-Cast- XK and TXW has solid fandoms, peaceful, Un controversial.
-Director of the double - has a good reputation
- theme- supernatural theme pulls in soo many passerby and students while xianxia can be said overdone.
-CP can also pull many viewers
- S+ tag and promotions
-Small IP means people have reduced expectations. People who have read the book may like the drama script much more exciting.

Buts- Small IP- no solid book fans who are looking forward to the drama version

Offering fish has a big IP tag and has a viewer pull because of it. Could also fall short of viewer expectations or might exceed expectations. Chen Feiyu is the other factor who can pull audiences alongside the xianxia visual effects and promotional content

By the time MR air on the 18th LOFG will have aired 27? episodes, which is enough time for the drama to take off. 27 episodes means, either people who like it will finish or people who don’t like it, have already dropped it. Moreover lofg is not an S+, unlike MR so, if tencent wants to air MR even earlier, there is no problem. Dramas can usually air close to each other if they are different budget levels. Moreover tencent has to clear the September schedule for Cheng Yi’s drama. Plus they can’t let the military parade affect MR either. Moreover LYR’s drama will also air in between possibly clashing with MR (same thing like MR and LOFG) so it’s normal for schedule conflict especially if they wanna air dramas in the summer vacation.
MR already has 2.5m reservations on tencent which will increase more after Monday when they announce the drama. So many people are looking forward to it so LOFG by that time is unlikely to affect MR ratings.
As for LOFG 18th August is the latter part of the drama, so people will have already decided if they wanna watch the drama or not by then, hence it’s unlikely to make a huge impact on LOFG ratings. Moreover summer vacation is still happening people can watch a few more episodes a day for a few days.


Initially were so many dramas scheduled for the summer vacation like LOFG, MR, A journey of legend, ZLS drama, LYR drama and many more. Since the summer vacation is ending they are trying to scramble and air many dramas. Usually this happens in the months of May, June, July when the summer vacation is peak, but this year tencent has kept all their good dramas for August.

Guys just a clarification post on behalf of all the commenters below regarding the release date.

Tencent will definitely announce the drama release date, final trailer, and posters on Monday the 11th. If they say that the drama will get released on the 18th, then it will.

It is highly unlikely to get postponed again,
As to why
1) MR was initially scheduled to release in mid- July, but got postponed due to the anti-drug drama. This was why hi6 was recorded so early and got released early.
2)throughout the summer vacation, tencent only had one 30,000+ heat drama (prisoner of beauty). Unlike youku and iqiyi (who had multiple dramas surpassing 10,000 heat index (equivalent to tencent 30,000). Their anticipated high level dramas like Lychees of Changan, Princess Gambit, Narcotics operation etc. nothing could surpass the heat index so they are far behind. MR and Cheng Yi dramas are the two highly anticipated dramas left to broadcast during the summer. Of which CY drama will air in September (tentatively) and MR in August. These two are costume S+ dramas hence cannot be aired in the same months. Even if CY (Cheng Yi) drama is dual platform , iqiyi has to confirm with tencent beforehand.
3) there’s also Li yunrui’s costume drama which is not an S+, that will air after MR. If MR gets postponed, then they have to postpone LYR drama which will even push back CY drama. Tencent will be extremely stupid if they let this happen.
4) so if the drama is to get postponed, it will max be a few days since promotions are going in full swing and MR having a good footing when it comes to investors, platform, production team, actors and fans of both, currently there’s no reason to get postponed
5)They have already planned the release date for Cheng Yi’s drama to be in September (10th as of now) after the military parade (September 3rd is the military parade and in that week, drama promotions cannot happen in full swing since all the public attention will be on the military parade and it’s a big national event). If they postpone MR, the mid-to-latter part of MR will clash with the military parade which can be detrimental to the drama ratings.

These are all the reasons I can think of for now, I will edit if I remember anything later.

Finally, I have to say that not everyone in this platform can speak English and not everyone can speak Chinese nor they have access to Chinese social media. It’s common sense that they are banned in some western countries. News about Chinese entertainment industry is widely available on Weibo and xiaohongshu, and the news majority people have and can access are like 10-20% of what’s actually happening in the industry. Official fanpages on Twitter are the most accurate information most people have access to. They are also fans who are excited about their idols and favs and wants to see dramas. CCTV was the one who first announced Sword Rose’s release date at 12th July on their Central news paper (there’s a section where they mention the program schedules of all CCTV programs) and that was how fans found out. Then tencent announced it that it will air on the 12th. But like a week before the release tencent pushed for narcotics operation to be released on the 12th coz their ratings were extremely bad those days and narcotics operation is the type of drama with a massive broad audience with seasoned actors and crew. Hence all the fan anger towards tencent. It wasn’t CCTV’s issue. Stop spreading misinformation. Either way sword rose was officially announced by tencent and CCTV both but still changed. Nope. August 11th is the day they officially announce the schedule and the official trailer. They will post the final trailer and poster with the date announcements. August 18th is the broadcast date (the day they release the episodes).
