Before I start this can someone please explain to me in a very simple way how the bride gets switched and what’s…
the ML is wounded and in a coma, his family wants someone her to Marry him to give good luck in hopes that it heals him.the real wei Rao obviously doesn't want to marry someone who might be on death's door and so finds a substitute.the substitute is as far as we know a random person who looks like her.(we don't know of any prior relation between them)as for the looks of the substitute, I think that you should assume that they don't look identical, but a extremely close match. you should also remember that in the genre, daughters wouldn't have met many outsiders so not many people would know her looks well enough to notice the change.

Title Between Steps Spoiler
is fl inbreed? how the actual f would he have seen what happened when by the time he got their she was already…
she was behind him when she was started running.
she doesn't know that he has a leg injury.
so logic(from her point of view) would dictate that he had to have reached the scene at least at a similar time as her.

it was a chaotic moment, her attention wouldn't have been on where he was, so she wouldn't have remembered well where he was.

about the pictures, she was probably wound up by the earlier argument, and became overly combative.

the day after, when she calmed down from all that happened, she apologized, knowing she went to far.

I just finished ep 5, am i the only one frustrated with the daughter 😭
why the daughter, I'm frustrated with the father.
just how long can it take to go from the rest area to the freezer.
-he was already told she was at the freezer. surely he can find his way there himself.
-why does he take the time to play number cars while looking for her.
-surely fighting those goons isn't his priority he should've by passed them instead(also where tf did they even come from??)
- why did he take the extra time to do story time with the north Korean?
-just how heavy does the rain need to be that she can't hear him.

all this cumulates into 50 minutes of wasted time that ends in a plot convenient cliffhanger.

only downside is that the end is a bit anti climactic.
I'm fine with there not being a "big evil" to defeat.
but then the confrontation between husband and wife should've been done better.
it's good that they also didn't do the endless drama, and the "I can't be with you" cliche.

the elements for an impactfull finale were there, but the show didn't seem to know how to deliver them.
the support from her inlaws, the (eventual) redemption of her persona, the longing for her child and husband, the stop of the police investigation, the understanding of her colleagues,...

the way it was shown, her leaving didn't feel justified and her coming back felt glossed over.

I am only at episode 3, so don't know how things will go. but this situation makes me think about a way if scenario.

Imagine, that a drama where Kingfisher wasn't the lead, but a younger girl/woman.the woman grew up with a depressed father who is riddled with debt and without a mother, and spends a lot of time with her grandmother who absolute detests her (ex-)daughter in law. the girl remembers being with a loving and devoted mother in her early childhood, but then the woman was imprisoned after being convicted as an assassin and mass murderer.
her family gets left with debts to pay compensation to aggrieved families of deceased, and gets publicly denounced by everyone they meet as monsters.the father after all that falls into depression causing him to become undependable for the girl.

the daughter could very well be a Female lead in an alternate universe where her mother kingfisher eventual gets caught, where her daughter then has to live with the consequences of actions she didn't do.

anyway, I'm sure the show won't end in a sad ending, so no reason to think about this.
so far 3 eps in I'm enjoying it. I just hope that the police officer won't become the kind of hypocrite that will let other criminals walk away just to get the notorious and elusive kingfisher.

I am enjoying the slow burn. The ML and the FL haven’t even “interacted” yet. Was thinking they would show…
or him finding her inexplicably interesting upon first meeting.

I am enjoying how she goes totally unoticed as just another maid in army of maids.
ofc, her world savy-ness ability to read, knowledge and other things will mean that she will be able to navigate situations that should be near fatal. and her consistent survival and capability will eventually be noticed.
I am glad they didn't do it by making her unique and interesting at first sight to any who meet her.

Title The Road to Splendor Spoiler
spoilers for this and for the story of minglan
after having completed I find it astonishing how similar this show is to minglan.

but where in minglan, at the end the ML used her as pawn to fulfill the plan, here the ML and FL both did their part, they trusted eachoter and would sacrifice a lot for the other's wellbeing.

*btw, when I call them similar I don't mean it in a plagiarism kind of way, they are more than distinct enough to both be their own story. they are only similar in the broad strokes.

I really like how this show depicts the duality of power, the benefits but also the dangers.

regardless of your own character, the power you gain will put you in compromising situations and you have act through the role that your position demands or you lose the power to another who will act.
trust becomes irrelevant, because even if you do trust someone, the power they hold may force them to act against even their own wishes.

if you like this kind of Dynamic(the balance between trust, power ambition, capabilities and the need to protect your "own") I highly recommend the novel "surviving the succession" (for free on royal road.com)

where the Main character is the son of a corrupt duke, and favored nephew of the emperor and empress dowager. having to navigate the power struggles in the lead up to the succession.

I find that the writer(s) did a good job on making the Mac's feeling after winning relatable.

ecstatic that he won, but also realistic.
the MC doesn't seem to have many friends a pronounced dream to persuit, meaningfull hobbies to practice,...

so the money isn't really capital, but a pair of hands having his back.

For the record, the author of this novel (Liu Cuihu) also is the author of the novel which became source of “In…
oh damn I've watched 2/3 episodes of in-between and I found that it was somewhat familiar to this.
didn't know they actually had the same author.
especially the theatre/play scene in inbetween is reminiscent of this.
i love These type of scenes, where the show uses a surreal/fourth wall breaking sequence to display the dialogue.

Am I tripping or did they use Generative AI to make the opening title sequence and some of the beach shots in…
I really don't get the use of that AI.
it doesn't take much to film some clips of a seagull or to pay a wildlife photographer to give them some clips.

so I don't get why they included that shot.
it looks so stupid with ripples forming out of nowhere.

I tried, I really tries to hold my tongue, but the subs really suck. I really wish the translators would write…
at some point you can hear them say the English word "terrorist" while "rebels" is displayed on the Translation.

Title The WONDERfools Spoiler
ep5 spoilers
they really had to go the cliches route?

first of all, a plot twist isn't good if you couldn't have seen it coming, it is good if you should have seen it coming but didn't.
this one came out of nowhere, the only clue would be the odd atmosphere right before in the apartment, but that is just minutes before.
the ML has gotten next to zero character development, and the actors performance isn't more special than the 200 other cold ML's out there.

second, the redemption that is certainly coming will 100% be unearned and 200% lead to the cliche ML/FL archetype. the 2 characters don't fit together at all.
based on her motivations(wanting to see the world and fullfill a bucket list) she would be interested in an outgoing adventerous person with lots of experiences and stories. not in cardboard ML number 1793.

I am enjoying, but I find it unfortunate that they quickly sped through the adaptation phase.we had the fear/overwhelming/panic/... in EP 1, so I would've loved to see more curiosity, amazement,... in EP 2. not just a flashforward of her quickly learning what she needs to learn, there is so much she couldve reacted to.the running water, toilets, soft beds, quality of clothes, lights, dehydrated food, electric/gas stove, microwave, temperature of the buildings, windows, mirrors, insert any modern technology, ... and these are just the things to find in her house.

now that I think about it, i would love to see a show like that. does anyone have a recommendation of a show where someone comes from the past and their reaction to modern times is an important focus of the show.

any ways, so far I'm loving the show the FL was selling her role as historical consort amazingly.
