After reading some comments down below I think some of you guys got confused about the airing schedule. But basically…
I don’t dispute that this schedule is faster than the original. However, there’s a particular cruelty in making us wait 7 days between ep 28 and eps 29-32 and again for the final 3 episodes on 9/3. Sigh. Especially during this pandemic when I’m stuck at home with an abundance of time and little patience!
Yeah, I'm going to see the second season of Umbrella Academy too.
I believe the Chinese drama you’re referencing is Love and Destiny. Chang Chen is about 11 years older than Ni Ni. I’m not so much hung up on age if the actors are compelling and/or the age gap serves the storyline. Which both these seasoned actors did quite well. I’ve seen enough gratuitous older man/younger woman love stories to last a lifetime. At some point, it is both ridiculous and creepy. FYI, the most unforgivable thing in L&D isn’t the age gap. It’s the awful hairstyling of Chang Chen! That man is ruggedly handsome! They tried to make him look like a pinhead!
Are the subs better now or still Google translated quality? I'm making myself hold back until there are much better…
I’ve watched 4 episodes and I noticed in a scene where the flute playing was referred to as “blowjob”. I nearly died laughing. Gotta love Google translations! But seriously, I can’t handle 35 episodes of poor quality subtitles! Regardless how unintentionally funny it may be at times.
Killing Liu Yizhou was so not necessary.Poor Rong Su - even the scriptwriters love Rong Hua more!
It served no purpose except to demonstrate that the powers-that-be care little about the story. Or perhaps Terry Guo the actor pissed off the producers or something.
I do enjoy a good cliffhanger. I will be waiting with abated breath these next 19+ hours! C-dramas seldom give sad endings anymore. I guess I’m old school. I love tragedies and it was one of the characteristics of C-dramas I actually liked.
This stopped subbing at episode 34. Anyone know why it's taking so long to sub?
iQIYI has 42 episodes subbed and two more arriving tomorrow at 5AM PST. VIP access is free for the first 30 days. Viki is a bit slower with subtitles. However it’s ads-free if watched through Apple TV without a subscription. I don’t know the reason. I personally watch on iQIYI because I lack patience and am an admittedly HD snob. Happy viewing!
I wonder...in the drama Mei Xueman is a girl..but in the cast above, it looks like a man. Mei Xue Man is the girl…
There's a male actor with the same name when spelled in English. I suspect the Chinese characters are different, but can't confirm. For a brief moment, I thought how awesome it would be if she was a transgendered! But no such luck. I would be impressed if proven wrong. Perhaps it's time for this actress to pick an English name if she hasn't already.
@ChineseDramaFan Mo Huan is a fun role to play. But she has earned her death! I just hope it will be spectacular with a touch of camp! I think the audience deserves that much after enduring 45 episodes of bad editing, directing, and uneven writing.
Truth be told, I would still watch this drama if I knew all it’s shortcomings and in spite of my complaints. I love Allen Ren in costume. He’s a young, male version of Helena Bonham Carter. He looks better in period costumes than contemporary clothes. I’m only human. I like pretty things.
I'm really confused. Mo Huan is supposed to be atrocious. Everyone fears her. She could have hurt Nalan Yue in…
There are worse things than death. She’ll keep those around that can be of used. But as it stands now, Rong Hua will die along with Mo Huan. Can Nalan Yue kill his enemy knowing it will also kill his beloved? Rong Su’s life is also dependent on Rong Hua staying alive and serving Mo Huan submissively. This leaves our leading couple separated and under Mo Huan’s control. It’s the kind of cruelty that can’t be escaped through death.
Lol,how will you feel when your bf/gf hold a sword at your fathers neck?. It's not easy,he's your father after…
It’s not just Rong Hua. Rong Su, Ziyan, and to a lesser extent Bai Weizhi are all complicit in turning a deaf ear to justice where the Nalan clan and Lingxu Pavilion are concerned. They seem to think Rong Jingfeng should be spared based on their personal relations and feelings. They sound like a bunch of assholes! It defies logic considering they are the Jianghu world. It leaves this viewer wanting to seek justice from the writer!
Ep 38...whole new level of bad directing and editing. So much happened, but they decided the conversation between Grandmaster and a Rong Hua was sufficient towards the end. It would have been a perfect opportunity for a scene between Nalan Yue and Rong Hua to express he multitudes of complicated mixed feelings they are embroiled under at this point. I’m convinced the director and editor are deliberately forgetting this is a love story within the wuxia genre. Ugh!
I don't think Nalan Yue is sad enough that his baby died.
It’s the same problem throughout the entire drama... bad editing and directing! As for the acting, the only performance that is wooden and two dimensional is Rong Su.
Someone posted this after ep. 6 on Dramacool. Does anyone have answers to these questions?? What is up with Nalan…
This man looks great in costume. He knows how to make his presence while walking. It happens in all his dramas! I personally don’t mind a little weight. He is nowhere near fat and I actually find a lot of these idol drama actors too skinny. No offense to Wang Yibo and Xian Zhan fans, but that isn’t exactly warrior-like body types in period dramas. I’m willing to suspend my disbelief to some extent. But I agree with you about the hands on the waistline. Let’s blame that on bad directing.
@peachblossomgoddess That’s factually correct. It is no secret that the submissive holds the power. Well, at least in dominant/submissive relationships.
Just wondering...the baby was conceived post Nalan Yue goes dark. Will the baby be born dressed in battle ready black, hair partially braided, and sporting a scowl? Shouldn’t there be some kind of genetic affect?
Right? There wasn’t even a scene where they embraced and fades into a shadow or a candle burning. Again, poor editing. But to be fair, nobody ever goes “method” (acting) in Chinese dramas. We have to extrapolate meaning from forehead kiss, piggy-back ride, and let’s not forget the almighty back hug!
This is assuming you’re in the US region.

Don’t get me wrong, I love this shit!
