 years old helped them develop the story more easily.
"(And that's only because they had to show the guy wearing a hat). Why aren't there more scenes like this?"
That scene is a prime example of what's wrong with the writing.
The main plot here is Wooju is cute. That's all. For a 2 hour movie, it could work, but not for a 12 episode drama.
Lol that's fair. Honestly once the drama spoiled who the killer is, it's over for me.
Like I said, that's not the point. It's pretty easy to come up with something. The only death we didn't get any explanation for is the last one. We could say, she blackmailed him, or she did it herself etc.
The point of the story isn't the killing or how she did it, it's 100% about the revenge. Let's be real, we could criticize every freakin' crime drama for the same thing. Especially Korean shows. Unless it's done somewhere where there isn't any CCTV, the murder doesn't make any sense. This is why crime KDramas 10-20 years ago were better or at least a bit more realistic.
She never wanted to hide, she just wanted to send a message and then die like she did. That's why her plan was flawed in the first place. She's not a psychopathic murderer who has a plan for everything.
As I told you already, the identity of the killer was obvious since EP1, and her motive was also obvious when we found out the connection between the people who died. That was around EP3 or 4? Not sure, maybe halfway through.
I didn't need any deep explanation because the minute they showed us the building I knew the reason behind the murders.
It's one thing to have feelings for someone after 7 years IF you actually had a relationship with that person,…
Exactly! He's basically like Joe Goldberg, he's just not a serial killer.π
The show should be about the 3 of them trying to raise the kid and show the viewer the every day life of a parent. Not to mention, they should delve deeper into the fact that Wooju has a serious mental heath issue, but they mentioned it as if he's just missing her canceled cartoon or something. One little trip will solve his whole problem. Typical Kdrama writers.
In the last 2 episodes they spelled out everything at least 10 times, I don't think I have enough hands to count…
She literally walked alone to that cabin or whatever that was and later when SML came she walked properly in the hospital as well.
ML only piggy backed her because it's a usual Kdrama cliche.
Like, don't tell me you can't walk for hours just because your ankle was twisted. Twisted ankle is not a broken leg. You can walk properly, but she was there for hours waiting for her prince charming.π
"I mean y'all have to recall just how indifferent taehyung was when hyun jin sprained her wrist after colliding…
They weren't close at all, it was HIS brother's funeral as well, so don't make excuses for only 1 of them.
Also, no one forced her to take care of the child. She doesn't have a job, she's not smart or mature enough to take care of a baby who has serious mental health issues. The only thing she cares about is those 2 guys. Like, come on now, the only reason she can have a job, because ML gave him a chance. This whole living together is just a plot device and it's 100% unrealistic. Before ML walked in, the whole place and her life was a mess. At least that part was realistic.
No child-protection service worker had visited them yet. Why? Because they're family members? That would never happen in real life.
"Also she isnβt "trying" to date her boss."
Stop making excuses. She is trying to date her boss. She literally went on a date with him and brought the kid as well and they tried to act as if it's "just work dinner".
"but in no way is it anything like the obvious show of interest and flirting the sml keeps initiating that she, mind you, keeps shutting down."
She never shut him down. She literally complimented him multiple times. Said, how much she liked him, how smart, tall, kind and handsome he is.
"Also i can't believe i need to spell this out, but just because she's living with a "baby and man" doesn't mean she isn't allowed to date anyone else as long as she is fulfilling her responsibilities."
No offense, but you didn't get my point. Her sister, and Wooju's parents died like a couple of weeks ago, and now she has to take care of a 2 YEAR old kid. Yet her first instinct is 2 guy. She can start thinking about dating when she actually has a FULL-TIME JOB and she can handle Wooju alone.
"It's just that she's always giving 10/10 effort to woojoo that the one time she gives an 8, everyone wants to write her off as being negligent and irresponsible."
