So as much as I like the ML in this drama and how amazingly he portrays this character with this illness, I can…
Both the ML and FL are navigating a relationship complicated by the ML's emotional unavailability. Both desire this connection, yet they struggle with their own expectations and disappointments. This is a very natural and human experience. Why is it that we readily offer compassion and validation for the ML's struggles, yet hesitate to extend the same understanding to the FL, whose pain and efforts are just as valid?

Well the FL is always a yo- yo that is the issue and it looks like she will be one in the future episodes too.…
It's fair to say that both of them endure their own struggles, and if we can extend compassion to the male lead for his challenges, we should equally offer the same understanding and empathy to the female lead.

It’s a slow burn romance that won’t be everyone’s cup of tea. The theme can be heavy at times because it reminds us that love can be imperfect, complex and messy but also worth pursuing .

Love isn’t always a logical choice, nor should it be dismissed when it becomes messy. We can appreciate the complexity of the ML and FL connection without invalidating the FL feelings of hurt and frustration.

GY's choice to love DW despite his flaws reflects her strength and emotional maturity. She is guided by her empathy and faith in his growth. What sets her love apart from an unhealthy obsession is that she dares to love all while recognizing when to take a step back to prioritize her own well-being.

What the hell is wrong with this guy? He ruined a perfectly good character by writing in a very unnecessary scene that turned the male lead into a monster.

Stopping after ep 6 since comments said that ep 7 is a cliffhanger :D I will wait until next episodes air to continue.…
My sister and I watched the first two episodes together and we became so attached to ZHHZ’s version of YCW that we dropped the show after the 3rd episode. It made no sense for us to continue watching the ML fall in love with a version of YCW who has the villain’s face. We can only hope that LYX and ZHHZ CP power is strong enough to bring them together as leads for another drama. 💔

Is this confirmed yet ??
Both SY and CZY have been contacted by the casting team to film. However, CZY recently accepted a leading role in a high-profile Spy show that will begin filming at the end of February, this will keep him occupied for the next 4 months. It is possible that casting have not been confirmed yet pending CZY availability. However, if filming is supposed to start at the end of February as it was announced earlier; I would expect them to already confirm the cast, and CZY will not likely be playing the ML.

That said, we are already in the first week of February and no new developments have been announced; chances are, they may not start filming any time soon. SY and CZY have both expressed interest in working together again. After reading the novel and putting aside my biases, I genuinely believe that the character Xie Qi is written for CZY. I can't think of a better actor to execute the role. As for the role of Xu You, it is exactly what SY needs to transition from characters who are tomboyish, upbeat, and naive to roles that demands a more feminine, composed, and mature demeanor. She already looks the part.

BTW, I do not think Wu Lei is tied to this project anymore, his name has not been mentioned at all since the initial production announcement. He is currently in Finland filming a different series.

Is this one like Meteor Garden ?
Not really, Xie Qi the male lead in HLD is a troubled youth and an under achiever in school, while Daoming Ci in MG is an arrogant high achiever. Additionally, I think DMC is more outwardly expressive and loud when it comes to his feelings for the FL, but Xie Qi's expression of love is more of a quiet devotion to the FL.

Xu You, the female lead in HLD is quiet, delicate, and studious. Her character is a stark contrast from Shan Cai in MG who needs to be self-assured and combative to match DMC's energy.

I've watched a few episodes of the acting class variety show. I don't like it, seems harsh. Just looks like it's…
Her performance on the show wasn’t outstanding and yet I did not think it was as bad as the mentors made it out to be. I thought she did ok for the amount of time they were given to prepare. Considering they only had one chance to get into the role and 3 hours to prepare SY did a decent job. Even Charmaine Sheh thought SY performed ok. The one thing she lacked was formal training to recognize camera and lighting position. This is not something that is taught during filming simply because the lighting and camera are positioned and shoot around the artist which is vastly different from stage performance.

Why?
Xu Kai is an extremely talented actor and he also have a fun personality to boot, so there is that. While I love Dylan as a celebrity, I do think he has a lot that needs to be worked on. Almost everyone in the industry has been selected initially based on their appearance, this is nothing novel that needs to be exposed. It's pretty obvious Dylan, Allen Ren, Chen Feiyu, Xu Kai, Hui Yi Tian and many others were all selected for their aesthetics first and foremost. Being at "the top" and or "most popular" does not necessarily translate into having the necessary acting chops to perform on the same level as your peers, it's just means that you're well-liked.

Title Shining Days
Why?
I wish Dylan the best, he is a natural celebrity. He has a very easy going and likeable personality and I can understand why he is so popular. I do still believe popularity trends are fickle and can change at any time. Xu Kai was super popular in 2021 and now this torch has been shifted to Dylan. Who is to say, next year won't be another Artist's breakout year. It's too presumptuous to count anyone out. And let's not forget, Esther, Lusi and Bai Lu are all still doing rom com as well. I root for Shen Yue because I can see how hard she works to improve her craft. Unlike a lot of her peers in the industry Shen Yue has never had any kind of formal performance training, she is learning and gaining these skills as she is working, and I am ok with her gradual growth. I think this helps her stays grounded and humble.

Title Shining Days
Why?
I suppose I am not understanding what you mean by trending in different direction. To be quite honest with you, while I think a lot of the younger generation actresses have secured their celebrity status, they have yet to peaked with regards to their performance. This includes Bai Lu, Fair Xing, Esther Yu, Ju Jing Yi, Shen Yue, Yukee Chen, Tian Xi Wei, and Zhao Lusi. While I believe they all have their unique talents that fits well with particular roles, they still have a lot of room for growth. Their popularity fluctuates depending on the roles they get and how well the character is received by the audience. At one point after MG, Shen Yue was the "IT GIRL" then her popularity waned as she took on roles that were similar in nature. Zhao Lusi and Esther Yu have also been typecasted and pigeonholed into roles that were very similar to other roles they've played in the past. Unsurprisingly, a lot of rising stars in China follow the same trajectory, male celebrities included. This is just the unfortunate nature of the entertainment industry. Fans have expectations of who they want their artists to be paired up with, and I don't see any problem with artists being paired up again for another show as long as the plot of story is unique and both artists can grow from the roles.
Replying to Jade Dec 16, 2022
Title Shining Days
Why?
I don't disagree that Shen Yue needs to continue working on her craft. There isn't a single artist in the industry who needs no improvement. If by "tier" you mean popularity, this is where I may disagree with you. I think SY needs to select her next project solely based on the script, it may not be exciting or popular, but at the very least, it will allow her a chance to do something different and challenging. No one is born with the innate ability to act; these are skills artist must hone through experience and practice. Shen Yue has range even if she is rarely given a chance to show it. I watched a few episodes of "Our Time", and while it is definitely not my cup of tea, I thought she executed her role perfectly. It gave me a glimpse into what she is capable of if she was given more opportunities to hone her skills. I think it's a bit counterproductive for any actor or actress to reject a role simply because they are afraid, they may be outshined by a costar. If "Her little Dimples" turns out to be a good script, I don't see any reason why SY or LW would reject it.

Title Shining Days
Why?
I'm not so sure Shen Yue would pick this role for her next project. SY is well aware she is typecasted playing naive roles and she is taking active steps to change that course. She is humbled by her critics and she is eager to learn. I think this says a lot about her work ethics and tenacity to keep on improving her craft.