She has a 2 year old at home with a guy who she didn't like as she claimed it multiple times. She's working over-time and can't pick up the phone when the kid was in a hospital. She lied about everything just so she can have a job, and if ML isn't there who the hell would protect or just watch over the kid? No one!
Funny how all of their co-workers went home at a normal time, but she had to go to a hotel with her boss, because that toxic SML basically forced her to do that. She should've said no.
"After work, every morning, every weekend, she's the one taking care of woojoo without complaint."
She chose this life, so she doesn't have any right to complain.
ML is FAR from perfect btw. I'm not here to defend him at all. The whole "I'm gonna live here for a month just because..." was a disgusting behavior but at least he looks like he can take care of a kid better than FL.
I can give you some if you want.π Why I think he's a red flag?1st: After 7 years he hired the girl who he liked…
Yeah, I forgot to mention that last part. He owns the building and never cared about them for 5 days to fix the boiler. He visited the place after weeks probably.π
In the last 2 episodes they spelled out everything at least 10 times, I don't think I have enough hands to count…
You can literally see her knee, it was just a small bruise, nothing more. You probably watched a different episode. If her ankle was twisted she couldn't just walk properly like she did. This is why poorly written romcoms are so popular because most Kdrama fans don't pay attention.
Despite all the hate that SML gets, I like him and would like to see a drama focused on them (although I know…
I can give you some if you want.π Why I think he's a red flag?
1st: After 7 years he hired the girl who he liked but never dated. 2nd: He keeps coming after her even though he's the boss and that could backfire at their company 3rd: Now that he knows she's basically a mother and lives with another guy he is still flirting with her
And let's not even talk about his egotistic behavior. As a man, I hate men who gloat about their visuals and popularity. That alone is a massive red flag imo.
Let's be real, if he's not a good looking guy, most people will call the police on him.π
In the last 2 episodes they spelled out everything at least 10 times, I don't think I have enough hands to count…
It does feel like fanfiction tbh. They have a good trio with a meaningful story, but no, let's spend 90% of the time on a stupid love triangle and not care about the baby who has a serious mental health issue.
Imagine if this was written by the "Daily Dose of Sunshine" writers.
Well, that's not surprising based on what we've seen from her so far. If she's with SML she's an annoying fangirl.…
So, you do agree then. π It is written poorly because it's unrealistic and there is a cliche after every 10 minutes. The show is only carried by a cute boy who has a serious mental health issue but no one gives a damn about that because a dumb love triangle with a red flag and another guy with mental health issue is more important.
There is not supposed to be a choice. The drama name is Our Universe(Wooju) not Suzy and her 2 romeos. The entire…
THANK YOU! We had 1 scene that was like 2 minutes long about the real issue and then they moved on so fast because baby girl had a small bruise on her knee. π
Love triangle is not needed, but I'm not surprised, most people don't want real life drama in romcoms, and the creators don't have balls to dive into topics like this.
Okay I've been trying to be kind to the sml coz park seo ham makes him really innocent and likable but his progressive…
"I mean y'all have to recall just how indifferent taehyung was when hyun jin sprained her wrist after colliding with him at the funeral. "
Uhm, so you're saying he should've let the kid get hurt? π
You can make excuses for her, but the fact is, she's living with a baby and a man and trying to date her BOSS. There's no excuse for that. She's a grown woman yet acting like a 5 year old.
She shouldn't care about romance and men at all when she has a bigger job. Being a mother of her nephew. This drama is so unrealistic.
After Positively Yours, I'm already allergic to SML's behavior and SML in this drama irritates me more and more.…
It's one thing to have feelings for someone after 7 years IF you actually had a relationship with that person, but this guy is a walking red flag in multiple ways.
I feel like Tae Hyeong's confession was a bit abrupt...I mean I get he felt accepted for the first time in his…
I agree about the confession but I can understand why he did it. I just don't feel it's real love, because it comes from the fact that no one loved him or did anything for him. So, it's basically like when you first eat a chocolate and you think that's the best one ever till you try out another version.π
I feel like this drama is more focused on tae hyeon and not on hyunji. Like we see more about him and the baby,…
Well, that's not surprising based on what we've seen from her so far. If she's with SML she's an annoying fangirl. When she's with ML she's an annoying in-law who doesn't know what to do. π€£ To be fair, the script isn't a big help, but ML is a much better actor for sure because he can make this crap writing a bit better.
In the last 2 episodes they spelled out everything at least 10 times, I don't think I have enough hands to count all the cliches they used. I hate violence but I swear I want to slap FL so bad. I don't understand what ML sees in her other than she's pretty. She's so dumb and annoying most of the time. She's basically letting two guys fight over her at a COMPANY DINNER, going on a date with her boss and bringing Wooju as well.
I wonder how old the writer is, because what the heck was that EP5? I feel like this was written by the "Twilight" saga writer. π€£ She had a small bruise on her knees but they were acting as if she broke her leg. Imagine going to the hospital because you have a small wound on your knee. Poor doctors. Not to mention, she didn't say anything about that to ML. Then when ML got sick they were like, oh he's gonna die.
This show is so overdramatic for no reason. It was so obvious ML's gonna work with SML's company, because literally every freakin' scene at the company is so boring. It's basically like FL and SML, the rest of them are just wooden puppets.
At least that photographer woman and her husband are funny. π
To be honest, I would've dropped this after EP2 but Wooju is too cute.
That 2 year old kid is a better actor than most people on this show.
And now we have a burglar too. Wonder when his imprisoned dad is coming too.
Lol that's fair. Honestly once the drama spoiled who the killer is, it's over for me.
This is why most crime shows are boring as hell, because many people think a good story equals with "Who's the killer is", that's why many writers do this to satisfy the majority of the viewers. Crime dramas nowadays are basically dumb Marvel movies thanks to viewers. In reality, the identity of the killer is the least important thing. Crime shows don't fail because of the big reveal, they fail because the MOTIVE is ridiculous, and most of the time people kill because they have mental illness or a sad childhood.
This show is an example of when the identity of the killer isn't important, it's all about the story behind her motive and that was top-tier, even tho she had a sad childhood as well, but here, it was meaningful not just plot device.
OP said this:
"The profiler doesnβt profile. The killer doesnβt hide. The detectives donβt detect."
Literally none of this is true. π
OP said they spoiled the killer, but that's not true at all. I knew who the killer was the minute she appeared on screen. Why? I watched 100s of crime shows and movies. There isn't a single crime story that can surprise me when it comes to the identity of the killer. Unless the writing is so bad that even the writer doesn't know who the killer is till the finale. "Queen Mantis" is a good example.π
The facial acting and reactions to things Dami's character said made it so obvious. The only thing I didn't know is the reason, but they hinted it MANY TIMES before EP10.
As for the finale, it had a perfect ending till that last scene.
The funny thing is, OP and a lot of other people expected some Sherlock type of story, but this was never intended to be like that. I mean, for the love of God, the killer herself said she had to take a break because no one gave a damn about the puzzles so her message got lost in translation, literally.π She didn't see any reason to continue until Ina realized the puzzles meant something.
Criticizing a show because the police didn't find any evidence even though Korea is the country of CCTVs is weird because pretty much every Korean crime drama fails to deliver because of this. At least in this, we got some proper explanations for most of the kills.
We could argue that 1 or 2 were questionable, but only because they didn't show us how it was done. Probably because if they do everyone could guess who's the killer. Like, the last guy jumped because? We can come up with multiple reasons, and the fact that we barely got any explanation about this means I'm right. The identity of the killer and how she managed to kill them wasn't important.
This is not a full-on crime story, this is a revenge drama and they excelled in that.
I think they made a mistake with the kid, because he's only 2 years old so he can't be in many scenes or the creators don't know what to do other than adding some cute scenes with him. The fact that the girl in Love Scout was 5 or 6 years old helped them develop the story more easily.
